The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

How would you have pulled him over? Flash your lights I guess. Don't most vehicles these days have a warning light for when a bulb is out?
He was going to our Township grade school. I wasn’t really gonna pull them over anyway, as I was running late for work.

I know all the cops in our township, and it would’ve been funny to break his balls.

Good morning MissK. Only 6 hours of deep Sleep. It’s enough but my sleep is being disrupted by my old dogs sundowners. I am still working with him to get back to a better routine.

It’s cold this morning: 5F and windchill below zero.

Nothing really planned
Hi

Poor pup.... it is hard to see the pups we love decline.... my bff just had to put down her 17 yr old.... she was suffering.

It is -8 windchill right now. Brr.... I guess the cold warning is in effect until Wednesday. We were talking about canceling school because of temps last night at our lions meeting. The big argument was " well they would have to go to the bus stop and it is too cold" I was like take them to school, buy them appropriate winter gear, call in to work and be late, etc.. there was always an argument... so stupid. We start raising whiners early folks.

Only thing I have today is work and rescheduled council meeting tonight.

Morning All! Snow blowing is done.

When I started blowing snow it was -15F, and by the time I was done is was -17F. And those are real temps, not whiner wind-chill fake temperature crap!

Although it looks like the snow stopped falling anyway. Might actually see the sun today.

Hopefully it is calm. Some of the worst snow I have had to clear came from the wind blowing the driveway shut.

Up-n-running. Coffee is done. Been up for 3.5 hours, really. Dogs have et, cats have et, barn critters done yet, too. Ice is bus' up, steps are salted (Wat got the really good kind of salt), the landlady has gone to work, and Wat may start up and head into town for grub-n-visitin'.

One of these days, Wat will come here and not go back there.

Yes… and they were created by Murphy.

1. They will always shear when it’s most inconvenient.

2. They will shear when it’s getting dark or is fully dark out. The light will always be poor when a shear pin shears.

3. They will shear when the weather is the most inclementest. (super cold out, wind is whipping. Etc)

4. They will shear for the flimsiest small branch or for no real reason at all. Usually because they just want to.

Granted. I have learned my lesson and always have extras on hand.
I’m starting a new band: The Fuckin Shear Pins.

Here, here's something for that... LOL.

Whine.jpg

Kidding aside. Don't forget you should lubricate the surfaces they hold together. Lest rust invade, and prevent the shear pin from doing it's job. A blown gearbox is much more of a downer than a blown shear pin. Trust me...
(I happen to know that my blower contains an $800 gearbox, and a $1300 gear box. Not to mention the cost of the rest of the drive line, or gear boxes within the tractor. Shear pins blowing are my friend!)

It was calm enough. Wind, but relatively low speed. We're on top of a hill, so the air is always moving. The worst part of snow in this weather is that it's so dense. And the "dust" gets under the hood and gets the belts wet. When that happens the alternator can slip and loose power. Gotta stop, back up and let everything dry out again. Only happened once this morning.

The worst drifting we had to clean was from 40" to 60" deep over the whole driveway and road. It was amazing, it completely filled the driveway. The blower on the tractor is 30" high. I had to raise it up, blow a few feet, back up, lower it and cover those few feet again. Rinse and repeat until both 300' driveways were opened.

Dress warm! Maybe a little antifreeze in the coffee.

Morning all... working to remember today is Tuesday
Tuesday all day

my sleep is being disrupted by my old dogs sundowners. I am still working with him to get back to a better routine.
Old dog has liver disease as well as sundowner syndrome. Getting old is a pain. Maybe time for doggie hospice.
🫂 So sorry, B2. As others have expressed, it's not easy to say our goodbyes... but our furry friends will let us know when it's time for them to take leave.

Not sure about newer models. On mine, if a fuse is out, the blinkers blink faster - almost a double-time. That's my signal to start checking for the blown bulb.
Now I will try to catch up.
Zero expectations to keep current IMO.

Driving in blowing snow is awful, too. Be safe if you're venturing out.

Looks like we may have some new people? Maybe just new to me??? (That happens - the whole "staying current" issue  )
For anyone new who hasn't had the Standard Welcome yet...
Here's the standard welcome for all café newcomers:
Welcome to the café.

We conduct ourselves a bit differently here than most of the rest of Lit.

Post #1 introduces the joint... and glancing back over the last 10-20 pages provides additional context.

To be clear:
1. No religion 2. No politics 3. No drama 4. This isn't a hook up thread. Take it to the DMs or go somewhere else.

Everyone is welcome but we are protective of the vibe

This applies to all who visit this thread.
If this feels like a good match, welcome...

If not then please keep looking on Lit -
There's so many threads to choose from. You're sure to find a few to your liking.

I just had the most frustrating meeting.

I have made a decision. I will be doing nothing. I will not tell my opinion. Everything will be fine. I will not be offering to write documents or proof them. I will not take lead on anything.... fuck these people.

I believe the term is quiet quitting.

My last words were. " should have the cancer education done for you all to change... have a nice day" we have to make sure that all the cartoon characters are in the right place on the power point.

Did I say fuck these people?

The last time we were all together we talked about having a best friend at work...fucking really.... now we need to leverage relationships to figure out their billing process. I am not a biller and am barely a coder..then what.... thanks for telling me and good luck... but the rest of these fucktards are sitting there like bobbleheads agreeing.

Fuck fuck fucking fuck

EDIT: the same person who told leadership that me going to the acdis conference was a waste of money is not only going but attending the long session which is 2x as much money.... and they had the nerve to ask my opinion. My response was look at the agenda and make your determination from that....what I wanted to say was ....so you going makes it a good financial.decision when a year ago me going was not....hmmmm...then she talked about never being to Disney and how excited she was..... she wasn't interested when conference was in Indianapolis....fuck
