The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Good day - even with all of the shear puns. 😉

Snow cleanup was actually not too bad despite my bitching about shear pins. I was off today for MLK day, so snow cleanup and I helped my neighbors clear their driveways too.

Took out my side by side and did some donuts till I realized I was tearing up the turf on my lawn. Whooops! Shakes head cuz I’m a lawn mowing nazi and my lawn mower lines and lawn in general has to look just so. Grrrr.

Puttered around and did some outside things. The sky was so gorgeously blue. And I was working hard enough to not be cold, but also not start sweating: replacing there light up Christmas star with a huge snowflake I made, stacked some firewood, moved my trailer.

My friend, the chef, came over and we re-seasoned the pans. They’re really good pans, but for some reason they’re not seasoning 100% right. They’re definitely getting better as more layers get baked on., But even he said he’s at a bit of a loss.

But we had a good time and drank a few beers and bullshitted some.

Made stock for soup all afternoon and then veggie chicken bean soup. Was super yummy.

And of course fell asleep in the first quarter of the football game.

Fuckin shear pins.

The ultimate oxymoron.

Fuck those things and their fucking designers. Could they be one tensile stronger??? Jesus Christ.

I get why they exist… (Shakes head after spending an hour in the cold trying to find the hole, with the new pin…)

☝️ I know that @nipplecaresser will have some good advice! 😂😂😂
In this very cold weather, is your pin big enough to get in the hole?
Do you need to warm the hole up before trying to get your pin in?
Do you need to get the hole wet first before trying to get your pin in?
Do you have a neighbour with a bigger pin that might fit in the hole better?
Are you trying to get in the right hole? ;)

I laughed so hard at the donuts and your poor lawn.

Maybe call the manufacturer? Did you get a lemon by chance??

😍 love soup - any time of year, but especially when it's so freaking cold 🥶 🍜

Does Murphy even like sports and movies???

Sweet dreams

Yes… and they were created by Murphy.

1. They will always shear when it’s most inconvenient.

2. They will shear when it’s getting dark or is fully dark out. The light will always be poor when a shear pin shears.

3. They will shear when the weather is the most inclementest. (super cold out, wind is whipping. Etc)

4. They will shear for the flimsiest small branch or for no real reason at all. Usually because they just want to.

Granted. I have learned my lesson and always have extras on hand.
I’m starting a new band: The Fuckin Shear Pins.

They will be found to be intact when the f*cking part is found in pieces.

I am off to corporate Zombieland this morning. Have fun everybody.

Funny moment today. As I pulled out of our road onto the main road, a cop car passed me. I got behind him and his left tail light was out. I was going to pull him over and give him a warning, but he was speeding.

How would you have pulled him over? Flash your lights I guess. Don't most vehicles these days have a warning light for when a bulb is out?

Old dog has liver disease as well as sundowner syndrome. Getting old is a pain. Maybe time for doggie hospice.
Over the years we have had several furry friends. It is always hard to let them go but it is the best thing for them rather than have them suffer. Our vet told us we we would know when it was time. They let you know.
