A word from a writer..?

Many a time and often have I complained about the bimbo/hunk mentality which seems to pervade the whole of the the erotica "industry".

As a writer, I find this worship of the body beautiful has been taken to totally absurd lengths. This site is no different, with "authors" invariably using over-the-top, tongue-hanging-out descriptions of their main characters. It has become an utter nonsense with all credibility thrown in the bin.

No story of mine is populated with casting-couch starlets. I believe in taking my reader with me, allowing him/her actually to believe... to believe that what he/she reads could actually be happening. To me, this is the very essence of taking the reader to another place - the start point - of good story writing.

Long live the boy/girl next door...
I am one who when I read the story, I like to find myself becoming fully immersed with the story, to the point that I could believe that it is happening to me. I then take on or imagine I am the one in the story, I love this because of how it makes me feel. So I agree with you.
