No, The LAFD Budget Was NOT Cut Before The Recent Wildfire Disaster.

LOL. Make all the excuses you like. It's still thousands of buildings burnt to the ground, lives and jobs destroyed and $60 billion damage and counting. Going to be impossible to get property insurance in a years time as well.

Pure incompetence all round.

LOL. Fantasy, Laz. You're away in some alternative reality....imagining things that aren't happening. Competent Democrat politicians for example. LOL

On the other hand, it's going to be fun to watch the drowning climbing onto each other's shoulders

Chloe “Chicongo” Tzang obviously doesn’t realize that it’s a time honored tradition with fire and police chiefs (and Generals) to use a crisis as an opportunity to secure funding for their departments.

“A gate at a train crossing or a stop light at an intersection usually doesn’t get approved by the citizenry until a train or a semi hits a bus full of school children”…

😳

That ^ seems crazy-ass-backwards, but it’s the way reality works when it comes to getting funding for certain public expenditures.

😑

Hope that ^ helps.

Earlier today I watched a YouTube video of a report on KCAL about an LAFD facility called the ‘boneyard’. It contains at least one hundred Fire Department vehicles including twenty and more fire engines, each costing a million or more dollars. They have been there unused because they have not been repaired or serviced. The explanation was that there were no staff recruited to carry out repairs.

The growth of weeds in the site was evidence that nothing had occurred for twelve months and an LA local politician was interviewed outlining the actions she had called for to repair and restore the vehicles. What a deadly waste!

Especially in a country where a major party has made a point of cutting public revenues to the bone for 40 years. The miracle of the market is not going to put fires out or keep railroad crossings safe.

Take a lesson from this: government is not some kind of parasitic growth on the private sector!

Um, it’s getting nearly impossible to recruit ANY tradespeople…

And it has little to do with the STANDARD funding mode or government administrators’ incompetence.

Kids have been taught that they’re a loser if they do manual labor (or if they’re soldiers in the military), so it’s getting harder and harder to recruit from an ever shrinking pool of young candidates.

👎

President Biden DID try to address the problem with his landmark pieces of legislation devoted to manufacturing and the trades, so hopefully…

👍

Meanwhile…

Less equipment. More pay. I'm glad they're making more. They absolutely deserve it.

That seems to be working out great.

🙄

NO ONE can adequately prepare for / respond to REPEATED climate change exacerbated storms, and NO ONE can adequately prepare for / respond to REPEATED climate change exacerbated wildfires.

Hope that ^ helps.

Laz.. Trumps impact with respect to natural disasters in his first go round was woeful. Remember Puerto Rico various Hurricanes. The California State Administration is equally as bad with everybody running every which way and avoiding accountability passing the buck wherever possible. Accountability is poison to all political parties but the electorate always understands that whoever is in charge at the moment gets the kicks- crude- yes - unfair - frequently, but political reality.

Finally Joe Biden has one useful service left for the Democrat Party that of whipping boy. He is finished, caused by his own hubris in standing again. Best for the future Democrats to write him off and prepare for the next 4 years. Constructive brutality, more commonly seen in Parliamentary systems.

Climate = What you plot on a chart.

Charts show that climate is changing rapidly since the Industrial Revolution, despite what the Orange Liar tells you.

Most don't deny the climate is changing.

Most do deny that persecuting MAGA's and implementing communism will fix it.

Because only upsets the fucking retards, like you, who think it will.

Plenty of blame to go around for insufficient preparedness but highlighting a salary adjustment of $23 million in a > $900 million plus fire department budget is silly and misses the big picture.

The lack of foresight and unwillingness willingness to modernize water systems goes back decades. Santa Ana winds and dry winters are not new. They have been normal in SoCal for centuries. Raging wildfires there are not new either. This situation with multiple simultaneous wildfires just happens to be the worst.

The list of large wildfires in the US includes:

Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming, Washington, Arizona, Montana, Tennessee, Kansas, Idaho, South Carolina, North Carolina, Utah, Maine, Alaska and Nevada

But MAGAs pretend wildfires are a California Democrats problem. 😆

As always, pretense is all MAGAs have got.

YOU ARE SUCH A FUCKING LYING BULLSHITTER!!! STFU why don't you. Out of control spending does not solve problems, just the opposite, it creates more problems. Spending what you don't have sooner or later will come back to bite you in the ass. Fiscal responsibility should be every parties responsibility. Social spending is way out of control, has nothing too do with cutting public revenues to the bone, it means spending taxpayer monies on what taxpayers need, shrimp on a treadmill ain't one of them. Politicians need a course on how to balance a check book.

Cutting public revenues to the bone is a stupid statement. Public revenues haven't been cut to the bone, just the opposite, revenues have never been higher. What hasn't happen is eliminating redundant programs, cheering on huge omnibus bills that hide billions of dollars in wasteful spending. Congress has been spending like drunken sailors for years funding shit with no apparent means of accountability, following constitutional norms, forwarding a balanced budget, allowing congress to function within regular order where proposed spending allocations are transparent for all to see, are debated on the floor of congress and holding people accountable for mismanagement.

My opinion, you can't hold Bass completely responsible for this disaster. This is a culmination of stupidity, arrogance, mismanagement and lack of following the science that existed for decades. Climate change is a two edge sword. What's creating it for one and immediate remedial actions to adjust with current changes in weather patterns, changes like forest management, bringing water to where it's needed, asset management, accurate spending priorities all the while addressing long term remedies which is a global effort. Understanding that we as a nation can't solve it by ourselves, we can only participate in a joint venture to help with research, innovations and practical applications of what we learned, developed and are able to deploy while continuing to strive for better future remedies. We cannot offset the irresponsible actions of other countries we can only try to mitigate what's going on in our country, we have too much going on at home. There are some that believe we can control climate change, pretty much the same idiots who can't keep the buses running on time.

I'm not a MAGAT, whatever that is? Your pretense is bullshit.

I shared a factual list of states that have experienced wildfires.

This upset you because you hate facts. 👍

(And I didn’t use the term “MAGAT” and didn’t refer to you at all. Don’t pretend I did.)

The problem in LA county is lack of preparedness. It’s not like the scenario unfolding is something that could not have been anticipated.
