Constitutional Convention?

The 1787 gathering in Philadelphia to write the Constitution was the one and only time state representatives have convened to work on the document.

But a simple line in the Constitution allows Congress to convene a rewrite session if two-thirds of state legislatures have called for one. The option has never been used, but most states have long-forgotten requests on the books that could be enough to trigger a new constitutional convention, some scholars and politicians believe.

Some Democratic officials are more concerned than ever. In California, a Democratic state senator, Scott Wiener, will introduce legislation on Monday that would rescind the state’s seven active calls for a constitutional convention, the first such move since Donald J. Trump’s election to a second term.

So your post has no commentary...just literally a quote from a random source.

That's different ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Separate topic , who is dnyuz.con?

Sorry carry on with your bullshit

It was commentary on your thread.

Not on the article, which is what you tried to call me out on.

You look silly in here, and you know it. But keep digging that hole and bumping my thread. :)

You didn't provide a nytimes source.

Yes, I did. The source is listed at the bottom of the article. You didn't see it because you didn't read it.

Commenting on something without reading it is fun. I'm sure you've never pinged anyone else on doing that. (y)

Yes, my commentary on your post is about me. 🔥

Lol... Fun times.

Can't wait for the vanity thread you create about it. You are always a serious person.👍

No sane person is willing to risk the potential chaos of a constitutional convention. So the MAGAs are probably all for it.

We should definitely have a constitutional convention. It would abolish voting rights for anyone except white men over the age of 40 (no one else actually votes), eliminate the right to an abortion completely (women voted for Trump so fuck 'em!), and eliminate any and all LGBTQIA rights whatsoever (so called allies did not vote or voted for Trump so fuck 'em), establish Christianity as the state religion.

The young, women and minorities could suffer. You sow the wind, you reap the whirlwind, motherfuckers!

I feel that after 11 years and 50,000 posts you have not made a single friend here.

How the fuck is it that 250 plus fucking years after the fact slavery is STILL fucking minorites. I mean holy shit. Its infinitely easier to get over something that's not still kicking your fucking ass. By any rational measurement we have more states than we should ever have had because if we added one to the confederacy we had to add one the Union and vice versa of course.

Its bad enough we can't BE a democracy or a helluva lot closer than we are cus I sure as fuck can't find the line that states we can't appoint electors by percentages. So Republicans get votes from CA and NY and Democrats get votes from TX. Maybe I overlooked it but there are a lot of things people CLAIM are in the Constitution that even if you start digging through things like the Federalist Papers and trace through a few SCOTUS decisions over the centuries that either simply aren't there OR the language and precedent they based a decision off wouldn't hold up today.

I'm kinda shocked looking at this that the Right never made a decent push to try this before. Now is perfect for them and will destroy the Dems for ever. I don't see any drawback for the Right on this to be honest. With the arguable exceptions of AOC and Crocket Trump is ten times the orator of anybody on the Left that I can think of. Even a lot of independent media are quick to kiss the ring. I'm sure there are more than a few genuine Liberal Independents with reach. Tucker Carlson crushes all of them all alone. Last I checked Alex Jones is still alive. For some reason that blonde who was huge five years or so is not coming to mind right now if I think of it I'll just add her name at the bottom. So no matter what bullshit the Right tries to shove down your throats the media is not by and large liberal. In terms of viewership we know Fox crushes CNN and MSBNC so badly that, well they exist and 2>1 but that's kinda dishonest at this point no?

Most so called independent media pull from larger sources because they lack the resources to get the information on their own. They are commentators more often than not. I don't hate them, I hate people who aren't going to watch CNN, they are gonna watch Tammy Laryn (that's her name I think!) bitch about whatever Anderson Cooper said. It can be enlightening to get a different perspective on something you watched already if you can spare the time but stop feeding me that crap.

Add on that a lot of the people who claimed independence are eager to kiss the ring.

Going back to the original point there is no planet on which 3/5 (38) states side with Dems to pass anything. Given the will of the people means fuck all in this scenario because its about the State Legislatures you gonna get nervous about even getting 12 to stand with the states.
