The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Creative!
I see @Lilianna23 lurking about !!!!
:love::love:
Standard operating procedure here for 6 months of the year.

We like to shock and awe people who aren't from the area. But the reality is you get used to it, just like anything. It takes well over a foot before we even think about deviating from our daily lives.

The plus side is what makes the lake effect keeps us warmer in the winter, so tradeoffs.
That's the deal right? Warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer. The treaty must be observed!
I'm glad everyone is safe. We didn't get hardly any snow, just a dusting
Ditto. Very glad. Not looking forward to shoveling in these glorified Frankenstein slippers. Solid enough souls. But Breezy AF
Sorry for the absence. It’s been a hectic week. I’m also not in my best frame of mind. The holidays suck and it’s just been a tough week. I’ll check back in on Monday. Hope you all have a good weekend. Please stay safe.
The holidays can be a tough sell. I hope this next week is better for you 🫂
Hugs... I struggle too..
If it becomes too much check in sooner
That's the beauty of the cafe. Check in anytime. We're here for each other. Sometimes it's easier to talk to somebody outside your normal Circle or your family for that matter.
IKR????

I'll never put anyone down for their beliefs. But don't ever hand me a meat-less anything and tell me, "It tastes just like ____." No, no, it doesn't! 🍔🍗🌭
A sibling did this with me with milk. I was trying to explain that I've never liked milk. it always tastes sour. my doctors thought I had an intolerance of some sort. So my sibling suggested either rice milk or soy milk - I forget which. I bought a carton. When they asked how it was, I said, "it tastes just like milk." They said, "I know! isn't that great?" To which I replied, "that's what I don't like about milk."
Yeah like "bacon" made from a mushroom......

LIAR!!!!!?!?!?!?
I'm actually interested in trying that one. But I have to check all the other ingredients first.

No. It's go into a '47 Packard coupe. The six-banger was maybe a 3500 pound car. You can put the early 50s engines into the older cars, but it doesn't work the other way around. But I have two 1954 rust buckets, and since welding is in my box of tricks now, I may go ahead and cut the motor mounts out of those cars and see about welding them into the coupe. Reason is, I'd like to use an old Ford GT 5-speed transmission (more gears and overdrive), and that'll only have 1 transmission mount unlike the old Packard trans with 2 mounts.

TDK is having a running fit.
About the engine??

Something like that. I have read some Ford flathead hot rod/souping up books to see what the flathead motorheads have done. I need to relieve the block for a bit more air flow and put in bigger valves. I know that there's a cam company in CA that can do me a three-quarter race grind. The solid lifters from the little engines will work. It might get expensive to get a set of rods and Pistons made that are lighter than the ones that come with it. Then there will be the fabrication of a good set of dual exhaust headers. Lotsa fun!!!
What I got out of this:

"It might get expensive..." 🤣🤣🤣

Got in late, fed, went to bed, get up and the resident vampire is still up! Even as the suns rays crested the trees…some kinda superpower this woman has?😳

Anyhow, MZ is now AZ…keeping it short due to prep for soda bread making for the big feast. Everyone have a great lead up to the wishbone pull!

I hope your Thanksgiving was great, H! 🦃🍗🦃

I finished my preparation for a friends giving tomorrow. I made vanilla ice cream, chocolate chocolate chip muffins, and apple crisp. Others are bringing a Caesar Salad, mashed potatoes, and mint pie. Yes we are heavy in deserts😃
That was my job, too. Since I can't make a pie crust and Costco can, I got a pumpkin and Pecan pie there. I made Black Forest gateau mini cakes.

So been watching this thread for a while now. I like it. Good folks here....

Off the wall, maybe strange question....if I asked how many of you had a 'Harvest Moon' person in their life, would anyone know what I was talking about? Could be partner, spouse, now, or at some time in the past?

*steps in. hugs @ImpishSeraph *
This will be the second year in a row that I will not be having a "traditional" Thanksgiving.
It seems as if my SO has decided that since it will be my three and her sister's four that we are doing Mexican this year.
In the past, she had went all out for the holiday when her parents were still around and my daughter still lived at home.
It was difficult for her because it was well beyond her skill level at times, especially since she always overdid it on food.
Last year, our holiday was late due to illnesses. So it was a smaller affair.
I am looking forward to the slimmed down menu because of the hopefully lack of arguments. :)

To those celebrating, I wish for the best.
To those not, I hope you have a wonderful day.
As for me, it's too early to be awake on a day off. :D
I hope you didn't have arguments this year, A! To me, a turkey dinner is actually one of the easiest to make. However, if Mexican is in her wheelhouse, that might be easier for her.

Whatever the menu, I hope you had lots of food, love, and leftovers! 🫂🫂
