Why not blame it on Trump? It is his own fault he's caught up in court, and it is his own fault that we have reason to believe he wouldn't respect the rules of the debate even if he says he would. Once again the Party of Personal Responsibility shows none at all when it comes to its own members.

He will not debate and he will have a really good reason that will easily fly with 40% of the country (Democrats) plus 10% of the Republicans and who knows how many the middle. It's mainly about how many hate Trump and how badly.
It won't influence a single vote if he doesn't, but it could be Kennedy-Nixon (as I posited before) if he does.
As you point out, for that reason alone, must-see TV.
Even at his very best, which I am sure he will be at, he cannot match the energy and charisma of Big Orange.
