Which is your favorite show from the two?

Queer as Folk

or

Will and Grace ?

Mine is definitely Queer as Folk. You?

I love Will and Grace.

Since I lack in the HBO department, I've only seen one episode of QaF, or I might vote for that instead ;)

I don't have Showtime, so I've never seen Queer As Folk. I think Will and Grace plays on stereotypes and isn't funny in the slightest.

Exactly. The one gay guy (Will's friend) and the mousy sounding woman are annoying.

i think queer as folk is just soft core gay porn...and will and grace makes me die of laughter...so will and grace wins.
ok who's tallying up the votes?

Thank you!
I consider Will and Grace to be the gay Amos and Andy. It portrays gays as funny folks for the straights to laugh at, in my opinion.

Queer As Folks, I can take or leave. My favorite TV gays are David and Keith on Six Feet Under. They are portrayed as a real couple with real problems, not as either the butt of jokes or idealized queer heroes.

I don't have Showtime either, but I've been downloading every episode of QAF since the show started on Kazaa. Yeah, it does have gay sex in it. But that's what I like about it... it's completely real. Gay people -do- have sex, just like straight people do. And, for those of you who haven't seen the show, I think it totally deals with real life issues. Then again, I'm not exactly custom to complete gay life, but so far I've learned a lot of things from the show that I'd have never thought of on my own.

However, the thing I like most about QAF is that it casts a lot of different character types. Not just the flaming gay guy, but the accountant, the teacher, the business executive, the college student... -plus- it's even got two lesbians. Yeah... anyway. It's my favorite show... if you couldn't already tell. Haha.

Anyway, that's just me.

On with the voting!

QAF - loved it :D

Will & Grace - loathe it

I have to echo what Queersetti said, for me it seems to be a show for straight people to laugh at. My two straight female housemates love the show, but I (a bi guy) can't stand it.

Weird. It was my ex-roomate who turned me on to Will & Grace because his mother watched it and it reminded her of Him and I. Except Grace doesn't like chicks.

What I find funny are the stereotypes because we found them all too true in our interactions with each other in real life, and what wasn't similar was so over the top it's giggle worthy. I think it's more of an attempt to break a show with a gay man as a main character into prime-time network Television without attracting rabid opposition than being offensively stereotypical - which they achieved.

I'm angry that Debra Messing has better hair than I do.

Are episodes of QaF hard to find on Kazaa? I'd like to check out more than the one episode I've seen.

I watch both regularly....well until we stopped getting show time.

I prefer Queer as Folk

I find that "Will & Grace" Just goes over the top too much. The jokes can be funny, but I find mysel wincing at some of the jokes as a bit too much...too stereotypical (sp?)

When I started to watch "Queer as Folk" it too seemed too much, but after a few episodes I really began to like it and made sure that i watched every week. The characters seem "real" ...as opposed to W&G.

i always liked ellen degeneres( i aint gotta clue how to spell that), because she's just funny in my opinion. i was pissed when her show got cancelled and again when the second one disappeared.

will and grace is not my thing, though i like the drug addict.

queer as folk has just never managed to keep my attention long enough for me to form an opinion on it.

Finds Queer as Folk, much better, but as i don't get showtime now, i still enjoy Will and Grace.

Although as a lesbian, there are not many lesbian jokes or sterotypes on Will and Grace. So, doesn't cringe and enjoys the fast talking well written humor.

Although I enjoy Will and Grace, I think both shows only show stereotypes that are potentially damaging. On W&G, the gays never get laid or any such thing. On QAF (the eps I've seen) they only have indiscriminate sex. Although I'm encouraged to see gays in the cultural mainstream, either extreme image is potentially damaging.

Even the original Ellen show got annoying after she came out. It seemed like every episode had a scene where Ellen was leading a woman off into the bedroom...blam! Cut to commercial.

(And yes, it's spelled DeGeneres)

Was it the going to the bedroom, or the cutting to commercials that you didn't like?;)

i just thought she was funny. i liked watching her stand up act whenever it was on television. i even watched ed tv because she was in it.

I liked Ellen all asexual whiny and quirky, the coming out episode had some good lesbian in jokes, but I was ready to move on then and the drawing out of the coming out lost my interest, personally.

She's a funny lady. Her airline standup routine is the funniest version of a beaten to death standup theme. (flying sucks)

Any thoughts as to Brit vs. American QAF?

Will and Grace is torture for me. Makes me glad I don't own a TV set.

I've heard that the British version is a lot better than the American version. Does anybody know if the British one is still in production?

when youre all talking about queer as folk do you mean the british series? i heard they remade it for american audiences and cut out all the really graphic stuff.
there were two series but i dont think theyre making any more

I think most of the comments above are talking about the American version of Queer As Folk, which stars Hal Sparks among others. It's like how we imitated Changing Rooms but called it Trading Spaces, except we didn't change the name for QAF.

QAF hands down... I love it to death. *grin*

Will and Grace... I never got into. I don't watch much TV and usually just rent QAF (don't get showtime here either) and I kinda find Will and Grace annoying.
