Twitter Inc. TWTR +4.13% is in advanced discussions to sell itself toElon Musk and could finalize a deal Monday, people familiar with the matter said, a dramatic turn of events just 11 days after the billionaire unveiled his $43 billion bid for the social-media company.

“It’s The two sides worked through the night to hash out a deal that would be valued at $54.20 a share, the people said. There are no guarantees they will reach one.

Bids tend to take on a different tone once funding is verified.

Musk's honeymoon with the right will be short-lived

A feature, not a bug. Musk himself said he’d like to see the most extreme 10% on the left and the right equally unhappy. If the sale happens and bans are lifted on people the left dislikes, they will not be happy.

The terms of service will be adjusted as they want. Everyone wants a platform to say whatever nonsense they want. Twitter is not required to provide it as a private company, and that won't change.

I truly don't believe Musk is up for what he getting himself into, but we'll see.

The problem with social media has nothing to do with controls. It's all about the users' behavior. And there's truly no way to fully address that from the company side. That's why there are movements by people to "take a break".

Horrible things might happen. Vicious, dangerous, and hateful purveyors of misinformation like BabylonBee could be allowed to tweet again!

It might even get worse! The likes of Alex Berenson, The Federalist, The New York Post, Libs of TikTok, Juanita Broaddrick, Tucker Carlson, and the most hated of them all, President Trump could be allowed back on. Terrifying! 😂

Please tell me there is some way this could end in the death of Twitter.

"Death" is a strong term. I think even MySpace still lives on, technically. But it's safe to assume it's going to wither substantially at best. I certainly intend to do my part.

Why would that happen?
If they rejected the deal without presenting it to the shareholders they would be in technical violation of their fiduciary responsibility and in that case each board member would be subject to lawsuits from individual shareholders. This is why Elon is going to be successful in obtaining the company. Remember these board members own very little stock in Twitter, with that in mind it could be said because they have little economic "skin in the game" outside of their salary, they do not have the best interests of the shareholders in mind, which is their primary responsibility.

It looks like Musk is going to gain control and thoroughly upset the left's attempt to control political narratives worldwide.

This is the biggest piece of bullshit I've seen on the matter.

And I've seen a lot

On Twitter even

The land that is inside your head is truly one of wonder

Well, Twitter stock price is up 6% today alone. Must be some truth in RG's statements.

Stocks typically go down when volatility occurs (hostile bid) and go up when expectations are for resolution of that volatility.

That's not an indication of who or what is involved.

I disagree! In this case the volatility was artificially created when the board of directors attempted to introduce a poison pill. The board inadvertently exposed themselves for what they are, a self serving body with no skin in the game that lost sight of their fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders. I believe had the board acted in the best interest of its shareholders from the get go the price would have gone up as soon as the news of a hostile takeover by Musk was made public.

The board of directors reacted to a hostile bid for their company, as any company would. The media reporting it.as.it did created.additional volatility.

The board acted as it should've acted.

That's because you're an ill-informed lazy person in denial. Twitter and the rest of big tech are no different than Nazi book burners or the free speech impeding CCP.

“I’m deleting the Twitter app from my phone if Musk reinstates Trump’s account” will be the next version of “I’m moving to Canada if Trump is elected.”

How is Musk taking over in the interest of the shareholders?

Try naming some examples that might actually deserve to have some platform somewhere. You haven't yet.

Yes, because deleting an app and uprooting your entire life are the same level of inconvenience.

Lol...you're such a fucking drama queen
Social media is not the same as Hitler, dipshit

Fox is reporting that Trump swears he won't come back to Twitter even if (really when) invited back by Musk, because he's committed to his failsite Truth Social.

Of course, Trump lies all the time, so take it for what it's worth.

His posts were no different than the trumpy authors here.
