On a black velvet sky
Stealing her way here
Moonless serenity
Laughter far away

You can take the night off. To answer your question, yes. It's a feeling. An old one. It didn't really play out the way it's written in the lyrics, but the feeling is similar to me.
Some feelings, like that one, the most I want to do is air it out a little in a bit of creative writing.
