Hi, I’ve been a lurking Lit reader for many years but am just starting to connect on here. After getting out of a long relationship that was a frustrating mismatch sexually, I’m finally getting up the nerve to explore beyond vanilla. Two comments to that...
First, everything we discovered about ourselves it would have been better to have learned earlier.
Second, it is never too late to start.
NOW, and from here, is where we have control over who and what we are and become.
 
So true! I know for me a lot of it was about stage of life. I’ve spent most of my adult life raising kids (and working) and didn’t have the freedom or focus to spend a lot of time exploring - I was in monogamous relationships part of the time, and as a single mom, basic dating was challenging enough. Now my youngest is 16 and I have more time and freedom to focus on my own interests and desires. It’s a wonderful thing but also intimidating to start exploring at this point.

I think there are lots of people in the lifestyle that think if only I had known then what I know now. For dominants and submissive it's a lifelong journey of learning and embracing the truest form of one's self.
