Harris used a post to X to say, “Gun violence is the number one cause of death for children of America—not some form of illness or car accidents.”

Moreover, according to CDC numbers, children are are 27 times more likely to die in an accidental car death than in an accidental gun death, and unintentional suffocation deaths are 10 times higher among children than accidental gun deaths.

Cutting back the amount of guns is a matter of political will which is lacking in this country. It is physically possible but not gonna happen.

Depending on where you live though giving up on cars is not an option. In the east mostly north east they built up a lot of the time. Once you get west of the Mississippi we build out for the most part. Our public transit is trash. It could get better but it would take an absurd amount of work. I could take the bus to the local Vons but I couldn't buy ice cream. I could walk there but then I'm limited to what can fit in my backpack. Most of the work places that aren't your basic grocery store, gas station, fast food, maybe a 7-11 your SOL for work by bus or on foot. I mean to the point where you'd be working, when factoring for travel time, twelve hour days.

When you only build infrastructure for cars, you wind up with cities where you have to own a car. We’ve chosen to make cities in America dependent on cars. It will take decades to undo the bad infrastructure decisions of the last century.

If there was a protected bike lane down Olympic Boulevard, I’d buy an electric cargo bike right now and use it to buy groceries instead of driving to Ralph’s every week. It wouldn’t be a difficult retrofit to the exiting street. Paint and bollards are cheap.

Yeah those intentional deaths sure do seem to be overwhelmingly firearms (who knew, sure don’t seem to be mass killings with knives). But as they always says, it’s not the gun, it’s the guy intent on killing others with the gun that is the problem.

But those who are intent on killing just keep getting guns and doing it, but leave it to not so bright Bart to refrain from drilling down on the data and this whatever incarnation of a MAGA ALT from passing it right along.

The Cheeto loves these MAGA folks because they are so gullible and will just believe whatever he and all of the other biased propaganda outlets spew out at them.

Say it enough times it must be true….I’m still waiting for the evidence of the 2020 election fraud after how many checks in each state???
 
I'm sure its a major killing of children in Chicago, but the dems never talk about the gun violence in their inner city hell holes and those young black lives don't matter.

What should be addressed here-and never will-is the irony of a team that has never met a criminal they wouldn't sign, has a fan base of criminals.

The various reporting agencies like to use the most emotionally laden group assignment for these sort of statistics. I submit that those in the 13-17 age group are NOT children, they're adolescents. This age group is also the group most likely to be engaged in gang related activity.
 
CDC graph of accidents and illness resulting in death within the ages of 1-19. Deaths of children by cause from 1999-2022. Firearm deaths are labeled as injuries because they include gunshot injuries that resulted in death within 24 hours of being shot not just instantaneous death.

A little light reading for you. Firearms are smuggled into places with tougher restrictions like Chicago from the Hill-Billy states more freely than Fentanyl is smuggled from Mexico.
