Gun violence, American style - 1 in 5

I respectfully disagree. Ai has concluded that humans have six fingers on each hand, which makes holding such a weapon problematic insofar as drawing, aiming and firing.
Members! Members! Members! Sigh.

Can we not agree that AI saw the majority of ammosexuals here and showed the results of years of inbreeding on their hands correctly?

Funny.

Seriously though, AI is progressing at an astonishing rate, and it should be leveraged for every beneficial capability it can provide.

AI is definitely going to be leveraged for every criminal capability it can provide.

23-year old black air force serviceman shot in own residence by a deputy responding to a report of a 'disturbance in progress'. He later died in hospital from his wounds.

Senior Airman Roger Fortson, 23, died at his off-base residence, the U.S. Air Force said in a statement released Monday.

A deputy responding to the call of a disturbance in progress “reacted in self defense after he encountered a 23-year old man armed with a gun," the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said in a news release on Friday.

*sigh* again, and again, and again, and again....

America tolerates these stories as statistics that no longer represent the life of an individual.

RIP Roger Fortson and my sympathies for the deputy who now must deal with the emotional toll of taking a human life. An independent, out of state agency should be assigned to look into these types of shootings.

I think the deputy should be tried by a military tribunal for shooting an active duty serviceman.

an attorney was shot and killed by angry customer at mcD's
Before the gunfire, the alleged shooter was angry with the McDonald's employees over his order and was demanding a refund, ABC 13 reported, citing detectives. Limmer tried to de-escalate the situation, but his attempt led to the alleged shooter focusing on him.

The two began fighting, and Limmer pushed the alleged shooter to the ground, according to the Houston-based TV station. The angry customer then went to his car, got a gun and allegedly shot Limmer.
fast food can be the death of you. /macabre observation

fucking people and their fucking easy access to guns to resolve situations rather than fists or—heavens forbid—talking!

Clarification of the rather bland statement put out by Florida Police that didn't quite cover the facts.

The Serviceman was killed by police because he was at home and they were at the wrong address.

the woman believed they were at the wrong house...

i have to wonder if there's even more to this story, bad as it already is:
when i first saw his picture, i thought Roger Fortson was a woman; his features are very feminine, his eyes quite spectacularly beautiful. Pure speculation, but given the anti-gays-in-the-forces feelings (especially amongst some in Florida), it's not impossible someone with a grudge called in the false report of a disturbance, expecting something could potentially happen to either cause aggravation for Fortson or worse.

the family's due to see body cam footage, so if it exists, hasn't been tampered with or "lost", perhaps the woman who was on the call with Fortson at the time of his shooting will have it confirmed that the deputy/ies did not identify themselves when knocking on the door (twice) before breaking in to find Fortson had armed himself with his own legally owned gun.

According to the woman on the FaceTime call, whom Crump did not identify, Fortson heard a knock at his door, asked “Who is it?” got no response and could not see anyone through the peephole, Crump said in a statement.

There was a second, aggressive knock, Crump said, citing the woman’s account.

“Concerned, he did what any other law-abiding citizen would do and retrieved his legally-owned gun, but as he was walking back to the living room, police burst through the door. When they saw the gun, they shot Roger six times,” Crump said in the statement.

bodycam footage released: it shows the deputy knocking once without announcing himself, then knocking a further 2 times with announcing... which seems as if Fortson was busy getting his gun while that was happening and so didn't hear any announcements.

In a bodycam video released Thursday, the deputy initially knocks without announcing himself. About 30 seconds later, he knocks again, saying he's with the sheriff's office and to open the door. He knocks and announces himself approximately 10 seconds later. Within seconds of Fortson opening the door, the deputy shoots Fortson who is seen holding what appears to be a handgun at his side.

This tragedy is near unbelievable..... this demonic entity tied a 4 year old's hands behind his back then proceeded to throw him in a swimming pool... well, after somehow not drowning. This child managed to escape the pool, only to be beaten to death at the hands of this monster..... (What the fuck is wrong with people?)... given the fact she's one of the protected demographics, most likely she'll receive a lengthy prison sentence and not the death penalty....my only thought is wood chipper, industrial wood chipper.... oh, as a side note one in four death's involving children is drowning...FWIW..

If you're looking for a 'protected demographic', search for 'rich white male living at Palm Beach Florida'.

It's puzzling why someone would go to the trouble of adopting a child then treat them like this, ftw here is the culprit who is extremely likely to go to jail, however this has nothing to do with gun violence.

Savannah, Georgia—one of five weekend-shootings in the city:

The shooting broke out as two women argued in an area business, according to Police Chief Lenny Gunther, who didn't name the establishment.

"One shot rang out. That triggered other individuals to shoot,” he said. “We had multiple individuals discharge their weapons to shoot at each other, which resulted in multiple people getting shot.”

Ten of the 11 injured were hit by gunfire. Authorities did not say what caused the 11th injury. Victims were treated at the scene and “several” were taken to a hospital, police said. None of the injuries appeared life threatening.

there's nothing to add, it speaks for itself

Yeah, aintcha glad Wat and other gun nuts encourage so many people to be armed? Here's yet another example of how they protect us from getting taken to Biden's extermination camps, because you can't get taken to the camps if your neighbor already shot you dead.

Amerika. Home of freedumb.

'disgruntled employee' decides to shoot up the linen service business they worked for. kills 2, 3 others in hospital.
(i use 'they' because the 'whatever anger her had' quote is either a typo of 'he' or a terrible use of grammar, leaving the he/she indeterminate)

But Stollsteimer told NBC Philadelphia of the suspect: "The employee had had some issues with fellow employees, but nothing that would lead to what happened today.
"This is just a horrible, horrible tragedy and another example of someone who had access to a firearm who shouldn't have and took out whatever anger her had for whatever reason on the employees."

Gov. Lee signs bill preventing local government from enacting red flag laws
Governor Bill Lee has signed legislation preempting local municipalities from enforcing extreme risk protection orders (ERPOs), commonly known as red flag laws, which allow judges and police to temporarily take away someone’s guns if they’re at risk of harming themselves or others, despite his push for extreme risk protection orders before the Special Session in 2023.

“A person that has shown that they are a real threat to themselves or to others, that person, that individual should not have access to firearms,” Gov. Lee said to reporters in April 2023.

House Democratic Caucus Chair, Rep. John Ray Clemmons, (D-Nashville) told News 2 he isn’t surprised Gov. Lee signed the bill.

“He is all talk when it comes to gun safety legislation,” Rep Clemmons said. “He has put no action behind any of his words. His own friend was murdered at the Covenant School and he did absolutely nothing to better protect her, those in a similar position to her, and children in our schools. He talked a big game but he never did anything to back that up.”

According to a 2023 Vanderbilt poll, 72% of registered voters in Tennessee surveyed support some form of a red flag law to prevent general gun violence.

The governor of Tennessee is a worm. I’m so surprised.
