just like Democrats, Greens, Libertarians and Peace & Freedoms, there are those that are liberal, the centrists and the more conservative of the bunch.

I don't see how environmentalism interferes with any aspect of conservatism or Republican-ism.

i agree with you and i can do a search on google and find info about liberal republicans ... but actually meeting then is a different matter ... especially considering the L word is sometimes used as an insult here ... so i was curious if we had any republicans that wouldn't mind being called liberal

I don't know about them being here on Lit per se, but there are still liberal leaning elements to the Republican Party. These groups have most likely had a mass decline in membership, but they are still alive, active and claiming to be Republican. My feeling is that they continue their fight by REMAINING in the party and forcing the party to acknowledge them. One group is called "Log Cabin Republicans" (otherwise known as the gay wing of the party) and two others that work together are "Republicans for Choice" and WISH (Women in Senate & House -- raises money to support pro-choice Republican woman candidiates).

Under most definitions these groups would be probably considered liberal Republicans. I consider myself a centrist and I am no longer active in the Republican party. At one time I was involved with the two women's groups I mentioned.
