As I'm somewhat political, I started a thread I Read the News Today in the Poet's Hangout It has languished lately but feel free to post and help revive the thread.

Will do Piscator, when I come upon more serious subject matter. I think there's room for a purely humorous/nihilistic thread too, so here's my offering to start.

Millie on the mudflats


The rescuers watched the desperate scene
Minute by minute, hour by hour
The owners could hardly bear to watch
As over the mudflats the drone did scour

And when they found Millie the poor little dog
Was so far out and they had no time
To save her from meeting the oceans might
But then tragedy became pantomime

And I'm praying for the first time in years

For the darkest of intentions


He could choke to death on a

Electrocute himself on his

Trip over his bodyguard on the way to

Look in the mirror and start a fight

With his own ego

Maybe his chinplant will go for a wander

Into some vital artery while he's

Maybe stub his toe and get gangrene


Swallow his lying tongue while drinking

Pop too many one Friday night

And die balls deep in a


Maybe all he wants is £

Maybe the nuclear are a bluff

Sometimes love and light are not enough?

But light a fucking candle all the same
