After at least 3 seconds of careful consideration, I've decided to evaluate the Challenge as a guessing game rather than a popularity contest. Below is a list of entries to date, I will update as more are received. A screenshot of the full evaluation table is attached, unfortunately I've yet to figure our how to copy it directly to this thread.

I am asking that you send me your best guess as to the author of each poem and the entrant with the most correct atrubutions will be declared our :rose::heart::rose:Valentine Hero:rose::heart::rose:
While you do not have to have a submission to enter the attribution contest, those without an entry may be subject to derisive mocking.

*groans* guessing is so hard :(

especially if certain people are writing in a disguised manner to look unlike themselves!

*assorted whinge and whinings*

Would it help if I listed the names of contributors?

Further clarifications

  1. There is no restriction on the number of poems an author may submit - the more the merrier!
  2. The Author's names will be revealed only on the Valentine's Day reveal (If I'm slow this may be the day after V Day)
  3. If an author wishes to remain anonymous on the final reveal, they will be listed as anon.

P'tor (and poets) I've made the poem thread a sticky thread here for the length of the evaluation so y'all can easily access the poems. Sadly it won't make guessing any easier.

Postscript - Four and Ten poems for Valentine's Day

Four and ten poems for Valentine's Day
love and lust neatly fixed within strict lines
as poets young and old each in own way
with tender words plead - whist thou be mine?

Verse crafted with care, minding meter and foot
with due consideration, was each line put
in order to with formal form agree
though sometimes varied to prevent ennui.

Using words suggestive but never crude
sweet things, fruitful flowers, and birds in nest
speak not of debauchery, nor gonads lewd
build joint passion and hormones will do the rest.

Thanks to all of you for joining our play
and to all I send this:rose::rose::rose: floral bouquet:rose::rose::rose:.
for all will be revealed on Saturday.

Hey I didn't do too bad guessing...well for me lol: percentage-wise it's still a fail.

AlinaX, I'm sorry I didn't guess your poem correctly. I think it's excellent writing: I love how you wove the erotic narrative into the form. Really works well!

Also laughing at myself for mixing up Harry's and Butters' poems. I chose the way I did because I thought the one written by Harry felt more faithful to the form, so I figured that had to be the Butters poem. Harry, I apologize for doubting you! :D

Everyone rose to the occasion; fine efforts by all. And now P'tor I'm debating whether I should try this Wordle everyone is talking about.

I'll leave the poem thread stuck and easy to find for a few more days in case folks want to read/critique.

Thank you! I love the challenge of villanelles.

Thank you! I love the challenge of villanelles.

I've always preferred terzanelles. They seem easier to me. I really enjoyed writing the terza rima sonnet. I was trying to finish a terzanelle (about the wonders of chocolate), but it just wasn't coming together the way I'd hoped it might.

I've only ever written one terzanelle (long ago; different life). I should have another go at that.
