That one teasing scene...

Not a scene where someone is teasing, but the instance where your muse has handed you some random scene-could be sexual, could be anything-and its not a casual meh, but a real attention grabbing "Ohhh, I like it!"

But that's it. There's nothing else but this quick staccato flash of a series of verbal exchanges or action, or sex, or whatever, but no story around it, and for some reason nothing you try to come up with to get to that scene has the same grab or feel, so the scene remains just that.

I've had this damn scene flitting about my head for well over a year. I've tried figuring out where it can fit, with no success. I have tried saying fuck you, and ignoring it, but it keeps coming back. I tried blunt force trauma of just sitting down and fiorcing myself to write something to properly lead into it, and again zero acceptable results.

Its like some kind of muse glitch and this is the only time its ever happened to me. I feel like the scene is a crush on someone I know I can't have, or seeing someone else get the promotion you wanted. It's a stinging defeat that pisses me off, but leaves me wondering how I can have something so vivid in my mind, and can't get anything to match it.

I haven't been writing as long as some here, but its been fifteen years, over 200 e-books, 146 stories here, a few erotic horror novels in print, and some of that was a struggle at times, but one I always overcame.

This thing is a damn cocktease of a story is all I can say.

Anything similar happen to you? If so, did you ultimately figure it out?

I had one: a female adventurer tossing a sleazebag rival into a pit with a tentacled demon. It resulted in my five-part series The Rivals, and those two are probably my favourite characters.

Although I'm sure there are more, I have two that stay in my head. I've tried adding to them but nothing fits. I wrote the first one in 2012.

A lot of my stories start with such a scene that interests me. Then I write out how it happens. And what happens afterwards if it seems important too.

I have sorority pledge scene idea that I find terribly hot yet every time that I imagine plotting it out it seems contrived. It involves a sweet reluctant girl having to perform a sex act in front of the sorority sisters as one final haze. Every time that I try work it out it either comes off as either tacky-porny or rapey. I just can't get it to work. I've had this idea for probably five years.
