Losing track of characters and their activities

I write swinger stories, and one in the works - 4K words in - has me momentarily blocked because I’ve lost track of who’s with whom at the party, even after multiple re-reads. Not to worry, I’ll probably straighten it out by this evening. Nonetheless, this note to myself attempting to update the scoreboard hit me as a little funny:

The most difficult part of writing Happy Birthday, Darling was keeping track of 4 characters, one man and three women, and who was doing what to whom.

Putting everything into perspective here, the last IRL "house party" of our experience was 12-15 couples. Hotel takeovers get crazier. The story I'm working on is slightly more... uh... intimate. Good friends having a good time.
