Looking for an old story

Years ago I read 2 stories by the same author but am unable to find them. Both wer long stories.

Story Description
A man has two young children and money problems. Wife sees a news story about the army looking for reruits. Money was better than current job so husband enlists. Whilst husband is away wife meets rich man who can't have kids. Husband comes home with bad injuries to legs and face. Doesn't want to see family. At some point the husband hoes on TV as a medal winner. Ex wife refuses to let their son see the show live. Eventaully meets a blind woman. They are together for a while but then she is able to see and leaves. He meets another woman, ex military and after a few years she dies from cancer or some illness. The blind lady eventually comes back and peace is made.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? I thought it was Marloboroman but I couldn't find the story.

One of the stories sound like Dear John by Matt Moreau. I think it has been removed from LIT but still can be found on the net.

Probably a good thing. I partially read two of his stories before I had to stop and the desire to off myself was present after both. His stories are just that depressing. That guy doesn't just like cuckold stories. He loves stories that humiliates and destroys the men in them. That shit is like reading Torture porn. No thank you.
