A few years ago there was a story where the protagonist is a woman was taken in front of her apartment by a guy. It was heavily implied that the guy was a vampire.
The protagonist had some kind of vision or flashback of her in a past life turning him into a vampire after she had defeated him in battle and that there was some kind of cyclical history to these two. But very little was known about him in general.
It also had themes of compulsion, corruption and thriller and I remember the author opening with the intent of it being a slow burn, story focused writing with overall dark themes. At the time this was their only story. There wasn't much outright sexual but there was a lot of tension from what I remember. I remember it being pretty well written.
