I need some industry insider technical knowledge. What are the costs? I ssume the hosting platform takes a cut? Is this why the switch to OnlyFans?

Good Path

As silly as it sounds, reality makes the fantasy that much more realistic. When you create a real person inside the story, we have someone we're rooting for (or against) and that creates compelling reading. It creates sexy reading when they achieve what they want.

So, to answer the question:

Most websites for camgirls operate with the token system. I'm a voyeur or a horny guy and I buy 100 tokens for $XXX whatever amount of money. I see a girl I l ike and I send her 20 tokens.

Now, websites will take a cut of those tokens. They're double-dipping because not only are they charging the guys in the first place, they are also limiting the amount of money spent on cam models to drive the guys to buy more to pay for the girls who have to hustle more. It's basically a strip joint charging entry, charging you to use their ATM, and then they take a cut of the $10 dance you get.

The upside? You can work from home.

The downside is all the effort going into getting a good camera and microphone, getting the room cleaned and set to the right effect, and developing a personality. The *good* cam girls aren't the hottest ones; they're the ones who interact with the guys. They talk to ten guys at a time, develop relationships, and play a role of interested person. And they're getting the same 30 questions over and over and over.

Do they like to swallow? Do they like anal? What size are their tits?

It's often repititive and can be boring, especially when they get requests like "Open ass!" Or something like that.

I think your former cam girl is on to something and had to deal with that.

Good luck writing! Take the time to create the person in the story and you'll do well.

I can't add much to Davion's post, except to reinforce his comment on reality. The more accurate and natural the background information in your story is, the more "credibility" it will have: by that, I mean the reader will connect more deeply with the characters and the situations.

I don't have any cam-girl experience but the descriptions from your former cam-girl and Davion feel like accurate depictions of the situation they endure. It would only be interesting to the reader if the situation focused in on the interactions between the cam girl and a specific client. The story could begin in the 'show' but evolve somehow into a direct messaging situation with the client. In fact, underscoring the odious side of the cam-girl experience, as a tactic for the girl to be willing to make a connection outside the show, could be really compelling. "Breaking the fourth wall" type of situation.

Still playing with story ideas, so I'm not sure which direction I'm going.

I do like my characters to be "real" people. At least theyre real to me, which is why it takes me a while to write the next installment of their erotic adventures. I want the scenarios to evolve as organically as possible so I'm always asking myself "what would Marion do?"

It depends on what you're thinking about doing next. I bet the best direction to go is to have her watch videos and learn how to be a cam girl. She thinks it's sexy, she tries it, and she likes the attention she's getting. She's not used to attention so now all these men and a few couples too are trying to vie for her to talk to them.

There's some confidence now. And then she tries one on one camming with guys and makes more money but she finds a dude who's hot. And he doesn't live TOO far away. They talk more, they develop a relationship online and she decides to meet him.

Which way does it go? It could end very well for everyone or it could end ... not so well.
