Breathless, wordless, words

How were you ever that young?
Scrambling on scree slopes
My red headed paleontologist
North slope Alaska
Collecting ice age fossils
Already a public servant

Criss crossing the country
Outer banks Red wolf project
Appalachian small mammel study
Hooting for owls by night
mapping northwest habitat

Helo flights 'round Mt Rainier
Just how many elk were down there?
fragile meadows restored
dug fire breaks in Yellowstone

Salmon runs to the Salish sea
Environmental complexity
and science of road ecology
Transportation biology
Seasonal posts gave you skills
An internship became a job
Time ticked away as
Months became years
the century turned
And then it was decades

state and federal consultation
Scientific investigation
Field reviews and mitigation
Policy coordination
All that salmon litigation

Scribbles in notebooks
You know the kind
clipboards and binders
Field guides and binoculars
Rain jackets, boots, grab your tuks
Whatever weather, you don't mind

I dug it even if I never had the experience, I felt like I was there.

Bubbles dancing on my tongue
Little sparkles of joy
Oh how I love to taste you
How I long to feel the frolics on my tongue

Bubbles dancing on my tongue
Electric shocks of frozen pleasure
There but for a moment
Before sliding down my throat

Bubbles dancing on my tongue
Cooling but with sparks
More and more I crave
That sugary sweetness
lucky Bubbles

Morning fog came in the night
Enveloped in the dawn so pale
Mark the wind and set the sail
Together we will be alright
My mind quiets, we will not fail
Together we will find daylight
The fog burned off, restores our sight
These moments set us on the trail
Dissecting each minute detail
Rocking at anchor in the moonlight
The magic of that far satellite
Such sweetness is a holy grail
Within your arms I do exhale
Our love revealed true and bright
Doubtless our union must prevail
Your wild girl swirls in the firelight
A match to your reckless appetite
red thread wrapping pierces the vale
baby darling safe with you, dear knight

Retirement is now full-blown
Each moment we can make our own
True abundance of riches
Icelandic seas and northern lights
Re-imagining days and nights
Establishing patterns anew
Making every dream come true
Each item on your bucket list
Now waiting to be realized
Tantalizing our imagination
Potential for adventure
Offerings all o’re the globe
Expansive possibilities we’ll probe
Making camp, taking sail
Find an old forgotten trail
Open our minds to revelations
Rigging sails and running wild
Point the compass without guile
All roads all seas all weather
U and me – such fun together
Love adventure and laughter

Continuance

In days before
And days to come
And yes, today
This moment I live in
Have I found thee
And so found my love
Expressed here
And with you there
Finding pleasures together
In how we dance
And write
And sing
All those conversations
Passion that we shared
Quiet intimacies
Bonds of friendship
Love and admiration
Respect and devotion
How I adore your fine mind
Creations of your genius
Laughter and charm
Grace and kindness
So absolutely woman
I stand in awe
Of your soul bared to me
In your love and desire
For me
And all the blessings
Of our continuing story
How do I love thee
Always and forever

We discussed it
You and I
Eyes locked
Bodies not touching

Laying on the bed together
Close,but oh so far apart
Wordless conversations
Merely hearts beating in unison

Then the moves, the touches
Skin on skin
Kisses, deep and thorough
The source of our passion

We discussed it
You and I
Back to back we lay
As far apart as two
Could ever be
so sad
all the feels abound

Take my hand love
on this day for sweets
and sweethearts
My friend my luv
our lives so intertwined
dancing together
in the tug and push
a worthwhile effort
meeting of minds
tending hearts
tender care forever
slow dance in the night
steady feel my heartbeat
Intentional decisions
holding deep conversations
In your care I trust
I love you darling
'til I turn to dust

One of those carefree rays of sunshine tickles
and voiceless I follow step by step down the stairs
wishing the empty jars all along could hold your light
their lids lost like the cold of past winter days
behind the door where the dreaming green waits
for fingers to dig into the decay of December weeks
rising January set gears underground in motion
now the ground is broken, sprouts boundless
drink down their first gulp of new life.
February morning gold in my hands, tickling.

Your Hand In Mine

Stepping across the shoreline
Sands in between my toes
Steady waves come and go
There you are right by my side

Your hand in mine
Wind in the trees
Singing softly
"Time After Time"

Feather light caresses
Across your hopeful face
Your sighs of pleasure
That open your thighs

Roadtrip on a lonely highway
Nameless faces driving cars
Speeding along to nowhere
There is only you and I

Chased out of the market
Like teens without a care
Your kisses sear into my soul
Running, laughing, as the seagulls cry

Gazing out the nighted window
Raindrops streaming down the panes
Whispering your name in the dark
Drifting into dreams of holding you tight

So I was stunned into a silence
Unspeakable words of awe
When you bared your heart to me
My soul touched way late at night

Happily you flit and dash
From art to pretty flowers
Singing your "Joy To The World"
Breathe deep beside me and sigh

Writing my songs and poems
Maybe you're my muse
Maybe you're my soulmate
Maybe you're the love of my life

I'm gonna love you to the end of my life
Read marvelous tales of our love story
Spoken aloud from your lips I've tasted
How has my heart lead me so wise

Turn up the radio again and again
There's another love song
And it's all about you and me
Like the one before and coming nigh

Just know, my love, my darling
I really see you and all your cares
How blessed I must be to share
So much as time flies right by

Pouring forth for all to see
In the deeps of night
When our love was born
A love, like you, beautiful and fine

We skipped spring
in the compressed time
winter rain stayed
handknit mittens
warming my hands
week after week deep into April

And then
summer!
Like a switch
Tulips, lilacs, azaelas
rhodies, irises, cherries
all blooming at once!
Foregoing the stately succession
Overworked pollinators
the sky clear and blue
Temps rising into July ranges
A heat dome in May

There was no led.

We just take
the other’s hand
and start walking…

without a destination in mind just…
the sunshine grip
that tightens
every time
one of us
slows
to point at something
the other should see…

so lead we each. No.

Not lead…

We take turns up front…

with gentle pull
that does not say
“This is the way we will go…”

…just… Walk with me.

5/27/23

in this dungeon of silence we come and stray
haunted by words unspoken, things we said
its darkness our ally as the masks fall away

baresouled we walk on this common ground
we don't fear the night but the coming day
when someone claims 'look what I've found'

in the remnant shine of dying embers
driven by the feather duster's sound
the bureau's surface still remembers

long-ago firsts so well behaved
spiraled up bold, then grandeur's
fall, for all the words unsaved

there in the size of a note
the thoughts encraved
where someone wrote

letters like a kiss
no lengthy quote
when I recite this

I do
miss
You

He whispered.... "hold still"
He had already placed me in his favorite karada binding....
the rope biting into my skin...
constraining my breath, just a little,
each wrap around my body a reminder of his possession...

His breath hot in my ear I could feel my body quivering.
"Close your eyes, darling..."
I felt the soft cloth cover my eyes...
tighten around my head...
my vision stolen from me....

I could feel myself falling into that space
where there was nothing but
him and me.
his breath... my heart racing...
everything sharper...more crystalline.

I shiver involuntarily...
Yes... he possesses me. Utterly.
I am his toy. His girl. His plaything.
Perfect.
