Gurner is stupid, no doubt about that. However, there is also no doubt that post Covid, workers productivity measured by GDP per head is well down on what it was previously. That will not be fixed by blame making from either employees or employers. At the moment it is usually more cost efficient to replace workers with technology.

Musk, almost Everybody's Bete Noir sacked 70% of Twitter's staff. Their market share is only growing slowly but productivity per employee and profit are way up. Compare the way he produces cars with Mary Barra (GM). His productivity per employee is multiples of hers, yet she pays herself almost 500 times per annum more than the average wage earner ($29 million). Her value is in her capacity to extract Tax concessions and subsidies from American taxpayers.

Governments through their constantly throwing money at Old Capitalism through protection, subsidies and special grants are putting off the inevitable day of reckoning.
