Original purpose of this forum

Poets--

There is a new wave of poets to the forum and that is great. I am wondering if anyone has shared with folks our brief history here and why this forum was created.

Unless sentiment has changed, the intent of this forum was not to create a bullentin board to post poetry in individual threads for commenting. Lite is set up for public publishing, and the bullentin boards are for discussing works posted to the site.

It is true, we run special challenges and exercises, but this is the exception to the rule. Even when poets create verse for events, we are encouraged to post these works to the site at large.

I'd would hate for administration to regret creating this forum for us because we are abusing the privilege. Our bullentin board is for discussion of poetry in general, challenges to hone our craft, and for critique. When a poet wants feedback to a specific poem that has been published here, he posts the title in the thread and provides a link in the post.

Authors do not post entire stories in the author forums. I suggest we follow protocol and respect the privilege we've been given.

To our newer members, check the "Site Index". You'll find a full listing of poems and stories published on Lite. If you need additional information or assistance, let us know.

As one of the newer members here I didn't realise what the set-up of this site was. Also, with your help by pm I have now found out how to post poems on the public page, but without help it would have been very difficult, as you have to go through the "story index" - it doesn't mention a "poetry index". Maybe an additional link for "poetry index" should be added to make this easier to find for new members.

This poetry forum is a place for us to express ourselves,
to give feedback and to ask for it. To learn as much
as we can.
Poetry challenges, new ideas, information and fun!
That's what I have experienced here in this forum.
Since I started coming here I have seen and welcomed
growth in my poetry.
I hope others will get the same thing by interacting,
not just wanting feedback.
