CBO Says The Obama Plan To Raise Minimum Wage...

Yeah, it does look possible that it will cut 500k jobs. And produce billions more for those who still have jobs. Good fucking deal.

Grampa Urine fixates on the worst-case scenario.

The more likely option, raising the minimum wage to $9.00 an hour, would in fact cost some jobs (100K or so) at very thinly capitalized businesses (like Julybaby04's business). It would also raise the minimum wage benchmark to the 10th percentile, which would go a long way towards keeping some people from having to work two jobs to pay the bills.

Who know? Raising the minimum wage might induce long-term unemployed liked Grampa Urine to re-enter the workforce!

I wonder what the unemployment rate is for black teenagers. This will only make it worse.

Last I checked it was around 16%. This might make it worse, it's however well worth the risk since it will strengthen our economy as a whole. Historically there doesn't seem to be evidence to support the idea that jobs will be lost in sufficient numbers to be concerned.

Good point, but I almost never see Mexicans working at Wal-Mart. Whites, Blacks but very few Mexicans.

If you want to find Mexicans go to Home Depot. Don't go inside; they're hanging out in the parking lot hoping to pick up odd jobs of construction or landscaping.

I recall Carlos Mencia had a bit about a Home Depot he saw in Mexico -- completely built but completely empty, no staff, no merchandise -- he wondered what it was for. And then it struck him: "It's a training center!"

Well the ones with limited English are obviously poor choices for cashiers and floor work. If it's anything like the grocery stores and UPS I worked at the entire janitorial staff is made up of Hispanics and a huge chunk of them illegals. So you won't see a whole lot there at Wal-Mart but they are there dragging down wages too. (Not that I think the effect is enough to throw a huge hissy fit over)

You made that up. UPS requires proof of eligibility to work in the US.

i did not make that up. Also having proof of eligibility to work at the time of getting a job does not prevent you from becoming an illegal immigrant. (Though I highly suspect they just by pass all that shit anyway)

You're totally full of shit. Try another story.

...will cost 500,000 jobs. Obama is all about killing American jobs:

Another thing to thank the Democrats for in November.

Yes, I would imagine most families would be thanking the Democracts.

For family income overall and for various income groups, CBO estimates the following:

Once the increases and decreases in income for all workers are taken into account, overall real income would rise by $1 billion.

Real income would increase, on net, by about $1 billion for families whose income will be below the poverty threshold under current law, boosting their average family income by about 1 percent and moving about 300,000 people, on net, above the poverty threshold.

Families whose income would have been between one and three times the poverty threshold would receive, on net, $3 billion in additional real income. About $1 billion, on net, would go to families whose income would have been between three and six times the poverty threshold.

Real income would decrease, on net, by $4 billion for families whose income would otherwise have been six times the poverty threshold or more, lowering their average family income by about 0.1 percent.

See vette as always you don't bother reading anything so you wind up getting wrecked in you own thread.

Why should I try a lie when the truth is perfectly adequate. This is my job we're talking about. I'm the guy who does the background checks on UPS/FEDex workers so they can work around airplanes. And UPS going above and beyond did their janitorial staff as well much to their panic. Fortunately background checks don't work like that.

Should I give you a shovel so you can dig yourself deeper?

Vendors who perform background checks DO NOT verify employment eligibility. They verify SSN, criminal records, and if the employer asks for it, credit and verification of employment. Do you also handle their I-9 forms?

Your lie is getting bigger. Just back out gracefully before you make yourself out to be a bigger fool.
