The etiquette of posting in Lit is really pretty loose and easy, like most the people here ;)

But there are unwritten rules of posting that are generally followed but not always. So tell me fine folks of Lit, what unwritten posting rule irritates you the most when you see it broken. What rule needs to be "unwritten" down. For example:

When two people are having an exchange in a thread, when is appropriate to jump in, if at all?

Excessive thread jacking should be banned unless one of them created the thread.

And I'll say it again. Do not quote selfies, it makes it harder to delete them.

I'll add the person that posts in as many different threads as possible, I say contribute only whe you can add value, otherwise silence is golden

Fairly new here so forgive the dumb question but, "don't quote selfies". What does that mean?

I think it's fine...announcing when you are leaving so people aren't waiting desperately for a reply from you.

While that is true, that fact that you are leaving my newly minted thread for the night is just unacceptable ;)

Say for example, someone posts a picture of their mug, tits or balls. If you need to quote, fine, but edit out the picture.

I think I should subscribe to this so I can see how many rules I'm breaking.

If someone posts a pic of the self they can always remove it, but if someone quotes it, taking it down takes an act of God.

How about not posting to a thread that is long dead? Don't try to revive it, it died for a reason. If you want to bring up the topic again, start a new one but put a fresh spin on it or it will probably suffer the same fate. Please do some research before you start a thread that is the same as ten other people here, too.

Wasn't "Mug, Tits or Balls" a game show in the 80s hosted by Alan Thicke?

Good point. And I admit I worried about a thread like this being already created. I also admit that I was lazy and just rolled the dice.

People rushing to post in th'ds just to post, "nope", "never", "pass"...

Another is people posting in fetish th'ds just to say they never "got" why people enjoy whatever is being talked about.
Because they are so fucking special everybody is at the edge of their seats wondering if they approve or not.

Lit needs an emoticon .gif that is suitably violent, but not enough for a hospital visit...maybe smacking a smilie across the face with a herring.

Agreed. Posts that judge need to be banned. As well as posts that are begging for compliments. Bring on the herring!

On the matter of butting in when two people are in the middle of virtual fornication on a thread. The following is just my opinion and may be disregarded as such:

There's an inbox for a reason. It's perfectly fine to jump into any thread at any time. Once you start a thread, the genie is out of the bottle. Some will complain about cock blocking, but they really should already be in the inbox if they've actually got a shot at whatever it is they're shooting for. None of us own Lit or pay for the privileged of visiting. Besides, taking over a thread is rather rude. It's okay on a slow night, (and yes, I do it from time to time.) But if it's busy, find a quiet corner and do your thing.
