I feel sorry. For both of you.

Being open about feelings can be the hardest thing to do; something some people may never truly learn to do. I can only concur. Writing things down, anonymously, is easy; saying things face to face, in real life, right at that moment, is a whole different game. It is easy to make mistakes, or to overlook things. And maybe your reaction gives rise to a bigger need, more questions or comments, while already you are struggling with yourself and the other. Inside your mind. Men are strong; men don't have emotions; men don't cry. I know it's BS, but deep inside, it is hard to ignore.

The disability to show empathy doesnít make someone bad; it may be a weakness, fear. Expecting empathy from someone isnít bad either. Sometimes there is no right or wrong; sometimes it is just fucked up. And just sometimes it isnít meant to be, whatever that means/impliesÖ

Yes, I am aware of all you have said. Sometimes I come here so that I can scream/cry into the void when writing it in a journal isn't enough, so that I can be calm and sweet and reasonable when I talk to him. I will not be the woman who screams and cries at their mate in order to get a reaction and I don't think it's conducive to moving our relationship in the direction I am hoping for.

Then I noticed the smell of gas.
I've had to call out the 'Gas emergency' service who, of course, said they had to tell me to turn off the gas at the main inlet.
As my house is heated by a Gas boiler, the man had better turn up soon.

PS
Somewhat to my surprise the gas man comethed with remarkable speed.
He wandered about with his magic [electronic] wand and pronounced the place safe, so everything gaseous was turned back on; including the Cooker (aka 'incinerator'].
So far, so good.
HP, if available in UK I'd recommend getting a natural gas detector. Similar to carbon monoxide and smoke detectors which you should also have. Better safe than sorry.

I'm 42 and living alone for the first time in my life.

When I go to bed at night I close the bedroom door even though I am the only one here.

Yet when I go to the bathroom I leave the door wide open.

Why do I do this?

I had to re-install Windoze 7 today.
What a bloody job it is; After the sheer joy of registering and doing all the other fascinating things that the programmers (and their undoubted hoard of legal beagles), seem to insist upon, I could not install the stuff I wanted; then the penny dropped.
Would you believe 168 'updates' ?
But, I hear you cry, do the updates do the job ?
Well, not instantly. There's the problem of "do not switch off" while the things are loaded. This is followed (after yet another re-start), but the "don't touch anything until this junk's installed" (which of course is followed by another re-start.
A pox on the guys & girls at Redmond.

Charlottesville has been wrecked. The place is now indistinguishable from New Jersey. All the assholes who moved here to escape from the shitholes where they used to live only succeeded in creating a new shithole.

Route 29 was a lovely two-lane road passing through forested land all the way to Barracks Road. Now it's four-lanes in both directions and looks like a parking lot.

The newbies are ill-mannered and easily identifiable.

My previous record for masturbating to completion in a single calendar day was five times. I am pretty sure that it is been over 10 years since I set that record, and it still holds strong, but today I tied that for the first time since setting it.

Ok 3GP, I gotta ask. What inspired this amazing feat of stamina? And if it was a story here on Lit, please include a link.

First, there is no are in my name.

Second, there was no one piece of anything that inspired all of that. It was multiple Parts porn, porn comics, stories, and stuff.

Do they mean that?

I've just had a marketing email headed:

Decorate your hoe this Christmas

I don't normally decorate my hoe. I just clean the mud off it before putting it in the garden shed. As for my 'Ho'? I don't have one. The neighbourhood whore wouldn't appreciate being decorated except in genuine jewellery instead of the fake crap she normally wears.

What can they mean?

What do you mean, "you think..."??

Surely you can remember five times with bit more certainty?

Carry on... oh wait, you have been!

Why the 'Ell can't anyone describe the item properly is beyond me.

I think it was 5, but if someone made a strong argument, I could believe it was only 4.

There are some advantages to living by the sea. Snow usually comes with a northerly wind. That blows the snow past my house, and if the wind is strong enough provides an instant salt spray to clear ice and snow.

50 yards further inland? They might have lying snow and miss the salt spray while the pavements and road around my house is clear.

One of the disadvantages? I've had to wash my ground floor windows with fresh water three times this week to remove the salt deposits so I can see the sea.

I think it had more to do with being stuck at home because the office is under renovation and didn't have power for two weeks.

I think that makers of 'windows-for-houses' should have takena leaf from the makers of "windows-for-cars" and equipped some windows with some sort of auto-cleaning device, like windscreen wipers.

We now have a couple of inches of snow on the ground.
I'm staying in.
