I try not to write stuff that large. I've never bothered to enter the contests because I'm 99% sure I have flamers (people that vote low to cause me grief) and because while a reader fave, the editors have never much liked my stuff.

sure sure about the flamers. i have someone who dogs my stuff and leaves the same shit comment on every one. it's a loving wives troll. i don't mind so much because it must take effort for him/her to find the story and then comment; all i do is hit the delete button and voila!

that said the contests are a great way of getting your stuff 'out there'.

As to the question above you, we haven't done anything because she moved across the continent, and it's doubtful we will again. However, I also used to play with her brother and another of our male cousins, and that still happens on occasion, but it's pretty rare. Every few years at best, unfortunately.
