Hmmmm....being in on the ground floor makes me wonder how someone got in in '98...since Loco and a few others of us weren't here yet. I joined in September of '99 as this started to evolve. Many of us were here at midnight of the millenium changeover to see if everything might blow up.
Ever since, I drop by to check to see who has died. And to say hi. Lit even had email early on. Mostly it was regulars who got along and enjoyed each other's company.

but why though? reading the posts, it's not as though they're incredibly smart or brilliantly funny (not for the most part, anyway) - just toss-away stuff, glib, smiley, barking mad at times . . . these followers, are they so lacking security that they feel their posts couldn't match the standard?

I found Lit after leaving another forum I had been a member of for a while. This is the only profile I've ever had here. I prefer the freedom to say what I want when it's necessary. I wander in, then wander out. Occasionally I'll add to the conversation when I have something to say, which as you can see by my post count is rarely. I prefer to listen and learn rather then be a verbose ass as seems to be the want here at times.
I've made friends with a few, laughed with/at others and regard some as a waste of air.
All in all it's been a grand run.

My wife found lit in 2008 and after reading a bunch of stories convinced me to take a look.
I had that "Wow, I can't be any worse than these guys," reaction, but life got crazy and I didn't actually set up an ID and post my first story until 2009.
