To say that JaKar was not pleased with the assignment would be an understatement. He was a proud male, a member of the Narian ruling class a decorated war hero. He was of a proud family of the first circle. No he was a not pleased with his current assignment for he was to be assigned a new pilot, a female pilot. Oh that was not the problem for all Narian scouting vessels had female pilots for they bonded with the ship so much easier than male pilots. Narian males found piloting duties to say the least intrusive, well most did , but there was always that small minority that welcomed the chance to be a pilot. JaKar was decidedly not one of these. No his new pilot was to be a human.
"Humans"
He let the word hiss from his thin serpentine lips almost as it was distasteful to even say the word. They of course the newest of the space faring races. They had spread across their own galaxy like a rampant virus concurring all before them. Their bellicose nature had caught the attention of the Menbar. The first contact between the Membar and humans had resulted in the Membar human war. The humans were driven back to their very own solar system they had lost everything they had gained and were on the verge of extension when the Membar fleet closed in on their home world.
It was called the Battle of the Line. The last of Earth's defenders formed a thin line with what was left of their once powerful fleet. The Membar fleet out numbered them forty to one. The battle was lost it was a matter of minutes before humanity would cease to exist. It was at critical moment that the Membar surrendered. No one knew why but all of a sudden the Humans became an important player in enter galactic affairs.
JaKar sourly paced the landing bay docks waiting for the earth transport that would deliver his new pilot to her first assignment.
"A shave tailed pilot fresh out of the academy Mr. Garibaldi?"
Jakar fumed to the head of the inter galactic command headquarters.
" Assigned to a Ranger scout Mr. Garibaldi."
JaKar it was decided at the highest levels that a Human presence for this mission beyond the veil was essential.
Commander Garibaldi knew just how JaKar felt he was glad it was not him being sent out beyond the veil with a rookie pilot.
Earth transport 606 now arriving at military docking bay 7.
JaKar drew himself up to his full six foot 8 height as he waited for his human pilot to report to him.
