im having problems with the categories not letting me use any tags at all. this has recently just started, am i the only one with this problem?!!!

I had it tell me a certain tag was not allowed last time I submitted a story.

Some words, I believe, are not allowed as tags. What tags were you trying to use? And Naoko's suggestion of sending a PM to Laurel is probably the best thing to do.

I know "baby" and babysitter at one point was not allowed and had heard "rape" and "teenager" were not as well. But I have never tried to use any of those so only going by what I've read here.

Murder and torture are not allowed. I tried to put those as tags for the non-erotic bits of a few of my stories, but it didn't work.

Funny though, the story can feature not just those words, but the acts as well.

For instance you can certainly write a story about a babysitter, but can;t have it in tag or title.

This is a form of CYA on the sites behalf.

Regardless of what LC and Safe-bet Ursurper are now going to post, my undergraduate degree and first MA specialized in China and I eventually wormed my way into a China analyst position and followed Chairman Mao for a few years. Mao was married a lot--first to an illiterate peasant girl whose name is lost to history, although he probably never was divorced from her; then to Yang Kai-hui, daugher of his university ethics professor; then to Ho Tzu-chen, a Long March veteran with him and mother of his children, and finally, to a two-bit Shanghai actress, whose film name was Lan Ping, who was his widow, and then went on, as Chiang Ching, to be one of the notorious "Gang of Three" who made the Chinese Cultural Revolution what it became.

Other than never getting a divorce form the first wife and cheating on his long-term wife, Ho Tzu-chen, with Chiang Ching, I don't remember any particularly notorious dalliances or sexual perversions Mao was identified with (other than he played bridge). By the time Chiang Ching got finished with him, I doubt that he could get it up.

A fun true story, though. The CIA had a panel of three doctors on the Mao death watch for a decade and more, analyzing every piece of data and photo of him they could get hold of for signs of death/decay. All three doctors died before he did--or at least before he was declared buried and laid out in his mausoleum in Tienanmen Square.

So, Ogg, what else has been dug up on Mao and sex? Haven't paid any attention to his story for nearly three decades.

Yep, you are so right. Slip of the mind. Chiang Ching, Yao Wen-yuan, Wang Hung-wen, and Chang Chun-chiao. (I went on to the Middle East.)

The closest to a "tell all" book I've read on Mao's personal life is Comrade Chiang Ching by Roxane Witke, pieced together from interviews with Chiang Ching as she was languishing in prison at her end. Of course most of this is from her perspective. (For instance, she said that Ho had divorced Mao before Chiang Ching herself took up with him, but historical chronology doesn't support that).

Thanks. I"d never heard of that book. In 1994, I was tooling around the Middle East and more interested in Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden.

Although with my googling history, they must be a bit surprised that I switched the Safety Button On on Youtube (in order to ensure my Piglet is only watching clips which will rot her brain not her moral fibre as well). LOL. My only comment is-and this runs though my mind a lot on the GB where everyone seems to be an expert on everything- is that with the power of google..... well anyone can know anything.

My father was a China watcher. My eldest daughter was to a lesser extent and went on a trip to Hong Kong just to be there for the handover.

Me? I'm an amateur by comparison. I may be a Fellow, but not a China specialist.
