A Satanist standing up for Christians. Damn, that's altruistic!
Speaking as a "cracker," who doesn't have the smallest degree of this nebulous privilege BS, and as a pagan who happens to believe in the "free exercise" part of the First Amendment, not just the "establishment clause", I'm pleased to see you champion the rights of a religion diametrically opposed to your own.
I'll even advocate the right of people to accuse me of "white male privilege," even if I think it's absolute bollocks.
If you don't care about the rights of your opponents, then your free speech advocacy is self-serving, not intellectually honest.

How about you stop constantly telling folks what they mean (skewed your way) by what they post, Stella. You've got to be the poster child for zealotry.

And if I said you-or anyone else-had black people problems that is perceived as insensitive and racist.
However your remark about white people does not bother me because it shouldn't. Why? Because nothing anyone says does, you don;t know me, never will, why would I care what you think?
And that is not meant sarcastically, but honestly, why should I? Why should you care what I think?
Difference is some/many can leave it that way, but then we have the squeaky wheels out to save the world because they are so much better than the rest of us.
I think I now know why Stella is a big Obama supporter, she likes the fact he apologies for everything, because that's what PC is all about, always being sorry to someone for something.

Contrary to popular belief, white views are as valid as others and male are as valid as female. This business of reverse racism and reverse sexism needs to stop now. I'm not paying fucking reparations for what a few million dead folks did to other dead folks.
After all, by now, their Maker has made them pay for that already.

I know, you love that word. Zealotry, zealotry, zealotry! When it isn't about your wonderfulness, When it's about other people, its zealotry.
I have a good phrase for you; "Pissy old queen." I'm not saying you ARE one, understand. Just that phrase pops into mind when I read your posts. Like magic!

Point out where I have used it to describe anyone else here but you, Stella. "Zealotry" is so you.
The ultimate den mother without actually having grown up. Telling us not only what we should think but what we actually do think.
And you should know by now that gender slurs don't work with me, Stella, especially from someone who can't be the gender she wants to be.

It sort of proves my point, though. Most imagery created in this country is white. Unless it's ABOUT being black. If it were truly "without race" (which as you know meant nationality at the time it was said), at least half of those faces would have looked very different.... As at least half of the viewers do.

I think "pissy old queen."
I try not to, but you just make me do it. How do you have this power!
But aside from that, my opinions cannot make anyone do anything. My REASONS might be compelling, but we have proof positive in this thread that Thinking Men Are Free.

I would imagine that most black writers write black imagery from black perspective. That would be something that perhaps actual black writers could address rather than a white (not very much) writer (Stella).
It's sort of a duh that white writers would write primarily from white imagery and perspective. And hardly a blot on their character.

Why would I be surprised that you would "inform" me what I am, Stella? That's so you. Zealots do have to demonize or trivialize those they can't control.
News flash, though, I'll go on being who I am--because I don't really give a shit what you think or the Internet games you want to play or all of this polarized political crap you want to shove on others.
This is an erotica writing site. You keep telling others that when it pleases you to do so. Perhaps you should try writing and posting some here yourself.

I can write from both the black and white perspective! LOL If JaxRhapsody is still reading, he might agree that most imagery does come from a white perspective. For instance, when someone talks about the 50s being the good old days with soda shops and poodle skirts, I think of my grandmother working as a maid and my grandfather as a shoe shiner. There are certain people nostalgic for a certain limited experience.
I think we've all done a good job of derailing this thread!

No, I think this part of the discussion brings it back to something useful.
So, in your erotica, you write with the imagery coming from the white perspective? The assumption given is that the characters are white unless you specify otherwise? If so, are you doing this naturally, or is this from some sort of intentional decision of majority reader expectation? (And let's hope Stella will let you speak for yourself here.)
I'll freely admit that I most often work from the presumption that the narrator and/or protagonist are white unless I designate them otherwise. That would be largely because I write mainly in the first person and I haven't written many stories going out of my color skin (although now that the topic has come up, I might try doing that more--I like to write from new angles). It's sort of an interesting concept for me to think about, because I do sometimes write, even first person, from the narrator and/or protagonist being female. And don't even think about it. I have written from the perspective of an Asian male, but I don't that's nearly the same thing as from the perspective of a black male. (I have written a few from a black male's perspective antebellum. I haven't received complaints on the black male perspective used, but I have no idea whether they really worked well.)
It is sort of a no brainer, I think, though, that writers would mainly write from their own skin--and that that wouldn't be something they'd need to apologize for.

BTW, even though we have bonked head a LOT, I have to say that Stella has the patience of Job to TRY to stay on subject , while ignoring Mr. Pissy Pants in Prada's personal insults.

And have, not that you've paid much attention to anyone else's posts in this thread.
I have paid attention-- for decades now. I'm talking about something I'm pretty familiar with, although you hardly seem to acknowledge that it's a thing. And even though I AM pretty white-- I honestly do not feel comfortable in a world that is all white, and I don't care for fiction that is all white. I'm not looking for interracial fetish, either. Just-- more people that look like the people in my world, doing things that people do.

I knew you couldn't give room here for the black writers to respond, Stella. Gotta tell us all what we think--and that you'll give us the right to think.

Yes, I usually start writing from the white perspective because I think that's what the readers expect and want. They want to be able to see themselves in the main character. If the character noticed how the store clerk was following him around, the (white) reader might get confused. Why are they doing that? they would think. A black reader would think, "typical!" It's a sex story, not social commentary. I don't want the reader to think too much or he'll lose his hard-on!
I think there's a place for black imagery, but it's a smaller audience. Also, I think when some people say they want to read about black people, they want to read about what they think black people are like. I get that feeling from the readers in the interracial category.
I just downloaded this movie, "Only Decent People," about a Dutch Jew who goes looking for a ghetto black lady (apparently they have a large African population!) There are stereotypes for a reason and it's fine to write about them, but I'm not that writer.

Never fear. The two-hour Downton Abbey season finale starts in 45-minutes and I'll be off for that.
It's been a productive day for me. Two polished-off manuscripts (one e-book, one paperback) got finished and sent off to the publisher today (Plus a story submission to Lit.).

I have a letter my ancestor wrote back in 1889. Emancipation was 24 years old by then, and she was still taking care of her old slaves too enfeebled and old to care for themselves. They rocked on the porch and she worked to feed them.
