No they won't, in many respects the republicans have led on this issue.
The problem with that particular solution is two fold. The first being that there will be no fruits born for two decades. In order to fully take advantage of a college education requires solid preparation, and the primary and secondary educational systems in this country are failing both the children and the taxpayer. Those need to be fixed, soon and forcefully.
The second problem is that there is no degree qualification for the federal monies. As such we are graduating a host of people with utterly useless degrees. The policies regarding loan availabilities has to change. "If you get a degree in engineering, we got your back. But if your major is "Women's Studies", well, you're on your own Charlotte." The punctuation mark to my statement is the fact that we have been green carding 400 to 600 thousand engineers/scientists per year and have been doing so since the late 1980's. Computer science and engineering majors go to work immediately with starting salaries in the high $50k region. Humanity and Social Science majors go to work at just a little over half that figure if they can find work at all.
