How long does it take for a story to be published once it's submitted?
I've had a story submitted for a few days now and I was wondering how long it would take.
Also I need someone to edit my other stories. I have chapters 2 and 3 waiting but no editor will contact me.
Thanks for the help.

First, please ensure you have switched on your Private Messages. Go to User CP (top left of this page), click on Edit Options (in the left hand column), and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the next box down (Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators) is NOT ticked. Finally click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.
Second, from what I understand, the wait time between submission and publishing is around five days. However, when there's a contest going on, like now, that time can be a bit longer.
Finally, I'm not sure what you mean by no editor will contact you. Your PM's weren't on, so no one could get through to you. But what editor are you meaning?

I just had mine come out today; I think I submitted it on the 1st, so that's about 6 days.

I had one post today that I submitted on the 3rd. Five days. Five days has been the norm for me on posting every two weeks since shortly after Thanksgiving (late November).

Either there are many more stories or things are simply just slowing down. Unless there was a contest 3 was about the norm. I know V-day is still running, but even in the interim it was 4+

Umm, no. As I posted, it's been a five-day delay since the end of November. I post every two weeks, and that's the delay I've seen. I have no idea why you think otherwise. You haven't posted a story since December.

Oh, no, not since December! Guess I have been wasting my time putting the half dozen stories I've written since then for sale instead of on here!
Stupid me.
Maybe I'll just do what you do and go find some old clunker no one will pay for and put it up here as a new story.

Reminder
The Editor’s Forum is for authors and editors to discuss issues related to editing stories. People are forgetting this. It's not a place for personal arguments, attacks, or discussions not related to editing stories.

The point is what the time delay currently is for getting stories posted. I invite anyone who wants to to survey the forum. It's a frequently asked question. And the uniform response for months has been five days (unless you're really new to posting and the editor spends more time looking at it--or unless it's an audio or illustrated story, both of which always take longer). That was also the response on this thread by those who had stories posted today.
