I am...
No longer an unemployed SAHM. As of Tuesday I will be starting the first job I've had in 4 years. I'm nervous and excited and I think I need a nap.

Great nation of Texas. Okay yes Texas has the characteristics of a nation. But none of a sovereign state. A nation but not a state. There are 50 great nations within this strong united greater United State.

Congratulations on the new job RMB. Nap now, no napping during the working day. (G)
Thank you for the receipt for the Borracho Beans. No worries about the heat. I top out with a Jalapeno ot two. I am well aware of my limits.
Good luck with your new job.

I tended bar for awhile as a part time gig. It can be a lot of fun if you know how to work the crowd.

I did a stint as a bartender for awhile back in the day. Started out back-bar in the kitchen, upside down bottles, pull the lever for measured shots...all neat and clean.
One Saturday night the lounge bartenders, that is plural, called in sick and it was only me and sink or swim four deep at the bar. I am sure I screwed up the money, but it was a fun rush and I finally got the hang of it. Enjoy!

I'm excited about it. I've tended in a couple small-town bars (nothing with liquor, which is why I'm starting out serving instead of bartending) and loved it. Yeah the pay is shit, but if you work it right your tips can be amazing.
Oh! The interview was amusing, too.
Interviewer: "Do you think you're a person with good people skills?"
Me: "Well, I've worked in food service and bars before, but I also worked at a prison. Let's not use the prison as a gauge of my people skills..."
*chuckles ensued*
Yeah, it's taken me damn near 5 years to get the prison guard mentality out of my system. Since I have a 4 year old, I have had to seriously force myself sometimes to say "we don't talk like that" rather than "quit yer bitchin', motherfucker."
So... if it's nothing else at least it will be interesting.

LOL! I have a young daughter, it's been tough getting work sometimes. I'm really glad for you that you found this convenient job nearby. I once had to leave my baby when she was only 6 months old and commute two hours' train journey to teach for five hours before rushing back again to her! Having a job nearby is so much better.
Sounds like it's not the kind of bar where being able to say "Quit yer bitchin', motherfucker." is a useful people skill! which is good too.
