Why are white prison gangs called "supremacists"?
Why are white prison gangs referred to as "supremacists" by the media?
Hispanic and black gangs are not referred to as "supremacists." What's the freakin' difference?

Who exactly are they going to be "supreme" over in a prison? If you don't join a gang in a prison you're in deep shit. They are just trying to survive like the blacks and Hispanics.

I work in a medium security prison assessing inmates daily and can tell you that the word supremacist is never used in the Dept of Corrections. The media hypes the importance of gang membership in prisons. Most inmates do not belong to a gang, but they do tend to congregate and hang out with their own race mostly. Gangs in prison are mainly a means of moving drugs and contraband. While most inmates do not belong to a gang...most violence in the US prison system is caused by rival gangs for financial reasons.

A supremacist is one who subscribes to an ideologies associated with the supremacy of a certain race.
