Jessica darted up the stairs leading to the front porch of the apartment she shared with her older brother, and the red-haired teenager took refuge under the awning from the storm that had effectively ruined her afternoon. The eighteen-year-old had just finished classes for the day, and while she normally had softball practice after school, the "threat" of lightning had been enough to scare the coaches into cancelling things until tomorrow. She shuddered as thunder rolled on overhead, and looking up towards the darkened skies she could see that the clouds were moving very, very slowly, telling her that the storm would last well until the night.

Maybe even longer.

And even though she carried an umbrella with her, most of Jessica's clothes were still pretty damp, and one of the first things she intended to do after getting inside was to go and change into some drier clothes.

Once inside, Jessica dropped off her bag by the front door, then kicked off her shoes and padded her way over to her room. Although the apartment was small, it was big enough to allow both siblings their own rooms, and it was furnished with enough necessities to allow life to be somewhat tolerable. Money had always been tight, but they'd managed to get by just fine without having to worry too much. Besides, Jessica thought, things could always be worse. And once Jessica was finished with high school, she could work her way through college and become a doctor.

Or a lawyer.

She could become anything.

Maybe then she could finally do something for her big brother, instead of the other way around. While it was true that living in such a small house caused quite a bit of bickering, especially when it came down to what to eat and who could shower first (Jessica usually won), the younger girl truly loved and appreciated all that he did for her. The least she could do was make sure that everything would work out in the end.

Once she was inside her room she began taking off her wet clothes before dumping them in the hamper by her tiny closet. The first thing she took off was her shirt, followed by her skirt and then at last her underwear. Since it was just the two of them, Jessica didn't have to worry too much about privacy, so she left the door open just a bit to let some cool air come through. After unhooking her bra, Jess' breasts bounced freely against her chest, clearly enjoying themselves. When she opened up her lingerie drawer, the young girl groaned loudly when she discovered that she didn't have any fresh bras to put on.

"Dammit," she complained.

Her brother was supposed to do laundry while she was at school.

"Fine," she mumbled, and after putting on a fresh pair of panties she threw on a loose-fitting shirt and shorts, then made her way out of her room and into the kitchen to start getting ready to make dinner.

The rain was pouring when Joey upshifted his bike and leaned downhill, pressing hard to gain still more momentum as he blitzed toward home. His tires kicked up showers from the pavement as he sliced his way through the suburbs leading back to his small shared apartment. The rainwater beaded and streaked his goggles, pulled by the momentum of his fierce ride and his back effused a faint cloud of steam in his wake as his body, hot from exertion, clashed with the cold ambient air.

Working as a bike messenger in the city was far from glamorous, and on days like this could be downright dangerous. But without a college degree, Joey had limited options, especially after his parents passed away—the task of supporting and caring for his younger sister falling squarely onto Joey’s shoulders. No, working as a bike messenger wasn’t glamorous, but with a little bit of self-control, it made ends meet. That was enough for Joey, to provide a life and opportunity for his kid sister—it was more than enough.

Jessica had always been the bright one anyway, scholastically brilliant, athletically gifted, guileless and pure—she was like an angel of untapped potential. Joey just hoped that he’d still be in her good graces once the tap turned on.

Things had been tough lately, the stress of his dual role as sibling and guardian taking its toll on his relationship with his sister. They fought more often now than they had as children, the bathroom, chores, money—there was never enough money. It broke Joey’s heart to fight with his sister. All he wanted to do was make her happy, but somehow it always turned into angry shouting, hurtful words and slamming doors.

Joey’s rear tire skidded across the wet intersection as he leaned into the hard left turn that would put him onto his block, downshifting and pedaling like mad to preserve his momentum. As he crested the last hill, he sat back and coasted the rest of the way to his apartment building. It was a great location, walking distance from Jess’ school and only a moderate bike ride from the city—a duplex which even allowed the siblings to have separate bedrooms (God only knows how tense things would have been if they’d been forced into one bedroom for all this time, which had been a very real possibility during the time that Joey’d been seeking a sustainable living situation).

The rain had wreaked havoc on the paper bag full of groceries and its contents, in spite of Joey’s earnest attempt to beat out the worst of the weather. He’d gotten a decent tip from his last delivery, corporate execs never quite knew what an appropriate tip on messenger services were, this guy had apparently pitied Joey with the skies darkening and missed on the generous end—a welcome change of pace.

Joey did his best to corral the wet bag in one arm, hefting his bike up onto his shoulder with the other and stomping his way up the steps to the protection of the entryway’s overhang. Threading his muscular arm through the wheel of his bike, Joey fumbled with the lock for just a few moments before managing to get inside.

In his mind, Joey said a little prayer that the pint of ice cream he’d picked up for Jess hadn’t been too badly abused by the rain, it was the kind she liked, instead of the off-brand imitation that he typically was able to afford. He’d been optimistic about the efficacy of the frozen treat as a peace offering when he’d bought it—now he was considerably less so.

Joey carried his bike all the way into the living room, not trusting the wet bag to contain anything within after he set it down. True to his intuition, the moment he set down the grocery bag, the sides gave way where his arm had been. He was able to catch the pint of ice cream, delivering it into the ice box before it hit the ground, but three eggs and a bag of flour weren’t so lucky. The rest of the groceries were salvaged without incident.

He’d been working on sorting through the mess in the kitchen, trying to save any flour that hadn’t made direct contact with the linoleum, when he heard his sister come through the door, earlier than he’d expected her. He was hoping he’d have time to do laundry before she was done with—oh shit… the weather—no softball.

Joey finished cleaning up his mess, filling the trash can, but confident that he hadn’t lost so much of the flour and eggs to be a catastrophe. After he’d stored his bike away in the closet under the stairs, he made his way upstairs after Jessica, hoping to have a peaceful exchange in his attempt to pick up her hamper from her room. When he reached her room, he opened his mouth to ask about her laundry, but felt the words die in his throat as he caught sight of her undressing through the open door.

Jess’ body had certainly matured over the last three years and as he watched her firm, perky breasts spring free of her bra, he found himself rooted to the spot. He watched in silence through the crack in the door for longer than he should have, watching her strip completely naked before him.

He heard her swear, clearly unsettled by the state of her laundry hamper and made an escape into the bathroom down the hall. He leaned back against the door, his heart thundering inside of his chest and his cock straining against his spandex riding shorts.

What was wrong with him? Jess was his sister, he couldn’t look at her like that—think of her that way—but he did, and it seemed to happen more and more often of late.

In spite of the cold and wet that still clung to his skin from the rainfall, Joey took a cold shower, trying to coax his body to remember its biological inclination away from his flesh and blood as a romantic partner, but it had taken an angry, frustrated bout of masturbation to dislodge the image of his nude sister from his brain.

Once he’d effectively purged the poison, Joey turned on the hot water and leaned into its welcome, hot caress. The laundry could wait another ten minutes.

As soon as Jessica stepped into the kitchen she could tell that her brother had returned. Instead of chasing after him to vent her frustrations, the young girl crouched down in front of the freezer to pull out one of the ice trays, and her mood softened a bit when she saw the pint of ice cream. She supposed that she'd have to thank him for it later on. Jessica reached in to grab the ice tray, them kicked the door closed with her foot as she turned to fix herself something to drink. Thankfully there was still some cold tea left in the fridge, and it felt so damn good as the kitchen quickly warmed up while she cooked their dinner.

It would be another small meal, but then again they didn't need to eat a whole lot to survive.

And why complain? There were people living on far less than they.

Their problems were more like minor annoyances.

Problems like less water coming from the kitchen sink while someone was taking a shower upstairs.

When she finally had enough water in one of the pots to boil, Jessica grabbed her book bag from by the front door, then walked back into the kitchen and set a few of her books on the kitchen table. It would take a while for the water to boil, and even longer for the chicken and potatoes to properly cook, but that gave her some time to catch up on some work. The more she finished now, the less she'd have to do over the weekend. Her friend Samantha was inviting a few people over while her parents went away for the week, and Carl had promised to get a few of his buddies to provide music and entertainment for the evening.

It didn't take long for the kitchen to be filled with the sound of Jess tapping the end of her pencil against her notebook, which was something she would do when she was stuck on a particular problem. She was in A.P. Calculus, and kept up with her grades, but that didn't mean she enjoyed math. A.P. English, on the other hand, was something she truly enjoyed. She felt that she could truly express herself in a class that was devoted to the creativity of the human brain. Math was easy. One plus one always equaled two. There was no escaping that.

But writing?

She wanted the whole world to hear her barbaric yawp.

"Oh hell," Jessica said, looking down at her notebook and realizing she'd started writing gibberish where her answers should have been. She began erasing the lines, but stopped when she realized what she was doing.

She... was erasing her contribution to the powerful play.

Satisfied with what she'd written down, Jessica closed her notebook and got up from her seat to check on the food. Dinner would be ready in just a short while. Hopefully her older brother would step out of the shower and join her before he became a shriveled prune. To that end, she cleared off the dinner table and set out some plates and utensils, then grabbed a beer from the fridge for her brother to drink.

With some reluctance, Joey emerged from the shower, opting to keep a towel wrapped around himself instead of trying to force himself back into wet spandex. Steam followed him into the hallway as Joey carried his clothes into his room, keeping his towel secure with the other hand. He felt greatly relieved after his shower and release, but it was short-lived as he realized his negligence with the laundry left him without a clean change himself.

“The sniff test,” gave passes to an old, wrinkled concert shirt with a hole just under the collar and his pair of High School gym shorts that still bore the name of Jess’ current school in faded letters near the bottom of the right leg. Gathering up his belongings into the oversized canvass hamper, Joey slung the bundle over his shoulder and made his way across the hall to his sister’s room.

This time, Joey was sure to knock and call inside before slowly pushing open his sister’s door. He was slightly relieved (also slightly disappointed) to find that she wasn’t within. He shouldered his bag of laundry on top of Jess’ hamper and bent his knees to heft up the combined weight of cloth contained in his embrace.

Somewhere in between a headlong tumble and a stomping goose-step march, Joey’s awkward gait down the staircase without the aid of sight was less than graceful, but he managed to reach the landing without incident. He heard the ambient sound of his sister’s work in the kitchen, even if he couldn’t see her.

“Comin’ through, Slugger.” Joey called ahead, blindly navigating his way through the crowded living area into the kitchen. “How was school today?”

A smile crossed Joey’s lips as he managed his way past the kitchen table, seeing her school books and notebook already open, in the process of doing her homework as she cooked. It was fortunate for Joey that Jess was so naturally committed to her studies—given what a poor disciplinarian he’d proven to be over the years.

At last, Joey set down his burden, near the back door that led from the kitchen into the small courtyard that was shared with the adjoining duplex where the shared laundry facility was. Hardly looking forward to the trek through the downpour in his old, ratty shirt and gym shorts, Joey took the opportunity to lean against his canvass bag of dirty clothes and say a proper hello to his sister.

“What do you have working there, sis? It’s smelling good already.” Joey smiled, catching his breath while watching Jess set the table and prepare their meal. “Anything new and exciting to report, aside from the torrential downpour?”

In a lot of ways, Joey and Jess lived more like an old married couple than siblings—bickering and grating one another’s last nerve one minute, proclaiming undying love the next. Sexless. Yet in spite of everything, so hopelessly devoted to the other that they could scarce form a thought without first considering the needs, feelings and emotions of the other. Very much like an old married couple indeed.

“I picked you up a surprise on my way home from work.” Joey beamed, confident that his secret was still safe.

Jessica glanced up briefly as her older brother made his way through the kitchen, but she didn't say much at first as she watched him carry their laundry over towards the back door. She told him that school was okay, and that she was just trying to catch up on some work before the weekend. There honestly wasn't that much for her to talk about as far as gossip. High school drama was 99% bullshit anyways.

Tommy said this about Susanne.

Suzanne repeated what Tommy had said to Cynthia.

Cynthia repeated something vaguely similar to what Suzanne had said, and now Carl was talking with Tommy about something he hadn't said.

The young redhead shook her head as she got up from her seat to check on dinner while her brother delayed going out to start their laundry.

"I'm just fixing some chicken and potatoes. I was going to throw in some corn on the cob," she added, hoping that the local corn that had been picked up by the grocery story nearby would be sweet enough. When Joey informed her that he had picked up a surprise for her, she found it difficult to hide her grin.

But... she was a teenage girl.

And if you wanted to survive high school as a girl, you had to be good at keeping a straight face.

"I swear to God, if you picked me up another gift certificate to that creepy frozen yogurt shop, you're cooking your own dinners from now on."

Jessica wiped her hands off with a kitchen towel, then patted her brother on the shoulder.

"You can show me after dinner. Now stop being a baby and get your butt out there and do some laundry. I have literally nothing left to wear."

Confident that she'd be able to make up her work some other time, Jessica decided that after dinner she'd try and coax her brother into watching a movie with her. Since they could only really afford the most basic of cable programming, watching movies was the best option available. Given the recent passing of Robin Williams, Jess had thought about putting one of his films as a sort of personal tribute to the man that had gotten her through a lot in her life.

What Dreams May Come.

Good Will Hunting.

Dead Poets Society.

Why couldn't she have a teacher like John Keating? Someone to tell her to rip out the manual and read from the heart. Someone to encourage her to seize the day, and make her life extraordinary. Someone she could proudly call her captain. Once dinner was over, Jessica smirked and called Joey her 'captain', then asked if he'd suffer through a movie with her, and she promised not to hog all of the couch.

“That all sounds very… dramatic.” Joey smiled in reply to his sister’s account of her school day, taking note that she still didn’t seem to have any likely romantic candidates. What was wrong with the boys at her school? “I know, I know—fro-yo is a no go. I got the fro-yo memo.”

Joey laughed at his own joke, probably more pleased with himself than he ought to have been for his little rhyming retort—still sure that his ice cream surprise was well timed. He leaned over the table to take a sip of the beer that Jess had thoughtfully laid out for him to accompany the meal she was preparing. He really was lucky to have her.

“It sounds delicious! I can’t wait.” Joey smiled, laughing when Jess reprimanded him for lingering instead of taking care of the clothes. “That’s not how you use that word, you know? If you literally had nothing to wear, you’d be cooking naked.”

With that, Joey gave his sister a playful swat on the butt with her own notebook before grabbing the load of laundry and hustling back out into the rain. He knew how much Jess disliked being corrected, on her English most of all—but she had started it.

After separating the laundry by color into two stacks of dark and light colors, bought detergent with quarters and started the load of darks while consolidating the load of whites into Jess’ wicker hamper. As he was tossing their mixed things into the basket, the straps of one of Jess’ bras got caught on his wrist. As the washer hummed and rain battered the window of the small washroom, Joey halted what he was doing, taking a moment to closely observe the pale satin article, letting the softness of the satin cups trail under his fingertips, lingering over the spot on the fabric which so often held and supported her nipples.

A flash of lightning quickly brought Joey back to his senses, dropping the bra into the hamper with the other light-colored clothes and going in to eat dinner with his sister. The meal progressed pleasantly and uneventfully. Joey complimented his sister’s cooking profusely and ate every last speck that he could get at without licking the plate.

Joey was just about to go back out to change the laundry again when he heard Jess call him “Captain,” bringing a delighted smile to his lips.

“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race, and the human race is filled with passion—medicine, law, business, engineering these are noble pursuits, necessary to sustain life. Poetry, beauty, romance, love—these are what we stay alive for.” Joey muttered in response, quoting the famous quip of dialogue through a faint catch in his voice which evidenced his heavy heart. “I’m in for a movie, as long as you won’t judge me if I cry my eyes out at the end. Check the freezer by the way, there’s something in there that might help you to suck the marrow out of life.”

“Charlie, tell me why they swooned!” Joey called over his shoulder, imitating the crack in Knox’s pubescent plea from the film. He changed the clothes over in solemn silence, hoping that Jess wouldn’t hold true to her promise not to hog the couch. He wanted her close if he was going to open up that Dead Poet’s Society ache again.

"Guys aren't supposed to cry during movies," Jess said, letting her older brother finish with the laundry and get things ready in the living room while she 'investigated' the freezer for her surprise. She couldn't help but smile brightly when her hands reached in and pulled out the tub of ice cream, and she was more than tempted to have it all for herself, but she decided to scrape together two bowls instead of one.

The kitchen was filled with the sound of the shuffling of drawers as she searched around for a couple of spoons, and when she finally found some clean ones she grabbed the bowls of ice cream and headed into the living room to join her older brother. After setting the bowls down on the small table in front of the couch they'd be sharing, Jessica leaned up and planted a kiss on Joey's cheek.

"Thanks for the treat. You really didn't have to," she said with a warm smile.

A playful giggle escaped her sweet lips as she settled down onto the couch, clearly more than pleased with the treat her brother had given her.

"I suppose this lets you off the hook for today," she added as she reached forward to pick up her own bowl. Since the shirt she was wearing was just something to lounge around the house in, Jess didn't mind if it got a little dirty. She tried to keep as much of the ice cream and toppings inside the bowl as possible, but it was only natural that some of it found its way to her shirt while she watched the movie.

It wasn't long into the movie that Jess began scooting closer and closer to her brother, taking advantage of the space afforded to her on the couch and using his broader form as a pillow to rest against.

She had tried to stay awake as long as possible, but soon she had her eyes closed, and her attention shifted away from the movie and towards her shallow breathing. Although she wasn't gifted like a porn star, Jess' body had developed quite nicely over the years, and without a bra on underneath her breasts were free to push out against her shirt as she relaxed and breathed in deeply.

The dark clothes still had a while to dry, so Joey took advantage by setting the dishes and cookware to soak and setting up the old VCR that he’d brought with them from their old house. He set the movie up and hit play, adjusting the volume from the couch as Jess returned with the ice cream set into two bowls, her smile brightening the room when she entered to the sound of bagpipes coming from the TV.

Jess kissed Joey on the cheek and giggled in glee as she sat next to him on the couch, bringing a faint blush to his cheeks. He had his arm draped across the couch as he always did when he was relaxing, with one leg propped up on the edge of the coffee table.

Joey didn’t eat much of his ice cream, spooning about half into his sister’s bowl when she wasn’t looking. As the movie went on, Jess scooted closer, as she was wont to do, eventually snuggling into the side of his body where she had always seemed to fit just perfectly for as long as he could remember—it was an odd fluke of their age difference, that she always seemed to be just the right size when tucked under his arm with her head resting against his shoulder. She felt so good, she always felt so right.

Before too long, Joey felt Jess’ breath become rhythmic against his neck, softly fading off into angelic looking slumber from which it was nearly impossible to rouse her. Joey took the bowl from her hands before she spilled it—not that she’d managed to keep all of it in the bowl as she ate anyway.

Just as Knox was brushing Chris’ hair away from her face and laying a gentle kiss to her forehead, Joey did the same with Jess. Life imitating art.

“God help me…” Joey sighed, stopping the movie and turning off the TV before Knox got his ass kicked by his crush’s boyfriend.

Taking care and being as gentle as he could, Joey gathered his little sister up in his arms, cradling her against his chest and carrying her up the stairs to her bedroom. Her soft breathing continued against his neck uninterrupted as he pushed her door open with his toe and slid her into bed, tucking the covers in around her carefully and then kissing her on the lips, a tender but not quite romantic kiss.

The rest of the night, Joey finished washing and folding the clothes and running everything dirtied by dinner and dessert through the dishwasher. The folded clothes were stacked on the couch with the hampers lying next to them. He managed to polish off two other beers while waiting on the laundry and watching the news.

By the time his head hit the pillow, he felt like he might sleep for days. He faded off into noiseless slumber with his clothes still on.

Nabelius grunted as the young female slipped off his cock, her face displaying a mixture of both pain and pleasure. But while she was left completely broken, he was left feeling incredibly unsatisfied. The aged minotaur looked down at the pointy eared and fur-covered female and frowned. Yes, she'd been good, but her body wasn't strong enough to properly host the goddess of fertility.

He would have to have a word with his generals.

They had failed, yet again, to find him the right girl.

He would also have to have a word with his mystics.

Perhaps he wasn't looking in the right places. He'd conquered several nations, but none of their prized females were of any value to him.

None of them could handle Her Magic.

Her gifts.

Nabelius cleaned off his cock with what remained of the girl's dress, then reached down towards her body and removed the ruby talisman from around her neck. He looked at her face for a few moments, but he felt nothing. After clothing himself, he instructed one of his subordinates to have the girl placed into chains and sold as a sex slave. He couldn't help but smirk at the thought of her next owner trying to fill the girl up as much as he had.

He glanced at her naked form and grinned as cum continued to pour out of her pussy. Even if she didn't possess the spirit and essence of the goddess, it was likely that the young female would end up pregnant regardless.

One more bastard child for him to "worry" about.

Jessica awoke early in the morning when her alarm clock started to go off, and as she rolled over onto her side she reached out with one arm to hit the snooze button. She really didn't feel like getting up, but if she wanted to catch the bus then she'd have to start getting ready. It was times like that when she really envied her brother... envied anyone of the male species. They didn't have to worry about their hair or what clothes they were going to wear. Their morning ritual took all of ten minutes (and only if they took a shower).

When the alarm clock went off again, Jess finally rolled out of bed.

Joey, more than likely, was still asleep.

"I really hate him," she mumbled as she went downstairs to fix herself some coffee.

When she saw the neatly folded laundry, her mood softened a little bit, but she still hated him.

Well, high school was almost over.

She wouldn't have to hate him for much longer.

Pretty soon she could start sleeping in.

When it was time for her to take a shower, Jess made sure to grab her clothes and set them in her room before she locked herself in the bathroom. It took a little while for the water to reach the right temperature, somewhere between Mordor and the Arctic, and even though she didn't want to end up looking like a prune, getting out of the water after she'd been relaxing in it was a chore all to itself.

Showering was the greatest frenemy she had.

When she was finally, finally ready, Jess wrapped a fresh (and warm) towel around her body and calmed herself before braving the storm.

"Okay. You can do this," she said.

One, two, three!

"Holy fuck it's cold," Jess whined as she stepped out of the warm bathroom and into the hallway.

First world problems.

Thankfully the rest of her morning routine went smoothly, and she managed to catch the bus as it roared down her road. Since practice was cancelled yesterday, Jess would be late in getting home that night. She made sure to leave a reminder for her brother that she wouldn't be there to get dinner started, ending the note with a few hugs and kisses.

Okay.

She didn't really hate him after all.

Minos smiled a crooked-toothed grin as his Master Nabelius instructed him to dispose of yet another inferior candidate. Minos only vaguely understood the objective of the great minotaur’s ceaseless search for a proper vessel—but he knew intimately how little Nabelius cared what became of those who proved incapable of satiating the fearsome general’s expectations.

“Of course, Master. It shall be done.” The goblin smirked, shaking the Halfling girl by her chin. “Hey! Hey, slut! Wakey-wakey! Time to wake up and service some more cocks.”

When shaking her by the chin failed to inspire wakefulness in the glazed-eyed female, Minos tapped her lightly on the cheek with the back of his hand. When that failed too, he slapped her harder—still to no effect. He clapped his hands loudly in front of her face, he pinched her exposed nipples and splashed water across her face—but all the girl could do was moan faintly and mutter “cock, cock, cock” like a mantra of the damned.

Increasingly frustrated with this newly-minted slave’s unresponsiveness, Minos at last placed his foot on her stomach, just below her naval and pressed down. The pressure on her stomach spilled forth a gushing torrent of cum from deep within her body, spreading around her hips in a warm, thick puddle. This, at last, elicited a reaction from the mind-broken slave—she groaned as if in severe pain and rolled over, clutching her stomach. More cum still flowed from her undercarriage, her pussy and ass both drooling thick semen into the puddle she’d already made, drying on her skin where it didn’t reach the floor.

Minos helped her to her feet by the hair and clasped an iron collar around her throat, coupling it by slender chains to similar restraints that clicked around her wrists. Finally beginning to process the events unfolding around her, the reality of the girl’s situation began to dawn on her.

The failed candidate’s eyes shot open, suddenly lucid and full of life for the first time since Minos had met her. She suddenly began to struggle, thrashing against her restraints in futile desperation.

“No! No! No! No!” She was wailing, shaking her jizz-matted hair and trying to back away from Minos. “No! Oh, no! You can’t!”

“Hush now, slave. It’s done already.” Minos sneered at her, leaning his shoulders forward and dragging her by her collar and wrist cuffs across the Master’s immaculate marble floor. “Be glad I don’t make you clean your mess with your face.”

Slathered in cum and still dribbling, it was useless for the girl to try and resist as she slid across the floor, leaving a slug trail of cum in her wake.

“You’re only making it worse for yourself.” Minos reminded her. “You’re a slave already. Do you know what happens to disobedient slaves?”

She did know—and showed that she knew with solemn compliance for the rest of her humiliating march down to the barracks. Minos’ arrival with the girl in tow received a rousing welcome from the soldiers gathered in the barracks—all quite familiar with the fringe benefits of Nabelius’ search for the perfect vessel.

“Enjoy yourselves men, but don’t get carried away. My Master wishes the whore to be sold in her present condition. Any reduction in her price will be recouped by violent action.” Minos called to his eager audience, shoving the girl into the welcoming arms of the sex-starved troops. “Have fun.”

Catcalling, whooping and deriding, the circle of soldiers closed around the girl swiftly. The unmistakable sounds of plaintive whimpers and flesh striking flesh echoed off the stone walls as Minos left, with his head held high. He was anxious for some new blood, a fresh conquest… though perhaps he’d take a turn with the Halfling after the troops were finished if his Master didn’t require anything further of him.

Minos liked them best after they were well tarnished and broken beyond repair. All those beautiful, dirty, pretty things that would never be what they were before.

*~*~*

The obnoxious claxon of his alarm roused Joey from his sound slumber in the midst of some thoroughly strange and frightening dream that he only half remembered. He groaned as he rolled over and sat up, running his fingers fruitlessly through the tangled auburn mess of his hair. He was desperately trying to remember the dream he’d been having when another blast of his alarm interrupted him and pushed the dream back into the impenetrable chasm of his subconscious.

Joey showered, brushed his teeth and slathered on a healthy dose of extra strength deodorant and slipped into his spandex biking outfit, branded with the colors and logo of the courier service which employed him.

After wheeling his bike carefully out of the closet, Joey took a few moments to check the brakes, the gears and the fluidity of the chain. When he was satisfied that the rainfall hadn’t harmed his precious conveyance, Joey slipped on his helmet and hefted the bike onto one shoulder. He toasted one piece of wheat bread and decided to forgo butter or jam, parking the piece of crunchy bread between his teeth as he spotted the note on the kitchen table.

A smile crept around the piece of dry toast as he read the reminder from his sister, spangled on the back end with more hugs and kisses than necessary—but each in its own way warming his heart. Joey often felt guilty—no, responsible for the fact that Jess had to grow up without their parents around. He wished that he could have done a better job, done more to help her cope, but he was struggling with the loss in his own way and all too often neglected things that true parents would never overlook (at least he thought they wouldn’t). He knew that he’d done his best, done more than most others his age would even be capable of doing, but he was always worried that it wasn’t enough. Every X and every O did a little to alleviate that weight from his shoulders.

Joey loved Jess so much that it made him sick.

Pocketing the note, Joey stomped down the steps and sent his bike rolling out ahead of him, jumping astride it while it was already in motion, pushing down on the pedal in the same motion with which he crunched into the piece of dry toast. It was burned too, he realized.

If he hurried, Joey knew he could make it to the city in forty-five minutes. He’d need to ride like the wind today, as lateness was the cardinal sin for bike messengers.

When Nabelius conferred with his magicians, they assured him that they would find a suitable host for the goddess' powers. As with most of his underlings, he promised them wealth and power if they succeeded, and death if they failed in their task. To encourage them to do their best he also provided them with some company, and once they had finished they left their private chambers and assembled by their altar. It would take some time to search for the chosen female, and they had been assured they would be uninterrupted while they cast their spells.

In the meantime, Nabelius met with a few of his generals to plan out their next assault.

There were a few small villages along the way to the nearest rebel city, and Nabelius felt confident in being able to overrun their defenses.

But they were stubborn little pricks, and hidden behind their walls they must have felt invincible.

Nabelius knew that no wall was unbreachable. They all had their weak points. It was just a matter of finding out where they were.

But he couldn't get her out of the back of his mind.

She'd be absolutely perfect.

Flawless.

His cock grew hard at the thought... even if he couldn't picture her face.
