It's been stuck on "steal and post what you don't understand on a topic irrelevant to the Web site" for the six years I've been posting here. I don't think a nudge will do anything.

I wish that he would go through life being someone who actually could communicate.

BTW, since Trysail brought it up; I was entirely mistaken to mention Costco in the company of Walmart. I have found a lot of information on Costco, and it is one of the extremely few companies that actually follow genuine capitalist practices-- such as reinvesting into the community where the stores are located, paying taxes, giving workers a decent wage.

Just stopped by to see where this thread has gone, and I see you are still duking it out over here. I do wonder why name calling is so prevalent on LIT. I usually have to wade through the insults to find the posts with interest, and I must admit, there have been some very intelligent responses. Carry on with my blessings.

You invited the name calling by posting a political thread to an erotica board, Allard. I'm often surprised by what you find surprising. You are sooo 60s rock concert valley girl.

People come here because they like porn, not because they are intelligent or educated. Left or right wing, religious affiliations galore -- there is only one thing we can all count on having in common-- porn.

I once was in an intellectual conversation thread here on Lit. Then the trolls turned it, because they couldn't understand the conversations.

Porn's made some lazy.

TILT, Stella. Keeping it within those now posting to this thread, point out to me a single posting that Trysail has posted in the, say, last five years, that indicates it is porn that has drawn him to this board. What has drawn him here is that it's an unmoderated forum that won't just kick his ass off for irrelevant reposting of copyrighted rant material. Porn has absolutely nothing to do with Trysail being here.

I have no intention of getting into a pissing contest with you, sr71plt, and thank you in advance for making me feel so special, because you took the time to insult me, too.

Nowhere does it say on LIT that posting a thread invites insults. The insults are freely given around here, much more than I prefer, and I think it makes everyone look childish. I rarely post anything political for that very reason.

Opinions can be given without insults, if one just takes the time.

But don't let my plea for civility stop you. Be just as insulting as you like, if that is what rings your chimes.

And yes, I am a 60s love and peace flower child. And proud of it. Not a valley girl, though. You missed your mark, there.

I think it's the Book Antigua font. He can't live without it.

It's not the wierdest fetish that we've seen come down the pike but it might be in the top ten...

In life we have to accept some things we don't like

When I'm driving down the interstate here in Florida and I see a family huddled around a cop car while the police tear their car apart. I know it is an illegal search, but since this is a Police state, I just drive on by, thankful that they didn't get me.

It makes me ashamed of myself but I do it. I feel that it is similar to a german crossing the street to avoid a jew getting hassled by the brown shirts or a white man not helping a black man getting hassled by bigots.

But when it is as easy as this forum makes it to speak my feelings about the shit I don't like. Well, I just have to have my say.

I don't hate these people who post their right wing views, but I don't respect them either. Here in the forum, I don't have to drop my eyes and walk on by the bullies while have their way with someone.

I wish I had the courage to do it in real life, but I think that I would be in jail shortly there after.

Yep, that's precisely a reflection of that "let's just all sit around smoking pot, humming "Kumbaya," and imagining the world as a dream castle" aura that you exude that I find so fascinating and so "you" on the board. It's quite in keeping with "you" that you thought we'd all just hold hands and think sweet thoughts in response to posting a "congratulations to the president for winning the election" thread.

Please substantiate your claims to an illegal search.

an illegal search

That would be a search conducted without a warrant. Say a cop stops you for a traffic stop and decides that you look like you might do drugs and decides to search your car.

No, you've not offered evidence, just opinion.

For the police to search without a warrent, they ASK for permission. When you say yes, they then search. You can say No.

But the fact is that when it is you and the cop side the road, you don't have any rights. I have been there and if they ask it is by way of being sarcastic, not by way of acknowledging your rights. It is pretty much your word against their's and yours don't count.

Do you really think all those people getting busted are giving their permission to search their cars? If you say no, then you get to watch the search from the back seat of the cop car.

Yes you can say no. Then it is up to the officer or officers to either get a warrant or a drug dog. Or drop it. Most cops are savvy enough to spot who is and who isn't doing something illegal.

Some people are just more paranoid than others.

I have a locked cover on the back of my truck, which is a red flag for a lot of cops. I've had dozens of officers ask to look inside over the years when I've been driving back from south Texas. I know and they know that the stop was bogus. A license plate light out or some other minor thing. The thing is after I get out of the truck and talk to the officer only one has ever opened the back up.

Act all nervous and shit and yeah, they will search every nook and cranny.

Try driving an old Ramcharger down along the border. They are the drug runners truck of choice. You'll get stopped ever few miles until the get to know the truck and whose driving it.

Your education is waiting beside the road for you here in the Sunshine State. I am not making fun of you, but have you ever had any dealings with the law? Tx Rad is right when he says it all depends on how you handle yourself. If you seem spooky to them they will tear your car apart right before your eyes. But that is only one of many possible triggers. How loud the radio is or what type of music you are listening to, as well as the kind of clothes you are wearing.

I have been stopped many times and only searched once since I moved to Florida. But you are mistaken if you think you can just let them know that you know your rights and they will behave themselves. If in the past you have been stopped and let go , it was because the cop didn't suspect you of carrying.

If you don't smoke pot, and know that your car is clean. leave a couple of rolling papers on the floor by your seat. The next time you get stopped, you will see a different sort of cop.

I would like to take a moment to respond to something Stella said earlier, that people come here for porn.

I came to LIT for other erotica writers. I wanted real feedback on my novel and found what I was looking for here.

Stella was the first person to take an interest in my story and provided excellent positive feedback as well as criticism. I thank you very much for that, Stella.

The main reason I am here has become a social one. I enjoy my vocabulary thread, along with several other members, and I basically keep to myself. The political, and often insulting, rampages that seem to be a constant feature here, are basically meaningless, as no one member has the power to change the situation.

My two cents, and I doubt there will be any more posts from me. I will just wait until no one else is posting to this thread to find the few intelligent gems hidden under the 'you know what'.

Dealing with FL law:

1. 1982 - stopped as I was entering the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg. Why? Because I looked "Hispanic" and there was an APB out for someone "darkskinned." One of the 3 officers that stopped me said I fit the description to a T, the other 2 disagreed. When I showed my i.d. they all apologized and left me alone.

2. Two days later in Tampa. I was stopped, again, for "walking while looking Hispanic." This time, a state trooper walked into the scene, apologized and told me to have a good day in Busch Gardens

Dealing with law:

2001 - standing outside and Barnes and Noble, waiting for my wife and her sister to pick me up, a cop car pulled up and asked me what I was doing. After I put down my book and told them I was waiting for my wife and sister-in-law, they rolled away. I guess I looked dangerous, standing, reading.
