I admire

those that often slug though the SOS and do New Poems R (whatever)
those that leave comments on others work (yeh, me included)

writing "poetry" is pitifully easy, thinking of something to say isn't.
start with "I like this" -here you can even cut and paste (just read it first)
go from there
to
those that leave more poems than comments, what the hell are you thinking?
that somehow YOU are more important then everyone else, nah that can't be, can it?

anyway this must be the 10,000 thread that said something to this effect, curiously, most weren't started by me. curiously, i'm following tradition.

Is yellow your color for fear?
Or do you think your letters rays of golden sunshine?
Angry piss yellow
Or just your chaff thrown to the wind?

(Perhaps the people who write more poetry than comments
Do so simply because they are better at expressing their own ideas and feelings
Rather than understanding another's emotions and dreams enough to comment on them.)

Peace

As easy as pulling teeth?
Easy? Try growing one.
Poetry is called the crying art.
Good Reasons for it. I'm sure.

i guess i'm expressing mine.
i would like to hear more about this idea

because people that do feel that way generally are, shall we say, self absorbed, now how are going to effectively express your ideas and feelings to another if you have no idea how it works

perhaps these "expressions" are not poetry

Sass is golden, when it doesn't flame. I like sass.
(I was just musing on what the color yellow might represent in the OP's mood when he commented. )

I like to comment on poetry and will give my feedback. Some folks may misinterpret my feedback though... *shrug* In that case, silence is golden.

poetry is a personal expression. Do you see Alien wingdings or signs of intelligent life? It's great if a connection is made, or someone is inspired. Dance to your own heart rhythms.

(Is Billy Idol's "Dancing with Myself" poetry? Or is he just busting out singing to himself in the mirror? I like it. )

not much of either, the object of expression is reception

it's tough to sing on paper, the paper gets wet and the ink runs

but poetry is what You call it, you think it is, it is

i like billy idol, but wouldn't call it poetry, poetry is what you do when you don't have a band behind you

Have you seen how long the "isolated blurt" threads have become? To get response posting there is not the idea. It's just to spout off. Maybe we should start a poetry thread called "Geysers in the Storm". No feedback necessary.

(Honestly... I and many others know what it's like to have thousands of views and only one person to gasp "OMG, I can see my reflection in that mess of spew...." I feel what you said in that first post... Communication is so desirable. )

I agree that communication is desirable--when the sound of it rises above the communicative content of infantile burbles and cries for mommy.

That is not so much poetry as masturbation to a backbeat. Any man can do it, given a little hair grease.

Were it not so late, I'd like some expresso.

I like expression as well as reviews. Twelvie, I get your drift but maybe some people don't feel comfortable with writing more than how the poem affected them. I think Tazz is fine. At least I know he has been there and read. Even the insults have a certain value because I know I provoked something. But I may have an odd way of seeing things. I often do.

I don't think this is odd. It's much the way I feel when I know someone has read my poem. I may not hustle back and conspicuously thank everyone who's read and commented but if I actually pause to check my posted poems and the comments on them, then I'll spare a word of appreciation. I think everyone's time is as valuable as my own, so giving thanks for their time, no matter how obscure the comment, is small payment in return.
