it really depends on the brand. i've tried several different ones and none of them taste even vaguely similar to each other. it's really quite odd.

Well, according to science, I would definitely say it's because the leaves probably got a little damp once, which released small amounts of tannic acid that in turn disrupted the catechin's reduction of the deposition, which, to the human tastebud, registered as similar to ethyl-3-hydroxybutyrate. Nothing to worry about as it's only very rarely had fatal side effects in humans.

tea tastes nothing like pee. i mean unless you happened to pour salt and ammonia in yours. i know i don't. lemon and sweetner work much better. personal taste i guess.

Once the dishwasher screwed up and didn't rinse very well. I drank from a cup and it did taste sorta fruity. Also nasty. But a fruity nasty.
