A Chevrolet dealership that is part of an auto dealer group in Toms River, New Jersey, has sold only one Volt in the last year, said its president Adam Kraushaar. The dealership sells 90 to 100 Chevrolets a month.

The weak sales are forcing GM to idle the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant that makes the Chevrolet Volt for four weeks from September 17, according to plant suppliers and union sources. It is the second time GM has had to call a Volt production halt this year.

The Volt fiasco defines government and politics of the present times. In 2012 government exists to ordain winners, punish opponents and competitors, and intimidate the rest of us.

Isn't that the price for the damn thing? What are they doing, giving them away?

That "cost" per car includes research and design investment costs divided by the number of cars built. It's not the cost to manufacture each car.

The Volt was never meant to make money, not in its first generation. People should stop bitching about it not money. The Prius didn't make money until recently (when it began it's 3rd generation) and now it does. The Hybrid Civic has been a big loser but is on track to become profitable soon. See how that works?

The Volt is a POS. And a three year lease that only cost the consumer $5,000 is giving away the company. But, see as how the majority stockholder is the US Government, I guess the rest of the stockholder have no say as to how the company is run into the ground.

Starting to decend in to Jen territory there fuckwaffle. It's okay if you slow down a bit.

Simple economics dictates that if you can't sell the damn thing, it will never make money. At least the Toyota is selling.

There is a finite demand, and right now too many players. Plus, no one wants the Chevy.

Toyota has always made a better automobile.

The only Chevy people want is the Camero and the Silverado, all the other are junk.
