and
Story Concept​

The "Baxter Court" role play is unique, in that it is a group role play comprised of writing done mostly outside of the Main IC Thread. (This is spoken more of below.)

Baxter Court is an 11 home cul-de-sac populated by liars, cheats ... and other fun people. The characters will include the residents and anyone you can imagine that they would interact with, from delivery drivers to pool boys to bible thumpers to census takers to political volunteers.

As for what happens in Baxter Court, just imagine every soap opera -- day time or night time -- you've ever seen, and place the most dramatic events here. Sex, between loving couples and adulterous cheats; drug use and alcohol abuse; property crimes, embezzling, computer hacking; and just about anything else fun.

Writers are allowed -- encouraged, as a matter of fact -- to write multiple characters. Many of the characters will be Baxter Court residents, but most likely won't be.

Come Create a Character or Two:
  • Residents: married, single, cohabiting; with and without families.
  • Friends and family.
  • Commercial folk, from delivery drivers to bible thumpers to meter readers.
  • One time NPCs playing a single scene, or long term PCs who post for the long run.

Don't like Group Role Plays...? This isn't one ... not really, anyway: Many people don't like to get involved in "group" role plays because -- once they get enough people to be considered a group -- they are so hard to follow, they get confusing, and there is so much reading that doesn't affect your own characters.

So, this one will operate as a kind of cross between a group role play, conducted in the "In Character" (IC) thread; and a bunch of one-to-ones in what I will call the Personal Threads (PT), simply because they need a name.
(I saw this on another role play site and it seemed to make writing, reading, and enjoying much more fun. They had over 50 writers with over 200 characters, yet I was able to catch up on the part of the story that applied to me within about 20 minutes. Cool.)​
This is how it will work:
  • All characters will be introduced in the IC. Actions and activities that are "public" -- working in the yard, attending the Community BBQ, throwing a fit at the kids' soccer game -- will be posted in the IC.
  • When a pair (or more :D ) of characters goes off for some "alone time", they will start a PT and link it to the IC where it begins. They will finish their scene -- be it a conversation, sex, a fight, a private discussion, what ever -- and then, once finished, link it back to the IC. It sounds difficult, but trust me, there's nothing to it.
  • The nice thing about doing this is that an individual character can be in two places at one time. Example:
    • Bob and Sally -- two writers -- are in a personal thread having sex while on a business trip on (game time) Wednesday.
    • While that PT is being written, back in the IC where it is Thursday, Bob can be having a fight with his wife -- who is NOT Sally :D and who is written by a third writer.
    • This allows Bob's writer to be writing with two different writers, two different characters, two different (RP) times, and not be held up with nothing to do because he is waiting for either of the other writers to post.

How To Use The
Writer Discussion Thread​

(The below is intended to make this RP enjoyable by making it easier for the Host to organize it for you, the writers.
I explain this because I was accused of being controlling by another writer.
This isn't about control; it's about me wanting to spend some time writing actual IC posts,
rather than spending my day working on the OOC thread.
If everyone does what follows, we will all have fun, and I won't sit here pulling my hair out.

What this thread is for:
  • For the Host to keep all writers up to date on important information.
  • For all writers to post ideas for collaborations. If you have a plot line that needs a collaborating character, this is the place to look for a writing partner. Please, be brief in your solicitation; a basic description of the idea is sufficient, complete with gender/age (approximate) of the collaborating character you are looking for. Specify whether this idea is a hard idea, meaning you don't want to detour away from a set direction and outcome; or whether you are flexible on the direction and outcome.
  • For the Host to introduce new characters. (Writers who wish to join or are already a member and wish to create a character should PM the Host for a Character Sheet. Once the character is approved, he/she will be introduced here and added to the Cast of Characters.)

What this thread is NOT for:
  • Chit chat. Please conduct your chit chat in PMs.
  • Comments on what other writers post here. If you like a plot suggestion or want to create a character that another writer suggested/solicited, PM them. Once a solicited role is filled, I beg you, please come back to your original post and put FILLED at the top, so others will know.
My concern is obvious: this thread will be inundated with crap!

    • She belongs to the local Y--gets a discount because she teaches there. Her legs are really strong and she wins bets with guys because she can bench press about 200 lbs with her legs.
    • She is not one of those women who pick at a salad and call it dinner. She eats what she wants and enjoys it. Between working out and dancing, she burns a lot of calories.

  • Would love to find the love of her life, but in the meantime, isn't averse to having some fun and playing the field.
  • Her day job doesn't bring in as much money as she'd like, so augmenting with belly dancing has been a good thing for her bottom line.
  • Her girlfriends tease her that she should find a sugar daddy so she can quit her job and dance full time.

MORE DETAIL:
  • Mindy has always had a passion for dancing. She danced ballet, tap, did some modern and lyrical, some Hip Hop.
  • She discovered middle eastern dance in college. She is good at it and after two yrs of lessons bought a few costumes, created her own routines and began dancing for pay.
  • She performs at middle eastern restaurants and for private parties.
  • She is NOT a stripper and makes that very clear when she takes a private gig. She keeps it classy, but the dance can be very erotic.
  • She's between boyfriends right now.
  • The people she works with don't know she's a belly dancer. She's afraid that they will think she's a stripper. Some people even think belly dancing is too risque, so she keeps quiet about it.

DIRECTION:
  • Where would you like to take your character "sexually"?
    • I am willing to go with the flow and see what the story dictates.
    • I could see that she'd be willing to explore her sexuality more, experiment.
    • I expect she has some fantasies based on the belly dancer and the sultan, or some such.
    • I'm not sure how she feels about other women. She might be bi-curious, but definitely prefers men.
  • Where would you like to take your character outside of sexual issues?
    • Not sure. Again, it would go by the dictates of the story.
    • What happens in her interactions with other characters.
  • What are your personal limits on sexual writing?
    • Again, it depends on the story. I'm a writer, so I push my limits with my characters. I'm not them after all, and they sometimes surprise me with their likes and dislikes. If something starts going off in a direction that is a real turnoff, I'll holler.
    • Bondage, D/s, and light BDSM are things I've written, so I am fine with that.
    • I love power struggles in a relationship. I don't write women who are doormat Submissives though.
    • This is one of my favorite SRPs.

Your opinion on "cross-gender" writing.
  • I'm a writer, so I have to write male and female chars. I can write either, in or out of a sexual situation.
  • I have written as a guy having sex with another guy. (my co-writer was a woman as well.) It was pretty hot stuff.
  • Apparently it's straight women writing this sort of thing and straight women are the ones reading it. I write with other women on another site, so I've done any sort of configuration there is.
  • But I have less experience with girl-on-girl.

BACKGROUND:

    • Born in Baxter, which was settled by and named for his mother's paternal Great Grandfather.
    • Spunky child, but dutiful to his family.
    • Learned the value of work, money, and friendships from an early age.
  • Teens:
    • Was a high school jock, student council president, and FBLA member; very popular with both the girls and boys.
    • Senior year, met Joyce -- 3 years his senior, in college -- at a New Years Eve party. Shockingly, he knocked her up that night but did not see her until she brought him the news.
    • They began dating and shortly after he graduated, they got married.
  • Adulthood:
    • Days before his first daughter was born, his mother died of cancer. They named the daughter for his mother, Samantha.
    • His father was a wealthy man, having inherited a lot and turned it into more. He designed and built Baxter Court and still owned several of the houses at the time of his death -- in a car accident -- two years after his wife passed.
    • Mark, then in college, began selling off the homes and investing the money in community projects, including restoring the Baxter Wetlands to the east of Baxter Court,
    • Mark's worth at the time of the RP's start was about 3 million dollars. Needless to say, the Davis children never wanted for anything.
    • Mark finished his Masters in Education and began tutoring and teaching math and physics at CU.
    • Mark had always had an eye for beautiful young women, but it wasn't until he was seduced by a fellow teacher that he quickly became a philandering prick.
    • Now, he simply can't stay away from the young women. He has at least one mistress at all times, and even provides them with cars and apartments when the need -- and the satisfaction -- dictates it.

PROFESSION/EDUCATION: Above, for the most part.

    • An unnamed PhD candidate who is raising his illegitimate son. (Available Character)
    • And a minimum wage barista at the Starbucks where he frequently wets his whistle ... among other body parts. (Available Character)
  • He suspects that his wife is cheating on him, too, but as he is a philanderer himself, he doesn't care.
  • He has been in contact recently with his ten years younger female cousin, a babe with whom he was getting friendly with in a hot tub after a family reunion just before his wife showed up and ruined it ... or saved him, he's not sure. She is in financial straits and needs assistance. Of course, Mark is wondering what he's gonna get for this assistance...
  • And he's also been eying the young bride from down the street -- a mail order bride, the rumor goes -- who likes to jog the Baxter Wetlands Trail and stop out back of Mark and Joyce's home and do her very erotic stretches ... knowing he is watching her closely.


DIRECTION:
  • Where would you like to take your character "sexually"?
    • Anywhere and everywhere!
    • Mark likes sex, and he isn't picky about who he fucks. He's even considered men, but has simply never met one he'd want to be with.
  • Where would you like to take your character outside of sexual issues?
    • I would like to involve him in some extortion, both by him and of him.
    • He has always been financially comfortable. It might be good for him to run into some money problems, possibly even with the IRS. Anyone want to play a sexy tax woman...? Or maybe a tax man who is bi or gay and not afraid to extort a client?
    • And I would like Mark to be someone's knight in shining armor. Who needs help?
  • What are your personal limits on sexual writing?
    • I don't write nasty porn. My writing can get descriptive at times, but I prefer to think of it as erotica.
    • I like a sex scene to get over in about 6-8 posts, as opposed to dragging on forever and ever!
    • And I like a bit of reality, too. Not everyone always gets off, let alone 10 times a night; and yet, sometimes, you touch that right place, and HO boy, listen to those multiple orgasms!
    • I've never written a sex scene between 2 male PCs, not because I don't want to do it but because I've never personally fucked another man; I don't think I could realistically write it. But, if my co-writer -- male or female, it doesn't matter -- wants to skip over some of the details of the actual fuck'n'suck, I would definitely like to explore a gay/bi situation for Mark or one of my other characters.

  • I have written female characters in lesbian situations, but the only female character I wrote in a female-male situation was being raped, and I let the male's writer control most of the scene.

    • One drunken fumble too many and Anna-Marie got pregnant. Gerry, at 19 years of age and in the middle of his college degree, did the right thing and married her.

FYI for all writers:
  • I want to apologize for the Character Sheet seeming so overwhelming; then, I want to explain why. I refer to the character sheets each and every time that I write about a character in my posts. I need them to be formatted consistently. I'm anal that way; I don't do anything half ass.
  • So, as I said in the CS instructions, don't be offended if I edited your profile. All of the content is still there, as you wrote it! All I did was move stuff around to fit a format style.
  • I believe I have all of the submitted profiles in place on the "Cast of Characters" page. If you're is not there, I didn't get it ... or I accidentally deleted it. Oops. If you don't see your profile there, please send it to me again.
  • I am still missing a pic. If you are using an image site that will not allow you to share pics elsewhere:
    • Download a pic directly from the web to me in a PM.
    • I will manipulate the address to allow us to use it.
    • I will post it to the "Cast" and PM it back to you.
    • I used to launder money this way, too. Haaaa! I wish.
  • If your profile has been posted, you can begin posting.
  • I have added a few lines to the first page of the Writers Discussion Thread that tell the role play's current date, weather, and upcoming events. Refer to it if you are going to talk about such things as ... the date, the weather, and upcoming events. :D
  • I will update the role play status occasionally, to indicate the beginning of a new day. Remember: This status only applies to the main IC thread. If you have a personal thread that you're writing and it's falling behind the main thread's timeline -- which is one of the reasons we right them and perfectly permissible -- remember that you are on a different date. (I would include the date in the first post of the Personal thread.)
  • I also included a map of Baxter Court on that same page. If you have a preference which house you live in, click on the link and look at the list of homes that are available. You can post a pic of your house on your profile, if you are as anal as I am. Keep this in mind:
    • Baxter Court and all of its original homes were built between 1960 and 1980.
    • That doesn't necessarily mean that you couldn't have one newer than that; maybe the original one burned.
    • They are all either 2 story homes; or 2 story with visible basement windows, making it appear almost like a 3 story home. Nothing taller.
    • They are all on lots about the size of that in the pic below for the Davis home. (This was a 1960's neighborhood, before city planner began cramming homes together so tightly that you could hear your neighbor fart even with your television on.)
    • They all have some sort of covered porch or covered entry.
    • The reason for this is to create a sense of neighborhood consistency. We don't want McMansions next to one bedroom single wide trailer houses, do we?
    • Remember, the idea here is to create a sense of neighborhood, not show up the other writers by having the biggest frickin' house you can fit on your lot. This is Mark Davis's home, at the end of the street (66 Baxter Court).
    • What happens if a writer picks a pic for a home that is just not suitable for the neighborhood...? Nothing.
Okay, I've rambled enough. I'm going to introduce a character and go outside and do chores.

BTW, I introduced several potential female characters in Mark's Profile. If you are female and want to begin some collaboration, take a look. There are good girls, bad girls, in between girls...

Moving to Baxter Court soon.​

MALE, 26

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

    • Currently:Died dirty blond, straightened, and pulled back tight in a pony tail that reaches to between his shoulder blades.
    • Soon: Back to its natural dark brown curls, cut short, and gelled close to his head.

PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
  • Quiet, reserved.
  • Friendly with people he knows ... of which, there are few now.
  • Bisexual, but only for his business as a male prostitute. He very much likes women, but isn't afraid to satisfy a man if he will profit from the encounter.

FAMILY: No family whatsoever.

BACKGROUND:
  • Childhood:
    • Born in a small desert town on the Oregon/Idaho border.
    • Had a brother who died young of AIDS (from heroine) and a sister who was raped and murdered by an uncle that James later killed and buried in the desert. Ironically, both siblings -- who were older than he -- died within days their own 16th birthdays.
    • His mother turned to prostitution and paid him little attention after he turned 12.
  • Teens: Always without money, James, too, turned to prostitution to make a living.
    • He quit school, but not education; he had access to the internet at the County library and spent an average of 8 hours a day there, learning ... and staying away from home.
    • He has a violin playing client who taught him how to play in return for a reduced rate on being serviced.
  • Adulthood:
    • At barely 18, he witnessed a Colombian drug lord personally executing a local cocaine distributor (Max Payton) and went into Witness Security Protection (WitSec).
    • Weeks later, he fled, blowing his identity; and a year after that, a prosecutor mishandled his identity information and again he was moved and given a new identity.
    • For the past 5 years (prior to the RP's start), he has been in a town near Baxter. He wants out of WitSec so badly that he returned to prostitution and began investing his earnings in an account that he can access from any bank at any time. Currently, there is nearly $150,000 in it.
    • James has a client on Baxter Court and saw a home their that has been foreclosed upon. He has continued working at an accelerated rate to earn what he needs ... to simply walk out on WitSec and start a new life.

PROFESSION/EDUCATION:
  • Male prostitute.
  • Self taught after quitting his first year of high school.

HOBBIES, HABITS, CLUBS, etc.
  • Photography and drawing.
  • The violin, as stated. (He has 2 of them; one for his own use, and one for faking lessons with sex clients, in case he has to flee without it.)

CURRENT SITUATION:
  • James is servicing a married, male client who lives on Baxter Court.
  • He has been saving every dollar he earns, $150,000 in all, invested in an account that he can draw on from any ATM.
  • He has negotiated the purchase of a foreclosed upon home on Baxter Court.

DIRECTION:
  • Where would you like to take your character "sexually"?
    • James wants to get out of prostitution, but he won't; it is all he has ever known and, without some other way to make a living, it is all he can fall back upon.
    • He has a client on Baxter Court currently (my own NPC, unless someone wants to write him), but I am looking for another character -- male or female -- to take over after the original client panics and tells him never to come back.
  • Where would you like to take your character outside of sexual issues?
    • James is going to be cautious about meeting people on Baxter Court initially. I am probably looking for just one character for him to initially befriend, until finally he has the courage to meld into the community.
    • I can see James getting caught up in a great deal of drama. WitSec will be looking for him, his looks will draw him attention from horny neighbors, his sudden appearance will seem mysterious to all, and -- of course -- there are always the Colombians.
    • Also, with no skills, he might end up doing something worse than just prostitution.

  • Sort of quiet; shy with people he doesn't know, and introverted even with those he does know.

  • He has no after school activities with kids his age, which doesn't help him make friends. His only "friends" are his relatives, in Baxter and neighboring cities.
  • He is a voyeur, using a pair of telescopes, an infrared spotter's scope, and a parabolic microphone to watch/listen to his neighbors.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION:
  • Virgin, but he knows that he likes girls.
  • He used to masturbate when he watched the gay man across the cul-de-sac and his male "friend" have sex, but he doesn't think he would ever do anything with another guy.

  • He recently recorded -- though not completely or with great quality -- Abigail Davis catching her father fucking a woman who was not Abby's mother. Eventually, as he dinks around with his equipment, he is going to discover that he did in fact record the conversation in which Abby and her father nearly fucked one another.

DIRECTION:
  • Where would you like to take your character "sexually"?
    • I would like him to lose his virginity. While he is infatuated with Abigail Davis, I would rather some sort of twist come about which causes him to lose his virtue to an expected lover.
    • Once he loses his virginity, he is going to become obsessed with sex.
  • Where would you like to take your character outside of sexual issues?
    • I want him to record something terribly incriminating. Perhaps someone admits a crime, or an affair, or a plan to commit either.
    • What will he do with this information? And will he get away with what ever it is?

What are your personal limits on sexual writing?
  • I don't write nasty porn. My writing can get descriptive at times, but I prefer to think of it as erotica.
  • I like a sex scene to get over in about 6-8 posts, as opposed to dragging on forever and ever!
  • And I like a bit of reality, too. Not everyone always gets off, let alone 10 times a night; and yet, sometimes, you touch that right place, and HO boy, listen to those multiple orgasms!
  • I've never written a sex scene between 2 male PCs, not because I don't want to do it but because I've never personally fucked another man; I don't think I could realistically write it. But, if my co-writer -- male or female, it doesn't matter -- wants to skip over some of the details of the actual fuck'n'suck, I would definitely like to explore a gay/bi situation for Mark or one of my other characters.
Your opinion on "cross-gender" writing. (A simple "yes" or "no" will suffice, but you can explain if you wish.)
  • I have written female characters in lesbian situations, but the only female character I wrote in a female-male situation was being raped, and I let the male's writer control most of the scene.

    • Finally developed and immediately gained the notice of teenage boys and some of their fathers.
    • Attended CU after high school as an Education major and English minor, obeying the desires of her father to attend the same university where he was an alumni.
    • Lost her virginity her freshman year of college in a whirlwind of alcohol and casual sex. Grades were not good that year.
    • When she was almost 20, she and Mark Davis -- her cousin, 10 years her senior -- were getting "cozy" in a hot tub after a family reunion, naked and drinking cheap wine. Jokes were made about how being consenting adults trumped the whole incest issue, and they were about to fuck when they were interrupted. They weren't caught, and no one was the wiser; they got away clean, but never tried to hook up again.
  • Adulthood:
    • Graduated from CU after changing her ways her junior year by giving up the alcohol and reckless fun. Was soon offered an internship in her home city teaching high school English. The same school offered her a job at the end of her internship.
    • She had remained in contact via mail and email with Mark Davis, and they have briefly chatted at 3 family reunions since their encounter a decade earlier. They have been friendly, but made no efforts to reconnect.
    • She had been going through rough financial times. These rough times began with the loss of her job due to student created rumors that she was sleeping with one of the seniors. The rumors proved popular enough to prevent her from getting any kind of teaching job in Seattle.
    • Recently, she has been in contact with Mark Davis about getting a loan to keep afloat. Mark pointed out -- politely! -- that she would have no way to pay him back, then suggested, "We should get together ... to talk about this." Anna never did explain to him exactly why she was having financial troubles and never confessed the loss of her job.


PROFESSION/EDUCATION:

CURRENT SITUATION: What is your character up to? The good and the bad.
  • With the loss of her job as a teacher, Anna couldn't pay her rent and found herself homeless in Seattle. Not wanting to ask her parents for help, she decided to seek out her cousin Mark instead and surprise him by heading to Baxter Court.
  • In the meantime, she still has bills to pay (student loan and car payments). So, she's taken on a part-time job delivering pizzas while living out of her car.

DIRECTION:
  • Where would you like to take your character "sexually"?
    • Anna is likely to be influenced sexually by the people around her and by the situations she finds herself in.
    • Where that leads depends on how the story goes, but I'm fine with any reasonable outcome.
  • Where would you like to take your character outside of sexual issues?
    • I would like for her to regain something of the financial stability she once had, by whatever means she finds.

WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL LIMITS ON SEXUAL WRITING? WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?
  • My limits are mostly water sports and excessive violence.
  • As to my style, I would call it erotica, as I'm more interested in what's happening in the scene than I am in describing how the genitalia fit together.

CROSS-GENDER WRITING:
  • Yes to all.
  • I enjoy playing characters of either gender. Also, the genders other writers choose to play and whether or not it is their own gender doesn't bother me.

  • Quite shy and introverted. It takes her quite a time to get along with people. She doesn't have many friends as in her youth she's been quite busy with her studies.
  • She only really trusts her friend Lisa, whom she's know since her early youth.

    • All through her youth she was a locked up girl. She was shy, and her wanting to practice on her violin all day long didn't help her become more outgoing.
    • Besides, she was not a very good-looking girl. She had a lot of pimples, had to wear braces for some time and glasses too.
    • She also had a small period of anorexia, which her friend Lisa saved her from.
  • Adulthood:
    • Her natural beauty appeared a little after her 18th birthday. Finally she was able to wear contact lenses and her skin got smoother.
    • When she had to choose a career she wanted to be a musician, but she was told, mostly by her mother, that that wasn't a good one. So after thinking about it for too long, she decided to enroll in pre-med. She still prefers music, but she's beginning to like the idea of becoming someone who can help people.
    • She's never had any real boyfriends, although she dated a couple of guys for some time. Now she is beginning a relationship with a new boy from college.

PROFESSION/EDUCATION:
  • Currently a student at City University (CU).
  • She studies pre-med.

    • I guess she might have a difficult relationship with her sister, them being so different. Maybe this relationship could change, or they could start getting along.
    • She'll want to try and make friend with "James Green".

  • I try to expand my limitation in sexual writing, but this particular character will be quite vanilla, at least at the beginning (people change :) ).
  • So given the right situations she could get quite wild.

    • She might be thinking about going back to school or finding a tutor so that she can get better jobs.

    • This is my SRP profile, you can find out about any details.
    • In this case I would almost try anything. I'm not that much into incest, but with this character I would even think about trying a cousin or step-father sex scene.
    • However, I won't do any bestiality, scat or violence (although slight slaps and smacks are not out of the question)

Okay, so FYI for all:
  • The main IC thread is moving into the next day. If you had something more to post for your characters for Day1 (Tuesday, Sept 18th, 2012), then post them as a flashback to maintain the feel of a time line.
  • There is still one ongoing Personal thread for our first day, Tuesday, involving Mark and Gerry sitting down over a bottle of cognac for guy talk. There will undoubtedly be some "insight" into the characters there, so I hope everyone is reading it, too. (I don't expect it to be a long thread, but I knew it needed to be written separately so that the main thread could move onward.
  • We still have some characters to fill, in case anyone is wanting to take on more than one character.
    • James Green is going to flee WitSec to move to Baxter Court. He will likely get involved with one or more of the young women on BC, but if someone wanted to create a "Cougar" who has an eye for him, I wouldn't object.
    • Gerry Baxter is new to town and needs a female collaborator. Contact the writer, deevo.
    • Mark Davis has an illegitimate child by a former student. He sees the boy at least once a week, sometimes sleeping wth the mother. It is a loving affair, but totally unknown to the others. I am looking for a female to write that. Ultimately, I want the relationship to be discovered by Mark's family, which includes the available character of his wife. (I reassigned the role to a Lit friend, who then decided not to write it, so it's available again.)
    • And there are more, but I am out of time, so I won't list them. If you've been reading the IC thread, you know what characters have been hinted at. Contact the writers who posted those replies and ask if they want a collaborator.
  • A piece of advice: if you do want to write more than one character, as often as you can try to get them to interact with a character being written by a writier you are NOT already working with. That way, if your FIRST collaborator takes a few days off -- or worse, disappears -- you still have the other writer to collaborate with.
  • If anyone DOES want to quit, I can understand that. I RPd a couple of years ago and got myself in so deep I was online for six or seven hours a day, forgetting my real life responsibilities. I quite cold turkey, without telling anyone, and I have been ashamed of it ever since. (Not Lit; another RP site.) So, if you need to leave, just let me or you collaborator know, so we know to either kill off your character or pass it off to another writer. I really appreciate that.
 
Character Solicitation:
I'm going to start using this format to solicit new characters, rather than burying the solicitation inside an OOC post with general comments in it. You are welcome to do the same:
  • Female Character needed:
    • Mark Davis has an illegitimate son he visits every week, as well as other times.
    • Occasionally, he still sleeps with the boy's other.
    • The mother (the character I need) was a student at CU but, once she realized she was pregnant, quit to raise her boy.
    • Mark set her up in a comfortable apartment with a $2000 a month allowance, but she wants more; she wants one of the houses on Baxter Court that Mark owns and rents out, as well as for Mark to acknowlege he has a son.
    • He is not willing to do that quite yet.
  • Female needed:
    • Mark wants to introduce a woman to Gerry Baxter.
    • Please contact Gerry's writer, deevo, to ask what kind of woman/ collaboration he wants. We can start a Personal Thread with Mark going to her, introducing her, then letting nature take its course.
  • It might be interesting if the two women above were the same woman. (I have not discussed this with deevo, fyi.)
    • Maybe Mark is with the mother of his child one day in public and is spotted by Gerry.
    • Mark must say she's just someone he knows; he can't say who she really is.
    • Then, Gerry meets and begins dating her, not realizing at first that the two men are neighbors.
    • Could create some real drama.

    • Being a cop, I would like to get him involved in one of a couple of scenarios:
    • Either he gets involved in James Green's flight from Witsec which -- since I also write James -- requires a WitSec Agent, preferably a female one who lusts for Robert).
    • Or a Baxter Court resident gets into trouble and tries to bribe her way out of it with sex. I can't say whether he would go for it or not, so expect either a sex scene or a trip to jail.

  • I will, however, resurrect him as a PC if the need arises.

Hey, very often when I write in the OOC, I will refer to you writers by their character's names. It's just easier to use the character's names than it is to use the writer's name ... less confusing. Hope you don't mind.

Three of us are playing leap frog with PMs, so I thought I would come here and lay out a plan instead.

So, status:
  • Abby and Anna are in the kitchen of the Davis house, having breakfast.
  • Joan and Mark are upstairs, sleeping.
So, I'm thinking that maybe this would work:
  • Abby is going to come upstairs to "talk" to her father. Lord only knows where that will go because I haven't preplanned anything between the two characters.
  • To make this work, we have to say that Joan has already gotten up, gotten dressed, and is passing Abby going down the stairs as Abby is going up the stairs. (Abby and Joan, if you PM one another you can plan out and post for their encounter on the stairs; or Abby, you can simply write a very brief interaction, trying not to "god mode" Joan too much. I am saying this because I don't know if Joan (Miss_Vivi) is online at the moment.)
  • So I'm thinking that Abby and Mark can take up their interaction in the "Davis Kitchen" personal thread, since they will be alone together.
  • If Joan and Anna's writers are both online, they can either start a personal thread and "chit chat" (like Abby and Anna were) or just post in the main thread.
  • This enables two conversations to be going on in two rooms in two threads without any of the writers having to wait for anyone but the one they are writing with.
Now, the other characters in the story who are not in the Davis household can post in the main thread, obviously.

I won't be back at my laptop for at least an hour, but I will have my tablet with me and if I am able to post for Mark, I will.

A quick note for all before I go off to slave away in the salt mines...

If you are in fact reading all of the Personal Threads, you will find yourself confused at times about where you are in the spider web of links. I apologize for that: I should have given better information about how the Personal Threads (PT), the Main Thread (MT), and the links between them work. Here is an example of the way they should be organized, as if Jack is the one doing the "link work" for a sex scene with Jill:
  • Jack and Jill are going to have sex in a PT, to make writing and reading easier for all.
  • Jack creates a PT called "Jack and Jill", putting a short explanation of what the PT is about in the very first post.
  • In the MT, Jack writes a post that will lead to the PT. Let's say, for example, that it is Post #69 in the MT. :D
  • At the bottom of that post, he puts a link to the PT, "Jack and Jill".
  • Then, Jack and Jill complete the PT at their leisure, knowing that they are not holding up any action in the MT -- which, of course, is the second reason for using PTs.
  • Then, when the couple are done with the scene, Jack puts a post at the bottom of the PT with a link BACK TO THE MAIN THREAD -- not to Post #69 in the MT -- and then says something like "To return exactly where you left the Main Thread, click this link and go to Post #69".
  • Why not just link the end of the PT directly to Post #69? Because if you do, clicking the link will take you to a "View Single Page" version of Post #69, NOT the Main Thread as a whole. The reader will STILL have to go to his/her Subscribed Threads, then to the Main Thread, then scroll to Post #69 to continue reading without missing a post.
  • Clear as mud...?
I know what you're asking yourself: Is this really worth it...? Why don't we just post EVERY reply in the MT?

We could, but with 6-10 writers playing 10-30 characters -- which is my goal -- sometimes there would be be 2 or 3 dozen unrelated posts in between two posts that were related.

Trust me, if we all do as I have explained above, this will work.

There is one more step you could take that would help, but it's not required: In the very first post of a PT, if you wrote "This Personal Thread begins here..." and made the "here" a link to the MT post that led to the PT, people could back track if they got lost or if -- like I did this morning -- they put a link to the wrong place in the last PT post.

Is Baxter Court dead? I think the main thread kind of stalled waiting on the rest of the morning to be played out, and I imagine part of that would lead into a couple personal threads I wouldn't be involved in. I'd post what I have in my head for Abby next, but it moves the timeline up about half the day which could throw the main thread timing off quite a bit.

Just figured I'd post OOC to see what was up and if people were still working on the rp/what some of my fellow residents were waiting for.

Also, if anyone has anything they would like to play out with Abby feel free to pm me so we can hash out some details and work towards the interaction :)
 
My next contribution to the Main Thread would be with Samantha in the night, so as you say, I am holding it down in case others wanted to post for the day.

So 1Guy4U might want to say something about that, but I guess in cases like that we could post a note here to check if others want to post before us. Because we could be waiting for other writers and they might not want to post for the rest of the morning :eek:

And Lillypen, we should PM each other about the relationship between our two girls so that we get it settled it as soon as possible, what do you think?
