I'm rather fond of his misanthropic characteristics and how raw his writing is. I'll admit I haven't read his novels, just his poetry. But I guess to be fair I have also had my share of alcoholic, womanizing bad boys 
Google his poem "Yes Yes". It's probably one of my favourites.
