Danny had always loved the tale of Aster, the most powerful plant bender ever. It was his favorite as a child, even though it was a sad one, more for scaring children to behave than an actually story. His mom read it from the Book of Children Tales. It went as follows.

Aster was a naturally gifted plant bender. He exceeded in school, and quickly became a master. He married a wonderful woman, was wealthy, and couldn't be happier. But, he always wanted more power. He went all over the world, begging the greatest masters to teach him. He soon became the most powerful plant bender of his time. Nobody had been greater than him. But it wasnt enough. He wanted to always be the greatest. So, he searched for the Book of Bending. Each chapter in the Book held a detailed description for mastering a bending. After many years, Aster found the Book. But, he had to pay a price. In return for the knowledge, he had to give up his soul. He did so without question. As the power flowed through him, he tested it. He raised his hand, and immediately a forest grew around him. He laughed, using hs powers more. But, once he reached the full extent of his abilities, something happened. His soul was replaced with the power. He was consumed, and disappeared for several years. Once he awoke, he only had one objective. To exterminate any threats to nature, and to create a perfect world with pure harmony between nature and creatures. Anybody who opposed him was consumed by his power, and became his mind slave.
After many years of torment, a group of bending masters joined together and faced Aster. Together, they posed a threat. They couldn't beat Aster, but they imprisoned him beneath the earth, entrapping him for several centuries. No sign of him has been seen since.
Danny always begged his mom to read him the story before bed, and he had dreams about Aster before he was consumed.
But, that was years ago. Now, at age 17, Danny didn't love the legend anymore. He still liked it, but didn't beg for it. He now had more important things in his life, such as mastering his earth bending.

Everyone had known the story of Aster it was almost like a rule among the kids, at least to Lisa she thought everyone knew about him. It was amazing how such a story could be read to kids, either before bed or while the other kids just talked about it. It was kinda a story that had a strong message to it, let a power consume you and you could end up becoming a negative being. Her mother was more of a wild kind of woman, her imagination use to get her in trouble as a child. But when her mother Rose met her father Matthew she kept her imagination to herself and her daughter.

Lisa felt that the story was perhaps true because she knew that some things could not be explained, and right now she honestly didn't mind letting her imagination run free. Now at the age of eighteen Lisa Connor use to beg for the story to be told, and like so many other children. She grew up to just read about the story herself, and not beg her mother for it. Course Lisa had changed a lot as well, since her father had been killed out in the woods. A hunting accident people in the village said.

But she never really believed what they said, now all she had left was her mother. And being the only fire bender around, she held a high responsibility to learn how to bend and she dreamed of being one of the best. However she did not crave power like Aster did, she wanted to be one of the best yes. But she wanted to be naturally gifted, her father said she had a natural talent for fire bending. That most people could not bend fire because most people got burned, but not Lisa she was certainly something special.

Danny woke up one day, and he had a feeling that today would be important. He always got a little felling on a day that would be important, it ranthrough the family. He jumped out of bed and dressed. He walked into the kitchen, grabbed a apple, and walked out the door. "I'm going to class Mom!" he hollered before he completely left the house. He walked into the town square, and saw he wasn't the only one up. Mainly farmers were p and about, but Danny saw the occasional child and some merchants. He walked per to the school, and waited by the entrance. At school, the only thing they taught was history, and only during the first year did they teach bending, then they expected you to practice it and develop it. Danny practiced earth bending every day a free school for hours, and he was one of the best in the town. He quietly ate his apple, and threw the core on the ground. He took out arock from his pocket and began moving it with his mind, up and down, up and down.

Lisa went around once she got everything in order at home, she went outside to head over to school. It took her forever to get her mother to let her open up and let her go to the school in town, her mother could suffocate her once in a while but she meant well. So she walked over to school and did her history class that she had, when that was over she went out and noticed a kid moving a rock up and down with his mind. She smiled a bit as she tilted her head to the side and sighed a little bit.

"Cool" She said and didn't have any friends and it appeared to her that he was a bender. So she had only seen one kind of bending and it was fire. She found this boy rather interesting, she knew his name was Danny but they never spoke. She was always way to shy about everything, and right now she was just as shy.

He faintly smiled as a girl, whom he knew was Lisa, called his bending cool. "Hey. What bending are you?" he asked. He had seen three bending in his life, and he had always wanted o see others. He had only seen earth from himself, water from his mom, and fire from is dad. He wanted to see plant, honey, wind, dirt, metal, lightning, and so many others, his list could go on forever. this girl had sme sort of aura surrounding her that intrigued Danny.

She walked over to him and smiled at him "I'm fire" She was always careful about what she did bending wise, she was a kind girl that didn't want to hurt people, or nature. There world was fragile as it was, wars breaking out all over over time. History told her that, she would protect who and what she could. So she smiled at him and looked at him "Ive not really see any other bending, I take it you are earth? My mother I think is a wind bender but she doesn't use her powers, so really ive only seen fire and now earth bending"

He gasped. "Your mom is a wind bender! Lucky! I've always wanted to see wind benders bending. My dad is a fire bender and my mom a water bender. I you want,I could ask me dad to teach you some bending techniques, he's quite good." Right at that moment the school bell rang and they had to go to class. Since they were in the same group, for the rest of the day they would be seeing each other. Danny walked to class with Lisa, and once they sat down, the teacher told them what would be taught today. "Today you shall be taught legends to understand the past using clues weaves through the legends. Any in particular class?" he asked.

She smiled happily at him "I would like that if he would be willing to teach me" She said happily. And looking at him as they took off for class, sitting down she heard the question and shrugged her shoulders. She always loved to know new things and this was one of those things, taking a deep breath she sighed a bit silently. Grinning she didn't know exactly how today would go, but she was so willing to do anything. Looking over at Danny she smiled and was happy that perhaps she was starting to make a friend.

Danny raised his hand after a couple of minutes of silence. The teacher chose him, and he spoke. "Can we study the legend of Aster?" he asked. The teacher gasped, and went silent. Danny knew hat legend was not often spoke about in class, and some classes banned it ever being mentioned. Their teacher was nicer. "Very well." he replied. "All of you, turn to page 645 in your textbooks." he commanded. Danny turned to that page, and the chater was titled 'The Book Of Bending'. Danny saw a picture of it, and gasped. It was a large book, encased with letter, and there were pockets in the book cover to hold what appeared to be jewels, but there were no jewels.

She heard the gasping frankly she never understood why it was a banned subject, she knew the legend like most of everyone. Sitting back as she opened up her book, and quickly scanned the book to what it said. Looking up she realized that there teacher was rather nice, willing to do anything for his kids within reason of course. Looking over at Danny she could see the excitement in his eyes, least she thought that's what it was. She didn't know him well enough to come up with that conclusion really.

The teacher began speaking. "Niw, we all know the legend of Aster." he started off. All the students nodded. "Well, for starters, it's only a legend. There never was an Aster, he never became consumed by power, Aster does not exist. But, the Book Of Bending does. Now, people say that when Aster used the Book Of Bending, and they saw how horrible the outcome was, the Book was hidden, and nobody has been ale to find it. Now, this is partly truthful. The book has been hidden, but not because of the reasons stated. Most likely, a bender tried to conquer the world, and the I'd the Book from them." he explained. Danny was doubtful what he said was true, he believed Aster existed, and several of the students did as well. They all shouted tints like"That's not true!" or "Can you prove he doesn't exist!". Danny stayed quiet, but in his head he was shouting as well.

She looked over at Danny, she had to smile over at him. She knew he took this seriously and finding out that it was just a story. She could see it truly upset him, she knew it was just a story least she thought it was just a story. She took a deep breath and sighed a bit silently, but she heard what the other kids were saying. They believed in the story just as much as Danny, had she been the only one who didn't really think he was real? When they wanted proof that he never existed she looked up and said.

"Can you prove he did exist?" She said looking at the kids, not at Danny since he hadn't been the one to say anything. This was why she had no friends, because some of the things that came out of her mouth were something that kids did not like. She had a feeling there would be a down side to this for what she had just said, but she wasn't going to stay quite. Since that never really helped any way.

This pissed off some of the kids. "There just some things in life that don't need proving!" they replied. they all sat back down, and Danny had a feeling that there were not going to be too friendly with Lisa today. The class droned on slowly, and Danny eventually dozed off.

Deep below the Earth, a man was lumbering. Then, he heard the shouts of children, calling his name. He slowly awoke, his eyes glowing green. I am wanted back on the surface. he said, speaking to all the plants he had grown near him. "If I am wanted, than I shall come!" he grinned. He raised his ams, and plants sprouted ou todthe ground, breaking through the Earth, allowing the man to be free.

She rolled her eyes at the kids and really didn't give a damn what they would be saying, she just didn't like the other kids so really she didn't care what they thought. Sighing a bit she just cared what Danny thought, after a while when she looked up at Danny he appeared to have fallen asleep. But as she watched him sleep, she felt a peacefulness come over her. She didn't know what it was, the kids didn't like her. But he never spoke out nasty to her and wondered why, something about him was much different.

But soon class came to an end and she sighed a bit, seeing the kids not to happy with her she just rolled her eyes. "Oh grow up!" She yelled and grumbled. There life must be so damn easy to be able to worry about some story, she knew what the grim reality was. Her father was dead and all she had was her mother.

Was class was over, Danny awoke quickly, realizing he slept for alf the class. He stood up, rubbing his eyes, and left the building. He saw Lisa walking, all the kids jeering at her. He walked over to her, and began talking. "Hey, wanna come to my place today? I could ask my dad to begin teaching you this afternoon.he doesn't really care about last minute ideas." he proposed. Something about Lisa struck Danny, he just couldn't understand what. It was probably her lack in believing the old legends, but whenever Danny was with Lisa, he felt... alive. It was odd, for the had oly begun talking today, but Danny couldn't ingnore the feeling.

She just ignored the idiots that were giving her glares but then she heard someone running, turning her head she smiled seeing it was Danny. The way he looked at her she knew that he maybe the only chance for a friend she had. When he invited her over she smiled at him and she nodded to him, she was rather eager and she smiled a bit more. "Sounds fun as long as your sure about your dad, then again he is your father so" He would know him best, walking outside she looked up at the son and enjoyed the warmth.

Danny was happy that Lisa was going to come over. He walked with her to his house; it wasn't too far from the school. They arrived there shortly, and Danny opened the door for them to enter. "Mom, I have friend over!" he shouted to her. he turned back to Lisa. "Make yourself comfortable while a get my dad." he told her, before running off in the Ouse. He went into the hallway and entered his dads study, and sure enough there he was. "Dad, I have a friend over, and she can fire bend..." before he could finish his dad interrupted. "A fire bender eh! Well, I should teach her! Why didn't you tinker that Danny!?!?" he exclaimed. He ran out of the study and into the kitchen to where Lisa was sitting.

She smiled at Danny he was really sweet and like a little kid, though he wasn't so little. Looking up to his mother she smiled at her. Bowing her head in thanks as she sat down and was given a glass of ice tea, she drank it gratefully. She knew her mother wouldn't be worried about her since she never came straight home from school. She heard muffles in the back of the house figuring it was Danny talking to his father. She heard heavy foot steps which meant she could tell an older man was coming out, she looked over. And offered him a smile.

Danny saw his mother standing next to Lisa. He walked overdo her and whispered to her. "Mom, Dad is going to help he reith some bending, I think we should leave them for a bit." She agreed with him and they walked out of the kitchen. Danny's dad talked to Lisa. "Let's begin with introductions." he began. "You can call me Mr. Davis. What is you name young girl?" he asked.

She smiled up at him and he seemed rather kind, he reminded her of her own father who she missed very much. When he asked for her name she gave another smile "Lisa Connor. But Lisa will do just fine Mr. Davis. I was surprised when Danny told me you fire bend since no one in my family that I know of is a fire bender but me" She said with a happy grin on her face, she didn't know much about her family.

Mr. Davis smiled. "Well, fire bending is a rare bending. Not many people have it. Now,mic you would be kind enough to follow me, I shall show you where I shall teach you." He stood up form his seat and walked slowly out the door with Lisa following him. Danny was in his room, studying for school. He finished quickly and ran outside to practice bending.

She heard it was a rare bending ability but didn't know why she nodded to him and followed him. "Wonder why it's rare? I know there is a stigma about fire benders, because our power can be very destructive" She said kindly as she sighed a bit, but she would never wish to hurt anyone or anything. Unless it was self protection and even then she wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

Mr. Davis spoke to her quietly for a moment. "It is rare because many years ago, fire benders were killed in the hopes of fire bending to be killed off. But, the attempt was stopped, but ever since fire benders have been the minority." he explained. He reached a clearing that was surrounded by water. "We shall practice here. No plants grow here, nothing lives nearby, and the ground is soaked with water. We shall destroy nothing." he her.

She listened to him as he explained to her about fire bending she sighed a bit "That's a shame because not everyone who bends fire wish to do harm, me I would defend myself but would never cause trouble. I remember when I was five I accidentally burned my mom's hand and I didn't use my bending abilities for a whole year I was so ashamed. So the thought of me causing problems because I want to? Makes me sick to my stomach" When he told her that this is where they would practice she nodded and smiled.

He smiled. "Fire is a destructive element. In the wrong hands and much harm can be caused. That is why I am teaching you, so you can control the fire better." he explained. He squatted on the ground, and motioned for he rot do likewise. "We are going to breath, and using th air we shall produce fire. Use your breath, not your muscle. With your breath, the fire shall be easier to control." he explained. He demonstrated. He breathed in, and than fire came out of his hands, and he breathed out and the fire stopped immediately. "Now you try."

Aster broke through the Earth, seeing the sky after entries of imprisonment. The only human life he saw was border patrol. "Hey, you! Yu can't enter here unless on business!" they shouted. Aster sighed, and raised his hands. Immediately the men were grabbed by roots from the ground, and they couldn't move. He walked towards them, and placed his hands on their heads. "Slave, I can do whatever I want." he said. Than, his hands glowed green, and the green spread all over their bodies, and the last free thing they did was shout. "Were being attacked! Warn the village!" they shouted, but then they were silent, and their eyes were green.
