If he believes this than my vote (not likely in the first place) is definitely lost.

"I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms. But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of our soldiers, not on the streets of our cities." Barrack Obama

"A lot of gun owners? My ass!

Well, President Obama it is a VERY slippery slope when you start messing with Americas weapons.

When in the states, I enjoy legally owning and firing my assault weapons at the proper facility to do so.

Here is to getting this President the hell out of the White House this November!

Now a DECIDED Romney voter.

I said "when in the states."

It's illegal to have firearms in the PRC. A tremendous loss of a freedom I take for granted when back home.

China's government sucks. It's one of the few countries that I would consider beautiful. I'd visit, but I would probably be arrested after spray painting on a statue of the Demon King.

And I will (now) go through the annoyance of requesting an absentee ballot...

I wonder if he loses more votes then he wins with that statement.

Well, there is no question about mine now.

I was truly committed to sitting on the sidelines before because it is annoying to get the ballot. However, my place of residence in the US is New Hampshire. So, maybe I will actually have an impact.

Of course, I have empathy for the victims and their families of any violent crime.

I just feel weapon ownership is so fundamental to who we, as Americans, really are. OK, I'll draw the line if said weapon needs to be towed by trailer.

Hmm.. Just wondering if that same statement will rally the anti-gun crowd. It will be interesting to see if this pushes people one way or the other.

I am sure that there are people with more passion than I on BOTH sides of the issue.

I always took right to bear arms to be about militia. I feel the National guard is exactly that.

I have no issue with citizens having firearms for hunting and handguns for personal protection.

I do not think anybody needs an assault rifle. I don't care if you enjoy shooting it at the range or not. Grenades can be fun but you should not get those either? Common sense has to be applied.

Where in the second amendment does it quantify what type of arms, Mr President?

If I honestly thought Obama could do, anything, about gun laws, Id have a stance on it, but I think talking about it, is just political song and dance.

And just what is an "assault rifle?" According to Diane Fineswine, it is an ugly rifle with a black plastic stock.

Well, I can tell right now that no AK-47 belongs in your hands, ever.

What presumption. Who the fuck are you? I've owned such weapons for years as a law abiding citizen with little more than the odd parking ticket on my resume.

You can't possibily tell anything about me as an individual simply because I oppose the President's suggestion that assault weapons be limited, restricted or otherwise banned.

I've always considered your posts as offering a point-of-view that at least deserved consideration.

However, when you attack me (as in your above quote) for no tangible reason you come across as being, in fact, an extremely narrow individual.

The militia exists apart from the national guard. The militia is every man tween the ages of 18 and 45. The national guard is the organized militia or active duty militia. Two different animals.

American soldiers don't use AK's you commie bastard.
He didn't say "our soldiers" he said "of soldiers".
His quote, not mine.
Check your source..
The actual quote:

"I, like most Americans, believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms," Obama told the National Urban League convention in New Orleans. "I think we recognize the traditions of gun ownership that passed on from generation to generation. That hunting and shooting are part of a cherished national heritage."

Obama continued: "But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals. That they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities. I believe the majority of gun owners would agree we should do everything possible to prevent criminals and fugitives from purchasing weapons, and we should check someone's criminal record before they can check out a gun seller."

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the statement. As far as I'm concerned, the 2nd ensures your right to keep and bear arms, but there is nothing wrong with limiting access to military grade hardware.

Words of iron, walls of lead.
