She was one a priestess... Long ago in the deserts of the Old Kingdoms times in Egypt. No one knew where she came from but she could not only hear the Gods and Goddesses she could see them and when in her presence there were a scattered few who could as well. The Priests and Priestesses that raised her and watched her carefully noted that from from the day she was found in the Desert alone with no signs of any others having ever been around her she was the daughter of the Gods and Goddesses themselves.

When she was 20 war came to her land and her people. At first the temples were safe but then as war will do the soldiers became mad and would raid the temples. She by this time had become close with a young Commander. He had done all he could to keep the men in his command away from any sign of her temple home. And for a while that was possible until one of his men followed him to see where he would slip away to late in the night. Finding the young priestess and his commander he was sure the witch had put a spell on his commander so he took command and led the rest of the soldiers that very night to destroy the temple and slaughter all within. The last thing she saw where the eyes of her lover as he held her as she died.

Now centuries later those eyes haunt the dreams and nightmares of a young woman also found as an orphan in the deserts of Egypt who now works with all Egyptian Exhibits in the US.

She had drawn those eyes a thousand times and now here walking into her office this man with those same eyes and an Ankh around his neck stood before her.

Umm... She watched him for a moment as he watched her as well waiting for an answer to his introduction.

Are you alright Maam?

Oh Uh yes...Sorry I tend to zone everything out when situations get like this. Now what were you saying?

He introduced himself again as the commander of the small contingent of soldiers she and the Egyptian Antiquities dept had petitioned the US Government for with the new arrival of artifacts and the national tour of Old Kingdom artifacts and mummies.

She had no idea why but those eyes seemed to be a strange comfort and a great fear... but why.

In another room still packed away in a box was the sacred stone from the Priestess headdress softly glowing feeling the souls it protected now together again. Drawing the attention of a stray stowaway night black cat who curled up by the box purring contentedly as it listened to the soft voice of the stone.

He was walking along the exhibit making sure everything was in order and then came across the desk of the woman in charge. When she looked at him he felt a strange sense of familiarity he couldn't shake. Like that of an old friend but he had never met the woman before.
When asked who he was he explained he commanded the troops that were posted to guard the exhibit and they travelled with the exhibit as well.
He had been reading up on not only the exhibit but also a lot about Egyptian artefacts and was able to hold her conversation about the pieces quite well.
"Would you care to continue this lovely discussion we're having over coffee or a drink as it seems the museum is closing for the night." He offered seeing her positive reactions to thier talk.

She gestured to the break room.

I have far too much work to do to leave here tonight in fact I will not be requiring the hotel room at least tonight that our employer has arranged so whatever guards he had you put there will have the night off.

His eyes those eyes she had drawn for years now stared at her but it was just a dream... the eyes not the man before her. The Museum curator she worked with in Cairo had told her that security was going to be assigned to the exhibit and to her on this US tour. Not something she had been looking forward too till now.

"Well as you well know your security detail has been provided and while the gesture of the night off is welcomed, we cannot indulge. In fact I am going to be your personal escort around the museum. The people in Egypt feel that there may be trouble at this exhibit for some reason and myself and my team are here to make sure it doesn't happen. But the break room will do for now."
He followed her through and offered to make her coffee. How do you take it?

Black coffee

She sighed. The old man worries too much. While yes this find is like nothing we have ever found and may very well rewrite some of the history books. The tomb that was found is of a priestess buried with the shields weapons and armor of an enemy soldier... The temple was clearly trashed long before the desert sands reclaimed it. There are so many questions about this but they think I can solve it... run this touring exhibit and deal with bodyguards getting bossy as well as interviews and all that its not going to be easy.

He made her a nice black coffee, fresh from the new Kureig machine. He handed it to her.
"A soldiers armor and weapons in a priestess tomb? How interesting. " He smiled at her. "So they think you're the one to crack it? You'll figure it out." He offered as encouragement.
He took a sip from his coffee. There was something familiar about her and he couldn't figure it out. "Umm, usually i don't sound this umm...vague, but I get this feeling that we've met before. I don't remember you. I would for sure not forget your face. But there's this....."he shook his head with frustration."Feeling. I must sound crazy."

No... not at all

Her defenses shot up around her as she was now not the only one feeling some strange connection.

Not only the soldiers items but those of an enemy possibly an enemy general or some other ranking officer at least. You are a soldier what sense can you make of that... not to mention when the excavators tried to rearrange the temple the way it appeared to look it feels all wrong to me but I don't know why

"Hmmm...as a soldier and what i know about artifacts, it's very uncommon. A priestess would be buried with more ornate things, for example chalices and offerings to the gods. As a enemy soldier, a general no less, being placed in her tomb, I can honestly say I don't know. What sort of evidence was it when they first found the site? You said it was looted, but could it be that the looters took the proof of the official burial site and left the soldiers stuff." He shrugged with his idea and drank his coffee.

No not looted the temple was possibly destroyed by battle knocked over. Nothing was looted. The weapons armor and shield were placed almost protectively.

She band d him the photos that were sent to her.

Its the most intact find I have ever seen.

He looked at the photos. Then he frowned.
"Are you familiar with the legend of the General that had an affair with the priestess? I read about stories of such a thing but I never thought I would ever see it. The shield on the photo is the key. It's the design of Commander Tukah. Do you know the story?"

The priestess was found as an orphan child in the desert... but the stories at least of the general were never founded... there was an enemy nation though small that Egypt wiped from the world but they were nothing like Tukah...

She fount on that... since the little nation was wiped out beyond carvings o the battles that wiped them from the earth... she thought long on this falling deeper into before own mind for a time.

"That's true. So what are your big work plans for the rest of the evening? I'll be along your side so I thought I'd just ask."

She was deep in thought mumbling

Maybe Tukah was the name of the people or a name go end to them as just to tell the story without speaking.g their real names as to further erase them from the world.

Hearing him talk to her she glanced over...

What... I will be trying to make sense of the temple first I think tonight.

Well, I'll try and keep myself at arm's length and at a distance for letting you work. Look forward to reading about what you learn about the temple and seeing your work."
He started thinking about the feeling he kept feeling. It wasn't going away. She was almost pulling him close to her. He was resisting with everything he had. She was almost intoxicating. He finished his coffee and left behind her leaving her room to work.

She scurried around half the night moving between the room the temple replica was set upand the tomb replica as well as pouring over tons of paperwork. The motion sensors in one of the storage rooms went off and one of the other guards carried in the culprit. A solid black cat hissing and clawing in a futile attempt to get aey from being carried by the scruff.

Found it stuck half out of a shipping crate.

He walked around to find a black cat that was setting off the motion sensors.
He held the cat and gazed into it's eyes and felt strange when they locked eyes. He watched her work diligently and hard. During the low times, he read the tablets on each display with the diligence of his combat training. Absorbing every detail. Learning everything he could about everything.

The other guard clearly had not realized the cat ha gotten away from him carrying it by the scruff to his commander and the curator of the exhibit

She smiled a little... trying to climb out... a stowaway perhaps. If that is the case you are a long way from home little one guess you have to stay with us now. Looking back to the guard that found the cat and carried it to them saying...

Have the motion sensors set a little higher so our little friend here does not keep setting them off.

The guard nodded silently and followed orders. He pulled out a small tablet device and logged into the security system. He pulled up the sensors and recalibrated them so that cats or other small creatures wouldn't set it off. The setting wouldn't be too high but people would still set it off. He had to make some minor adjustments but it wasn't too big of an issue and then issued a memo to the team notifying them of the change.

He wondered how the heck a cat was able to stow away from the freight and onto a plane and not get sick...interesting. Soldiers have experimented with high altitude exposure before but it always failed. They could never get to the height of a plane without needing oxygen.

The Commander walked around and kept examining each piece on his rounds. Had to the mind busy. His ears were far more attuned in the darkness than his eyes.

Walking around the temple area she had her people move some things around in the way that to her they "felt" they were supposed to be and take a picture of it then send word back to Cairo of the changes she had made and the pictures. Without conscious thought she had sat down in temple replica right where the priestess had breathed her last in the arms of her enemy lover.

The temple once they rearranged everything felt more comfortable more relaxing and almost home like. She paid no thought to that feeling as Egypt was her home. She made a few notes and returned to the little makeshift office she was given to tend to her research.

The commander continued his rounds and stopped at the temple. He walked into it and couldn't understand why but touched the shield and started to slip into a strange dream....

There was fighting everywhere and the priestess was dead and lying before him like he was there. There was blood everywhere and then he raised his shield in a defiant gesture towards his enemies as if to say "you may kill me but I will protect her and this temple forever!" and slammed his shield down just before getting overrun by enemy forces...

He snapped back when the black cat showed up and bumpbed his hand off the shield almost trying to break the connection and then the cat hissed a little as if he did something he wasn't supposed to.

The commander was filled with a large sense of vivid imagery and familiarity and confusion. He remained in the temple for a while...long enough for another guard to walk by and notice him out of place and ask him what he was doing.
"Oh.."The commander startled answered."this cat again." He pointed out the cat.

She sat there sinking into another almost dream like thoughts though it turned more nightmare. The priestess... or was it her... They were there in the temple... The soldier ran in and over to her. no sooner than his arms slipped around her and they kissed it was like time in her mind jumped... They were ripped apart other soldiers talking yelling suddenly she felt cold... weak her eyes locked on his seeing the pain the anger so many emotions flooding those eyes but the love as well she could only see his eyes though.

Quickly ripped from her "nightmare" by one of her people asking if she was alright as she was holding her stomach sitting on the floor. She nodded yes and quickly stood up moving about the temple reproduction and then turned seeing him standing there with the cat the shield sitting there in the doorway that linked what would be the "tomb" reproduction and the temple reproduction. She bit her lip and quickly hurried back to her office she would not sleep tonight she knew that all too well but she knew they were under orders to make her take care of herself with such things as eating and sleep.

The Commander walked into her office at the end of the shift and brought something to her attention.
"You do realize that you must relax and rest at some point ma'am. We're under orders to ensure just that. You are almost as important as the exhibit." He smiled at her.
"Time to close up and rest up. There will be time for more analysis later."

Very well but I will be back here at 6 am sharp to restart my work.

Standing she picked up an arm load of stuff to work on at the hotel. Glancing around the office then doin one more walk through herself she sighed and turnec to him.

Lets go.

He escorted her out of the museum and the cat walked on by. Paused and looked at the two of them. It purred and moved on with a sense of pleasure.

He got her to the door of her room as he was assigned to her and didn't plan to fail the mission. He was very regimented about it.
