Still, there are glimmers of hope. Increasingly, his libertarian mix of social tolerance and fiscal conservatism appears to mirror the sensibilities of many independents. “Libertarianism has been touted as the wave of America’s political future for many years, generally with more enthusiasm than evidence,” New York Times blogger Nate Silver wrote in June. “But ... Americans’ attitudes are in fact moving in that direction.” A CNN-Gallup poll in June showed a recent spike in those who aligned with a general libertarian viewpoint (i.e., government is too big). Support for gay marriage is increasing. And when it comes to marijuana legalization, Johnson’s old Achilles’ heel, public support has jumped from 30 percent in 2001 to nearly 50 percent in a 2011 Pew Research Center poll.

Yeah, NOW, this guy's gonna catch fire...

;) ;)

Gary Johnson will quit the Republican primaries and seek the Libertarian Party nomination instead, POLITICO has learned.

The former two-term New Mexico governor, whose campaign for the GOP nomination never caught fire, will make the announcement at a news conference in Santa Fe on Dec. 28. Johnson state directors will be informed of his plans on a campaign conference call Tuesday night, a Johnson campaign source told POLITICO

Yeh, well, I wish I could be bullish on marijuana legalization, but if a decrim referendum still can't pass in California of all states, where can it pass?!
I would hope that when it comes up, he'd say "That's up to Congress, not me, but if they pass it I'd sign it."

A vote for the third party, is your way of voting for Oblamer.

I read an op-ed piece from that guy where he calls for abolishing any age restrictions on alcohol purchase and consumption. That is ANY age restrictions. He honestly thinks it should be legal for a ten year old to ride his bike down to the corner liquor store and buy a bottle of 90 proof vodka.

On the flip side, at least he wouldn't require Johnny to put on a bicycle helmet before he rides over to get his hootch.

Well if at first you don't succeed, fuck it! Amirite?

Christ in a bucket you're lame even for an invert.

and that attitude, I'm sorry....fear, is the only reason why. You and everyone else who is just too fucking scared to think much less support anything outside the DNC vs. GOP prison cell the media has built around your mind.

Wasn't sure how to vote this time (or if to vote, being an anarchist now), but since Romney is no more likely than Obama to curb Big Brother, Gary Johnson seems the best choice out there.

Switching my vote from undecided to Libertarian. Johnson 2012! That's assuming that Ron Paul doesn't get the nod, which is virtually certain now.

I'll be goddammed. A convert. In all my years of posting here, I've never seen that happen.

Well, I voted for Barr in 2008 and I'm really an anarchist. I just didn't know if there was a point to voting at all this year. Romney doesn't appeal to me and I fear what Obama will do to my freedoms, too. It didn't look good, what with Paul fading fast.

I'll grudgingly accept the reality of the State for now. That being so, who better than Johnson, who wants the least amount of government of all?
