For many centuries, Avalon has been the center of the magickal world. Originally just an island haven for faeries, it has evolved over the years into a busting metropolis for all Magi. Today, the city encompasses not only the original island, but the three other islands in the immediate area. They are connected by bridges and the skyline looks very similar to that of New York or Tokyo, but with the addition of flying airships and various magickal beings zipping here and there.

There are cars and motorcyles on the streets, and all the modern conveniences of the outside world, but magick is still abundant everywhere, from the alchemy shops in the market districts to the colorful gardens and parks managed by faeries. While the city evolved with the times, the presence of magick has never been stronger.

The city sits off the east coast of Florida, heavily cloaked in barriers and enchantments. The area is commonly referred to as the Bermuda Triangle by the Unmagi, because anyone who draws near will become confused and disoriented, unless they have magick in their blood. Then, their inner Magi will show them the way.

Faeries (pixies, sprites, goblins, brownies, boggarts, etc.), elves, dwarves, orcs, wizards, witches, shaman, druids, etc. all know about Avalon. Some make it their home while others travel there on business. Why are you in Avalon?

I will probably play a young druid who is currently studying to become an alchemist at Avalon University. As part of a work/study program, he helps out Verda Vousien, a very old sprite who manages Celestial Gardens, a huge park where all kinds of plants and flowers grow. Many alchemists in the city come there for their ingredients. There are dozens of sprites flying all over the park to help the plants grow and assist any visitors/customers, but Verda is the oldest and she manages them all.

As for currency, we'll just say they use multicolored bills called Avalon Dollars, but most people use the shortened term Avalars to refer to money.

It would be awkward without females, but I am game. It is a bloody good idea.

I have a small group I lead on another site. I will mention it to them tonight.

I'm more than happy to join. I'll be playing a female role.

And I was just thinking... that as long as there are faerie folk, you could always have daemon

I told my group about it also. I will think about a character and post something tonight.

I do not have an image yet, but I am leaning to a dwarf, but one who is handsome, like Thorin in the new Hobbit movie. What format did you want for characters? I can write up a character today.

You can use whatever format. There is no set character sheet. And demons and whatever else are fine. This rp is about having fun and of course, sex, haha. As for an overarching story, we could have some sort of magical criminal organization, demon terrorists, or some force that tries to take over the city. Just some ideas.

Name: Kiera Blackwood

Age: 27

Appearance: Kiera is of average height, but her body is lithe and unusually muscled. Her face is open and honest, the kind of face you can trust instinctively, though her eyes are harder than her face would suggest. She has fair hair, that she wears long, her only vice, though she usually ties it into a pony tail.

http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u467/literoticapics/BATW/blackwood.jpg

Race: Viré - Though in most respects human, Kiera is probably one of the few non-magical creatures on Avalon, and by non-magical, it is completely. Kiera is so non-magical as to be a blank in the weave of the world. Her being is so comprehensively devoid of magic that she merely absorbs and compensates for that directed at her. She is immune to magic, unfortunately, this also extends to healing magic, but only a very powerful, or very clever mage could use magic on a Viré.

Though no one knows the true events of how they came about it is believed that an ancient race, long since lost in time, bred those humans who exhibited an unusual resistance to magic in order to create guardians and wardens for their vaults and places of worship. Though their creators are long since vanished, the Viré live on. Often shunned for their nature, they tend to gravitate towards jobs in the police or as private bodyguards, honouring some long ingrained instinct to protect and serve.

Occupation: Police/Sentinels/Wardens (whatever the equivalent is on Avalon)

Background: Keira did not grow up on Avalon, she was raised by her father, a cop, in New York. He doted on her, bringing her up with a good education and strong sense of morals, even if she lacked in the materialistic side of life. But she was happy with her life, achieving good grade in school and earning a place at University.

Unfortunately, the life of a beat cop was not a safe one, and the bravery of Martin Blackwood is the thing Kiera has cursed since that fateful day. The man hadn't even blinked as he'd gunned the officer down. Martin lived just long enough to tell his daughter the truth of her parentage, who her mother really was, how they'd met, fallen in love, but been forced to part. How he'd kept her true heritage from her all this time. Martin Blackwood was human, but his lover, Kiera's mother had been a Viré, a creature from the world that hides just beneath our own, and who Kiera had grown to resemble in every way.

Though he died that day, her father had opened a new door for Kiera, a door from which, once stepped through, there was no turning back. She quit University, joining the police, a job in which she proved to be exceptionally, and single mindedly dedicated. She was even invited to join the NYPD SWAT, but she realised the time was right. She didn't want the ordinary world anymore, she wanted to explore the world of magic, starting with Avalon.

Is that ok? It's been partially inspired by a caste in series of books I read a while ago and mixed in with aspects of other books into the bargain :)

I am interested in a male role if we can get a few more players (especially female ones), though I need to think about the particulars of my character.

I am going to write up my character tonight. I hope we get some females also. Did you try advertising in existing threads?

SHE IS HOT!!!!!!

Calwell

Name: Calwell MacDuddle of the Clan MacDuddle

Age: 147

Appearance: Calwell, at four and a half feet, is rather tall for a dwarf. He, like his brothers, has a stocky, muscular build, though he in not a warrior by profession. He has ruddy skin, a Roman nose and blue eyes. His long hair and beard are salt and pepper. He wears the robes of a scholar. A male dwarves carry an axe, symbolizing his ties to his clan. In fact, he carries small, twin axes no larger than tomahawks, which he wields together with great effectiveness. Many dwarvew have taken to carrying these little axes, in this modern world.

Background:

Calwell is professor of the Dwarven Arts at the university. He has advanced degrees in Dwarven Literature, Dwarven History and Dwarven Heritage. He is tenured, with an office full of books and a head full of wisdom.

He was the son of a carriage mechanic, and grew up learning how to repair magical carriages. His father and mother were very blue collar and very proud of it. Still, they had a strong sense of dwarven pride. When Calwell proved to be strangely intelligent, they acted.

At the very tender age of twenty six, Calwell was apprenticed to a Dwarven Lore Keeper. That lore keeper taught him all the ancient lays and rituals. He also encouraged Calwell to attend university. He said that the ancient ways had to intersect with the new, and that no one would respect him without a wee bit of paper, saying that he knew something.

For over a hundred years now, Calwell has been head of the Dwarven Studies department. He loves his work and his clan. He reaches out to non-dwarves and dwarves alike, with the wisdom of the ancient ones.

Name: Layla Lagaan

Age: 124, but has the physical features of a 22 year old. (The Faerie Folk and Daemon kin were known for their longevity and while most powerful faerie were immortal, most daemon were not)

Background: Layla was born into a rather powerful bloodline said to trace back to the Morningstar during Biblical days. However, as a youngster, she exhibited a gift for healing and nurturing. Her sweet voice and vulnerable self-giving were traits more commonly found in the generally gentler Faerie Folk.

As such, she was excommunicated from her family and was forced to take the name of Lagaan, the name of her first husband.

It was only after Layla's husband died that she finally reached full maturity and felt that tug towards Avalon that all creatures of Magick near North America are drawn to. Upon arriving, she enrolls in Avalon University, the Academy for all things Magick.

She is generally avoided, as Daemon kin had never been too kind to the rest of the races. She takes after her father and looks ferocious but is naturally shy and hardly prone to stand up for herself, thus being involved in many misunderstandings.

Studies: She plans on studying to become a healer and doctor. Also loves music.

Okay, that character IS seriously hot :). My only question is this: If she has no magick in her blood, and by all means is Unmagi, then how did she find Avalon? What Unmagi know as the Bermuda Triangle is Avalon cloaked in many layers of magick. In other words, if she has no magick in her blood, she would normally not be able to find her way through the barrier, unless she does have a small amount as a Vire.

Nice profile, but two things: The pic didn't load, and all magickal creatures don't necessarily feel the pull to Avalon, it just happens to be the largest Magi settlement. There are other, smaller Magi areas in the world.

Looks good :).

I suppose technically, due to her very nature she has magic, but also, as a Viré she is immune to most magic, and magic that is passive, as in the case of wards, is unlikely to have much affect without being specifically targeted. Does that sound ok :S?

Yeah, I suppose. She passes through the wards unaffected and reaches Avalon without any problems. It works, lol. We can say the Magi tolerate her kind because, like you said, they make great bodyguards and enforcers.

Oh, and we can say the law enforcement is Avalon Police Department, Warden Corps, Guardian Corps, City Watchmen, etc. What do you think?

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/garrett1-1.jpg

Name: Edward Ferelden
Age: 21
Birthday: August 1st
Race: Druid
Occupation: Student at Avalon University/Apprentice Alchemist at the Gardens of Ysa

Eddie comes from a long line of druids that stretches back nearly a thousand years to Celtic times, or more precisely, Gaelic Ireland. It is said that the first druid was a child born of a human mother and fathered by a spirit of nature, but this cannot be confirmed. What is known is that druids, while resembling humans perfectly, are actually much different. A druid has a sort of sixth sense with which they can see the life energy flowing through plants and animals, and can manipulate this energy to do many things.

In Eddie's case, he has a keen eye for plants and herbs, and is able to use life energy to turn a seed into a flower almost instantly. Most druids are more attuned to animals and become shapeshifters, while others become one with bugs and insects. While Eddie is capable of sensing the auras of any living being, he cannot shapeshift or openly speak with animals.

Among the very rare "Greenthumbs" of which Eddie has become, a career in alchemy is usually the desired goal. Eddie is a natural at the art of making potions and medicines from herbs and spices. For example, he can literally pump life energy into a Watermoon flower, a common ingredient used for health potions, to drastically improve its healing properties.

As a method of self defense, Eddie usually carries a few seeds in his pockets, which he can grab and summon life energy through to create, say, vine whips or large thorns. He can also use any form of plantlife in the world around him -- A few months back someone jumped out from behind a tree and tried to rob him, but Eddie just smiled, made the tree reach out and cover the crook in a cocoon of wood, and then left him there until the authorities arrived.

Eddie's family may come from Ireland, but he was born and raised in Avalon, as were his father and grandfather. He graduated high school top of his class, and has now been attending Avalon University for three years. He has just recently started his senior year, but plans to keep going until he attains a Doctorate of Alchemy.

As part of a new work/study program with the school, he has become the apprentice of Verda Vousien, a master alchemist and the owner of the Gardens of Ysa, a huge park with lakes, rivers, forests, and of course, gardens. All over Ysa, there are many different plants, and it is one of the primary sources of alchemical ingredients in the city. Verda knows her craft well, as she has been doing it for centuries, being an elderly sprite. Nearing a thousand years old, her death is not too far off, and since she never had any children, she hopes to prepare Eddie to take over Ysa once she passes on into the Mist. Eddie is perfect for this task because he grows to adulthood as fast as a human and thus learns faster, but as a druid he takes four or five centuries to grow old, giving him more time to spread Verda's knowledge.

Whichever, I'm mostly neutral, though I like Watchmen or Wardens, whichever you prefer :D
