Remember, it is your responsibility to accurately track story scores, immunities, and bonus points. You are encouraged to track your points regularly and maintain your ScoreCards updated at the end of each month. You don't have to, but it really does help with the bookwork.

When adding submissions to your ScoreCard, always include their titles, and don't forget to update the points for each category and overall. When adding immunities, always include the date on which they were won. For a detailed explanation on how to fill your ScoreCard, click here.

Pending Submissions

I've been working very hard to fill out my scorecard. One of the good things about entering this Challenge is that I'm having to think beyond my usual boundaries and I believe that at the end of the year I will have doubled my openness quotient. That is surely a good thing. Until then, however, I have noticed how difficult it has become for me to defer gratification; I come here more often hoping to see that something new has been approved; I've added colour to my scorecard, and now I'm just adding a new post.

So, while I wait, hoping that the following will be approved, so that I can put up some more stuff for you, I've decided to let you see what I hope will be coming out soon:

  • NonHuman - The Mirror Has Eyes

It's not as much as it ought to be this time, since I have been bogged down with the responsibilities of real life. I have enjoyed this Contest, but the truth is that I am happy that it is coming to a close, since it is only because I do not wish to give up that I am still in the game here.

I have completed 33 categories on my own now; and I have two others with the help of Immunities! That is what a three week break in order to study for exams and complete assignments will do to you. (((SIGH))) I have, however, managed to complete another poem today. I am happy to say that I have NO more stories necessary in order to complete at least one in each category apart from the Mind Control and SciFi that I took as Immunities.

I am thankful that my Romance "Quiet Song" was published this morning. I had thought that the Romance would have been one of the easier categories to complete, and I suppose that this is what made it less attractive than some of the other categories to fill. This said I have learned something about myself from doing this contest. I have had more fun trying to do the stories that do NOT contain non-con and BDSM though I would have told you that I'm into that kind of thing, and I thought that those stories would have been more easily generated for me. I have also found peace writing my gay male stories; no more fairy tales and erotic horror false starts for me there. I am bothered though by the length of time that it takes for the Illustrated stories and poems to come out though. Yours Truly was submitted about two weeks before Quiet Song but I heard nothing about it for weeks even after submitting it again when the reviewer reported that (s)he could not open my file the first time that I sent it. I think that it would be useful if the software used for story submission gave some sort of receipt or record as is done in even basic e-mail these days. I know that the site is free but surely this software wouldn't be too costly to acquire.

Thanks to all the persons who have been supporting me in this effort! I appreciate the fact that you're reading and commenting; even if some of the comments sting a little. Before entering this contest I had not written much by way of creative expression in over 20 years. I have already decided that it is unlikely that I will enter the 2013 Survivor Contest, I just do not have the time, but I hope that the quality of my stories will be on point by the end of this year and that if you ever read one of my journal articles you'll recognise my "voice" even in that forum. :) I remember my friend Jeff Love saying that he couldn't write a story. I know that that is not true because he had published several before I did even one; it's just that if one spends one's life writing for academia it is difficult to let oneself go; it's hard not to take oneself too seriously, but then Dodgson, Tolkien and Lewis seem to have pointed the way for us all.

In the meanwhile, if your comments reflect how you really feel about my work then I'm becoming someone whom you either love or hate. It's a surreal experience. This morning was the first time that I was able to just laugh about a bad review. I suppose that the fact that I'm getting so many good ones from people whom I don't even know, in the public comments and in the private feedback that I receive, helps with that. I recognise that sometimes I go for Art but I don't seem to quite make it. I have found myself hesitating before sending each story or poem because I have to steel myself for the rejection that it will bring. Today, I found myself being okay with that! Mrs. Swann's baby girl is growing up, at last! :D

Above all today though, my thanks are due to the commentator for Marking Time who thought that I might be the Jamaican Vonnegut!:D:heart::kiss::rose: Kissing Cousins is another experiment with an alternative way of telling a story. I hope that you will like it.

Work in Progress

I lost my muse almost completely during the past few weeks and haven't written even a single line, but I'm going to try again to finish these stories before I retire as a writer on Lit. This, regretable for me, decision has come after much thought. I am happy that I have contributed to the collection of stories and poems here. I see it as being the rent that I'm paying for being a member of this site because if all of us simply came here to read, but none of us wrote anything to keep the stock of new stories growing, the site would soon lose its appeal.

Putting out a Work in Progress Report has been fun as well. It has not served its purpose of keeping me motivated to keep going at this, but it has helped me to keep track of what I am doing.

So in my "Work In Progress" folder I STILL have:

  • Anal - Paloma *Shaking head sadly* Still only a story idea. :(
  • Transgender & Crossdressing - Alex/Alexia - Elaborate idea for this one that I don't have the skill to pull off... (((SIGH))) :(:(

Now I just have to find the time to finish all of these.

I hope that my hesitation to tackle my Illustrated Story will not come back to haunt me. It took MONTHS for my Illustrated Poems to come out and since we're so near the end of this competition I hope that I won't have the same problem. Yours Truly has already been rejected since the font in which I typed it was not compatible with Lit's system. I've changed it and resubmitted so I'm hoping for the best.

Some of these stories have been dragging on for a long time - Portrait, Alex/Alexia and Paloma are all over three months old and you didn't even know about Paloma....EVERYTHING is over three months old now... :( and sadly, completing anything will take considerably longer, I'm afraid because the ideas have gone stale with them, the newer projects have become more interesting AND I don't have the time anymore... more's the pity.

What I've told you in the stories is true though, I'm participating in this contest as an exercise in self-discipline and courage. I will not abandon any story 1,000 words in. I will finish them all; so help me...!
