OOC: A couple of threads have gotten started with this setting and died off, and in lieu of hoping the next one goes somewhere I've decided to try and start one of my own. Here goes!
IC:
As Eric walked down the hall, basket almost overflowing with dirty clothes in hand, he wondered how it had come to this. A Saturday night, where everyone else in his dorm was out partying, he was in here about to wash his clothes in the communal laundry area. Why was he being so anti-social?
Oh yeah, he remembered. Parties suck.
While he wasn't the most social of people even at the best of times, it wasn't due to his lack of social graces, or because he wasn't attractive. But to him it seemed like the large gatherings of random students was all a waste of time. Everyone was putting on a farce, pretending to enjoy the music so loud that they couldn't talk, guys desperately trying to look at a girl's face when their minds were only on how to get in their pants. And the females were no better - parading around in miniskirts and tiny tube tops, pretending to play hard to get when all they wanted was to get screwed by whoever wooed them over.
As a result of that - and his breakup with his long distance girlfriend to start the year - Eric had been founding himself getting more moody and introverted, avoiding the easy to get party scene while looking for something else It was easy enough to get some random slut who wouldn't care what had happened after the night was over; what he wanted was a girl who would be totally honest with him about what they wanted, and in turn let and accept what he wanted to do.
After over 3 years at this place, however, he wasn't sure he'd find that person here. Sure, she might resist at first, but that'd be the fun part, thought Eric. As he opened the door to the communal laundry area - benches and one table and chairs the only thing breaking up the monotony of washers and dryers - a slight scowl came to him as he saw that despite the fact it was past 10 PM on a Saturday night, that he wasn't the only one who'd had the bright idea to do his laundry with nobody around.
He perked up when he saw that his unexpected partner in laundry was a likely younger she (freshman or sophmore from the looks of it), and a small smile crawled over his face. Like any red blooded guy, he enjoyed the sight of a beautiful coed as much as anyone, and he called out as she turned to him. Eric had thrown on a white t-shirt and cargo shorts for his trip out, and he could see her attire had been chosen in a similiar fashion - not expecting to have to see anyone else.
"And here I thought I'd be the only one silly enough to do laundry on a Saturday." He eyed her carefully, slowly making his way to a nearby machine.
"I'm Eric. And you are..?"
OOC: Any female cowriter who wants to find something unexpected doing her laundry welcome, just hop on in!
